My 2000 vw Passat v6 abs brake module has failed and I get the stop/abs lights flashing on my dashboard intermittently, along with warning beeps. This makes the car unsafe to drive and costs $1000+ to fix. Vw needs to recall these models immediately.
Abs light started blinking and beeping. Scan tool shows "unable to communicate with abs control module. " this abs blinking and beeping happens everytime I start my car now. When I attempt a panic brake stop, there is no pulsating from the brake pedal, which indicates the abs is not functioning. My 2000 Passat glx has 45,000 miles on the odometer.
Abs light on and brake light flashing. Big letters saying to stop!.
Abs light and brake fault light comes on and will not go off.
Abs and brake warning light comes on and stays on. Message section displays stop, brake failure message. According to dealership, the abs module needs to be replaced. Price quoted was $1,000. Apparently, a very common problem with vw and Audi cars. Vw owes us a recall.
Purchased my 2000 Passat in 2003, had numerous problems since. It seemed like everything on the car had to be replaced. The control arms, O2 sensors, twice, belts, stereo didn't turn on, all new hoses right away, all 4 window regulators, and now to top it all off, the abs lights kept coming on. My husband has a 2000 Audi a4, virtually the same car, and had to replace all of the same things. The abs seemed to work fine, but the dealer said it would be $1800 to fix it. I looked at some online forums and found thousands of people with similar problems. The manufacturer, (bosch or Volkswagen, should do something about this. My car has been parked since August 2006 because I don't have money to fix it! I am college student. Help!.
: the contact stated a puddle of fuel on the driveway was noticed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the fuel lines, clamps and seal were replaced. Also, while driving at various speeds, the abs light illuminated on the dashboard. The dealer replaced the entire abs system.
I have a 2000 Passat GLS. It's abs light is on now with the brake light flashing and the message stop shown on the dashboard.
Abs /brake light started coming on at about 112,000 miles. First the problem was intermittent, but now it is constant. The abs pump seems to function properly. The problem is with the electronic component known as the ebcm. I realize the government doesn't consider this a safety issue, otherwise vw would have been pressured to issue a recall. However, the state of NJ will not allow you to pass inspection with the lights on because they consider it a safety issue, even though in reality it's just like driving in the pre-abs days. So, the consumer is forced to pay $1500-$2000 to get this problem fixed. Of course vw and bosch, who made the faulty component, get off the hook and in fact profit this extremely common failure. Who is looking out for the consumer? please help!.
Abs light goes on.
2000 Volkswagen Passat abs module failed. Abs, brake and warning lights constantly illuminated.
Abs light and brake failure warning light problem on my 2000 vw Passat wagon. Research shows this is a common problem and should be included in a recall.
Failure of abs brake module. I paid naples FL vw dealer $100 for diagnostic test for blinking abs light, brake warning, stop, etc. They said I needed a new module for $1400+ . . . I'm still driving with blinking warning lights and buzzers beeping. . .
Owner of a 2000 Passat 1. 8t. Ike hundreds of other people I have a problem on the board appears the message: stop/break fault/service manual. . Abs and break lights flashed on. Have spent so much money when I go to the dealer and they suggest to replace some parts but at the end the issue stays and not even the dealer can give me explanations or hints of how to fix the problem. I believe there is a problem with the abs module which costs around $1500 this problem is so common that vw should make this a recall.
Abs contol module failure.
Faulty abs speed sensor.
My 2000 vw Passat with 60,000 miles has 2 serious and expensive problems first one was when I noticed a loud popping noise on bumps and steering was very unstable on bumps. Took it to a shop and they told me it was the control arms and tie rod ends and that both were dealer items. So upon going to the dealer they told me they needed $90 dollars before they could even look @ it. So I said no but how much are the parts and turns out there more than $500 dollars. Three weeks later my abs light and asr light comes on and it reads in the middle of the dash to stop! brake fault so reading this with my family in the car I immediately pull over find out where the nearest vw dealer is and ask them to inspect the problem. Well that was easier said than done first they wanted the $90 dollars again before they would look at it and since I didn't have the money there was nothing they could do! nothing they can do!! that's crazy!! after arguing with them on why they don't want to look at it but it could cause a serious accident they said there's no immediate problem its ok to drive but it could be the abs module or the dash cluster its self. So I asked the price abs $1200 dollars new dash over $700 and that's not including labor. . So sorry to say but vw lost a customer with me and my family and friends. The car is just to new for this type of stuff to happen there should be a recall on this because I know im not the only one. And just to add, my old car which I have to drive now since I don't have the money to fix the problems with the vw is a Honda prelude with 185,000 miles and still no problems.
