One problem related to fuel injection has been reported for the 1996 Volkswagen Passat. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
"o" ring and seal were cracked, causing oil leakages. Manufacturer notified and refused to replace fuel injection system unless cost goes to consumer. The dealer replaced the failed parts for no charge.
