Abs light on and break light flashing.
Abs light came on.
The contact owns a 2001 Volkswagen Passat. The abs warning light was illuminated on the instrument control panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and a technician advised him that the abs was not functioning. The repair would cost a minimum of $1,000. 00. The vehicle had not been repaired to-date. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was provided. The current mileage was approximately 99,000. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
Abs module faulty in 2001 Passat station wagon; brake fault/abs warning lights came on repeatedly.
Normal car operation. Abs lights came on - diagnosed as failure of abs control module. Abs brakes no longer work! vw wants $1600 for repairs. After some research determined it is a fairly common failure on my car, 2001 Passat that vw has yet to acknowledge or address.
The abs light and a brake light are on on my 2001 Volkswagen Passat for the last eight months. I have been searching and looks like there has been a lot of complaints for this same problem.
While I was driving, my instrument panel starting flashing the "abs" light and beeping loudly, the information panel displayed "brake fault", then "stop" in large letters. I checked my brakes and they still worked. Then the beeping and display messages stopped, and the traction control light came on. The service advisor at the dealership told me that this is a known issue with the electronic control unit in 98-01 Volkswagen Passats. The hydraulic brakes still work, but the abs may fail to activate in a panic stop. The cost to replace the electronics is $876, and the new unit is not as prone to failure as the original.
Abs module on my 2001 vw Passat failed. This was a $1000 repair. I t failed at about 81,000 miles.
A couple of days ago my abs, brake and asr lights came on not necessarily together. The abs and brake would be together with the matrix display showing stop service manual and later the asr light would be on with the rest going off. Funny, I was going down a slope, no braking, the abs/brake came on and went off immediately! its very random, comes on or off at any time. Checking on the internet, it seems like its a very common occurrence with vw cars.
Brakes problems - less than a year old, if drive 40 mph and up, and if the brake pedal is applied, the vehicle would accelerate for a brief second before it decelerates (very scary and dangerous). Four years old: abs lights on and if the brake pedal is applied, the vehicle would shaking. Reported to Volkswagen, but no cares has taken. Seat belts problems: two and half years old: front passenger seat belt doesn't recoil.
