Two problems related to door latch have been reported for the 1999 Volkswagen Passat. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Power door locks (passenger side) - locks operated but doors would not open from inside or outside.
The 1999 Volkswagen Passat developed problems with the door lock equipment. ** answer required***. The problem first exhibited to the consumer when the door ajar alarm would go off for no apparent reason when the car was parked. In order to operate the car and prevent the alarm from going off the consumer had to remove two fuses. The vehicle was taken tot he dealer who diagnosed the problem as faulty door locks.
