I put fuel in the car and about to start the car and it won’t start. Lights flickering.
The vehicle has issues with the fuel pump , intake & cylinders . I was able to change the fuel pump but noticed online the vehicle has been recalled for these same issues . When turning the car on and driving it turns off and hardening the steering wheel.
The check engine light and oil pressure light appeared on my dash screen as I was driving home from work. I pulled over to the nearest repair shop to have the vehicle diagnosed. Upon arriving, the mechanic noticed my oil was low and filled the car with oil. Once that was completed, the car would not start. I noticed it made unusual noises after several more failed attempts. I had the vehicle towed to an authorized dealership to further troubleshoot and they were able to confirm that the engine jumped time due to a failed timing chain tensioner, which requires a new engine since mine is an interference engine. Due to the timing chain tensioner failing, there was catastrophic damage done to the engine leaving the vehicle inoperable.
My son drove the vehicle to school this morning. As he neared the school driveway going about 25 miles per hour, the engine warning light came on "stop engine immediately. " he drove the vehicle 1 city block to park in the school parking lot. The engine did not jolt when the warning came on but it came on none-the-less.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the check engine and oil warning lights started flashing on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic, who attempted to start the vehicle; however, the engine skipped, and the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the timing chain had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact learned of the Volkswagen timing chain settlement, id number: 16/2765 for the timing chain; however, the campaign ended in 2019. The VIN was not under recall, and the vehicle was not included in the Volkswagen timing chain settlement. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,322.
My vehicle was in motion on a city street and suddenly it started shaking while driving and when I braked, it shaked even more vigorously. I took it to a local mechanic who said there is an issue with the engine and the dealership will have to look at it. They recommended that I tow the car to the dealership and advised against driving it. I towed the car to the dealership. After two days the dealership calls me stating that the timing chain has jumped and there is no compression. They would have to repair or replace the engine. The dearlship technician said that they have had several vw vehicles brought in with similar issues but vw has refused to issue a recall or take any action to correct this issue. This is a dangerous safetly hazard. If I was driving on a highway and this happened, I could have easily caused a big accident because I literally had very little control over the car and what it was doing. This is a defect in the car's manufacturing and vw needs to do something urgently to fix the issue. There are other cars and owners out there unaware of this potentially dangerous issue and NHTSA needs to bring this to everyone's attention. Thank you.
There is an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This resulting in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, this happened today on highway and almost I was going to have a fatal accident. Us. Vw and the delar are not taking any action at that regard, they stated today that I pay to the repair and they will emberse me later. Pleas note that there is a recall on the fuel pump control module to solve that issue. Safety risk.
The car had been driven a short distance and parked. Shortly after that it caught on fire and was destroyed.
I bought this car unaware of a carbonization issue on the valves\. The carbon build up causes a missfire read and a lean fault in left bank. The missfire issue makes the vehicle virtually undrivable which put me and my family in danger at the time this occurd. Accordingly after plenty of research this apparently is a very common issue and is a manufacture issue since the issue could be solved by placing the fuel injectors behind the valves to clean them instead they are costing consumers obscene amounts of money and putting their lives at risk for no other reason then to not fix this issue.
I bought this car used and from the moment I took it of the lot 13 months ago I have been having problems. The care will stop, shake. I have already had it check 3 times and repaired twice. Fuel pump has been changed twice and I am having the same problem again. This is a huge safety hazard if I am on the expressway and no warning take place which could lead to a major accident. According to what I have read this make and model have had many issues and volkswagon has not resolved the situation. Help!.
I was stopped at a red light and smoke with the distinct fire smell started pouring out of my hood. I had to run the red light to get off of the street where I ended up in a big parking lot. I raised the hood and saw heavy smoke and small flames. I grabbed my phone and took a picture and then ran and got water to put the fire out. This will cost me a 500 dollar deductible and the potential for my insurance company to raise my rates. I am so pissed to find out this is a reoccurring issue! I am glad I was driving instead of my wife with our kids in the car! vw the fight is now on! I was wondering why my service adviser new exactly what caused the fire. A 27 dollar part failed and caused a couple of grand in damage.
Main rear bearing seal failure, sudden loss of power, burning smell from under car, $1,700 repair.
After being driven for a short time our 2009 vw Passat was parked in our garage. No signs of any problems when driver went inside the house. About 15-20 minutes after being parked noise was heard from garage and at that time intense smoke and fire from front of vehicle was discovered. Before help could arrive front of car was completely on fire and nearby materials in garage were ignited. Car was considered total loss along with extensive damage to inside of garage. Fire department attributed the cause of fire as "car engine/electrical". Fortunately, ,there were no personal injuries but significant property damage. .
The car suddenly has 50% or less power and begins stumbling very badly. Acceleration is so poor that it's quite dangerous in heavy traffic and the ability to pull off the road is severly hampered. The only way I'm able to keep the car moving and running is to use the manual feature of the automatic transmission and keep the rpm's very high. The four coil packs in the car were replaced this spring. Suddenly, the same exact problem is back again 4 months later. Codes were random misifre and multiple misfires at various cylinders. Strange that all four packs go out at the same time. . . . ? that's not logical unless is something other than normal wear causing the issue. This problem has occurred twice and both time it begins in the middle of heavy traffic where the situation is very dangerous as the power loss is nearly complete. Both times were under acceleration when the heavy stumbling occurred. I turned the car off and disconnected the battery for 5 min. To hopefully reset the cars epc as the problem is so sudden it almost certainly is electrical. There is no logical explanation for four coil packs all needing to be replaced at the same time and 4 months after the last replacement. . . ? undoubtedly a consistently dangerous situation.
My vehicle threw a warning light " oil pressure, please shut off car immediatley". Once car was shut off it never again started. Vehicle was taken to vw dealer in arkansas and I was told the engine was blown and it would cost 7,600 to repair.
Pulled into garage and park after coming home from work. Car started on fire 10 minutes later. The car burned completely along with garage.
On Sunday morning about 11:20 am as I turned my car on it immediately started to rattle followed by black smoke coming from under my hood. I immediately turned my car off, unlocked my hood and unbuckled my 3 boys out of their car seats and ran out of the car. As I made sure they were at a safe distance away from the car I walked back to my car popped the hood up and noticed fire coming from what appeared to be the engine. I immediately called 911 and ran to my neighbors apartment to ask for water so my car wouldn't burn to the ground. By the time the fire department made it out my neighbor and I were able to put the fire out thank god. The following day I had it to towed by hanna's towing through my car insurance agency to the nearest Volkswagen service center. The tow truck driver walter had to unplug the battery because when he turned it on to put the vehicle on neutral to hook it up to the tow truck it started to smoke up again.
Traveling at posted speed limit on local highway when the engine lost power, battery light illuminated, a/c stopped blowing altogether. Vehicle was traveling up slight incline so vehicle pulled into nearest parking lot off of highway. Once vehicle pulled into parking lot it was turned off and the key removed. Attempted to re-start vehicle, engine would turn over but would not start. Removed key from vehicle, exited vehicle and noticed smoke coming from underneath hood. Raised hood and found top left rear engine cover and surrounding plastic tubing as well as the fabric on the underside of the hood on fire. Fire department was called but fire was extinguished prior to their arrival. Vehicle towed to local vw dealership and awaiting insurance adjuster and vw to assess damages.
As we were approaching a stop sign the engine hesitated or stuttered as we came to a stop. As I attempted to start again, the engine hesitated, I noticed that the engine light had come on, smoke was coming out from under the hood. I pulled over and opened the hood to find the top left rear of the engine cover on fire. I called 911 and the fire department arrived to extinguish the fire which had by then consumed most of the plastic components on top and rear of the engine.
I have a vw Passat cc 2. 0 turbo 2009. I was driving down the highway at 60 miles when suddenly the car under the speed to 30 m. Almost I have an accident with other drivers. I went to vw dealer and the problem I had was the ignition coil. The vw warranty did not cover the damage and I have to pay for it being that this is a manufacturing defect of these models of cars. Here I am sending you a new york times article where he talks about this situation. . Read more...
Acceleration hesitation for 1-3 seconds when throttle engaged at low speed.
Parked car and went into the store to shop and approximately 10 minutes later someone said a car was on fire and that it was a silver vw. My husband went out and found the whole front end engulfed in flames.
