One problem related to brake antilock control unit/module has been reported for the 1996 Volkswagen Passat. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The abs light illuminated and the anti-lock brakes tend not to operate, causing the vehicle to have extended stopping distance. Taken to dealer for check up and, results showed that there is an electrical problem with the computer.
