1 Equipment problem of the 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

Nothing led up to the failure. The windows in my New Beetle Convertible no longer function. I have had two of these fixed already, and now one of the back windows is broken. I noticed that this has been a problem for many other New Beetle Convertible owners as well. I am hoping that there is a recall to this issue as it effects so many other owners.

3 Equipment problem of the 2006 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 03/27/2011

The back window in my convertible 2006 new beetle separated from the fabric. The entire top had to be replaced. According to the vehicle upholstery shop that replaced the top, if the separation had been caught early enough it could have been repaired with an adhesive glue. My car was in for service and I asked for the top to be checked because I had experienced an incident of the top not opening properly. Two weeks later we had a heavy thunder storm and my car was full of water.

4 Equipment problem of the 2005 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 02/25/2011

My 2005 Volkswagen beetle convertible driver side window was stuck in the down position, and the "regulator" had to be replaced at a cost of $331. 55. The same situation occurred with both rear windows in Feb. Of 2008, but vw had a recall on those windows, and fixed them "free". There has been no recall for front windows, even though internet forums show many other beetle owners have this problem with front windows. Also, my previously owned 2001 beetle had a stuck passenger side window, and cost about $300 to repair.

5 Equipment problem of the 2005 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 01/15/2011

Window regulator broke during regular usage. Car has only 30,000 miles.

6 Equipment problem of the 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 09/22/2010

2003 vw beetle convertible. Automatic transmission began showing signs of trouble well over a year ago. Problem starts after 15 minutes of driving. Downshifts hard around 30-25 mph. Also shows hesitation coming out of 2nd to 3rd gear. Car has 75,000 miles. Had transmission fluid changed/flushed twice in past 6 months hoping that would help. Took to dealership today, quoted me $1900 to replace valve body. Are you kidding me? not to mention the fact that this car has had the rear window regulator go out -cost $300 to repair. The glue affixing the rear glass window to convertible top is breaking down. The check engine light comes on and appears to be some sort of malfunction with the gas cap. . . No matter how often I tighten it. Then it mysteriously goes off. Oh, and should you ever need a replacement key, good luck. Why couldn't vw use normal sized/type keys? vw is making crappy products. Nhtsa please do something. This manufacturer should not be permitted to release another vehicle off its assembly line unless it fixes the many problems affecting innocent, unfortunate vw owners like myself. Yield your power and enforce some action. Vw needs to be responsible for the junk they produce. Maybe then they'll think twice before turning out anymore crappy products. I will never own another vw product.

7 Equipment problem of the 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 07/11/2009

The rear window regulators went out on both windows, convertible top won't work 90% of the time. Replaced headlight 4 times in 2 years.

8 Equipment problem of the 2005 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

We have a 2005 vw new beetle. It has 2 broken rear window regulators. Vw quotes hundreds each to fix, with the same faulty parts it was built with. No assurance it will not break again at any time. Also, the 2 front windows have a "drop down" feature when opening to allow glass to enter seal. This does not work either. Vw is well aware of these problems & refuses to fix.
