2004 vw beetle convertible - put rear passenger window down (window open). When I trided to put it up, it only went half-way up, then automatically went back down. After tryng to get it to go up two additional times, there was a loud crunching noise and a cracking noise, so I stopped trying to move it. Currently in the half-way position. After reading otheer vw owner forums online, this is oviously a defect vw needs to address.

4 Body problem of the 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 01/10/2011

This vehicle was subject to a recall for the air bag sensors. We had previously had the sensors replaced (the vehicle was just out of warranty based on time). Vw refused ultimately reimbursed us for the repairs and replacement of the sensors. In January of 2011 the air bag light came on. The dealer charged a fee to do a diagnostic test. They determined that the light was due to the failure of the driver side seat belt buckle, and the fact that the battery was discharged and needed to be repaired. They wanted approximately $480 to replace the seat belt buckle, and $245 to replace the battery. I called vw customer service and they agreed to replace the buckle for no charge, but would do nothing about the battery. Vw opened a case # 110006836 and regional manager lisa was the contact. We had aaa come to do a test on the battery. The battery and charging system both passed the test. They recommended that a trickle charge would bring the battery to a full charge. In addition, vw agreed to do a one time courtesy replacement of the convertible roof since the fabric had separated from the rear window. A clip recall had already been performed, but the headliner was hanging down and had separated from the rear window. We feared that the window could separate from the roof at highway speeds. Statement indicates that vw performed 61. 07-02 tech bulletin to perform modifications to the rear window.

On my 2005 vw beetle the left side back window fell off of it's tracks. Even though there were no injuries this could have startled my wife and perhaps caused an accident. There are numerous complaints on many vw models going back to 1995, yet when I called their vw of America number to see if there is a recall for this defect they acted like mine was the only one!!!! I then did a google search and discovered vwofamerica is nonresponsive to many complaints. Ei; odi number: 10282664. Can you help??!!!!.

10 Body problem of the 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 04/13/2009

The plastic window is separating from the cloth top of my convertible vw. Also, the headlights are constantly blowing bulbs and the sensor light of the passenger side airbag stays on. After fixing the light one time, the dealership mechanics said it was the seatbelt connector problem. They just want money, money , money and I am stuck with a Volkswagen that is not functional for daily use.

12 Body problem of the 2007 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 02/15/2008

Hard heavy odor permeating my inside of my vw convertible 2007 car. Went to dealer I purchased it from and for a few days they purified it for days. I picked it up and it was still there. Brought in to other dealer 3 times and they claim there is nothing. It was clearly a staged answer. But I have to admit , vw dealers took time to see what it could be. Stating they smell "something" not sure what it is? it very well could be a health risk . How do I know I wont get cancer or poisoning from this ? I can assure you no one cars from vw of America. Basically I own a car I am afraid to drive and only drive it when I am hard up to get somewhere. It smells like crayons and chemicals. When I drove it, I would get headaches and so would my daughter. I would get tears in my eyes, and I quit driving it. It is now 5 years old and has 32000 miles on it. Filed 3 claims with vw of America and they said "there is no smell". I have almost paid off the car , (which I cannot drive). I am so frustrated. Lemon law does not cover odor issues as the car runs perfectly. It is toxic to me, and I won't drive my family in it. But its a danger. I emailed vw of America and they totally blew me off. I am a 30 year vw owner. I know my cars. There is a defect here. And I am screwed out of a new car. There goes all my money. Many posts point to the undercarriage lining , as they were manufactured in mexico. Possibly used low grade material causing the smell. The only way to drive this ,is windows down. The smell is so strong, that with the top down- the cab smells I am telling you I have been ripped off. This is a manufacture defect!!!! no one is helping me with a full refund or a final remedy!--fyi vw of America reps told me to call the ceo of Volkswagen?????????????????????????(really?).
