On [xxx], a midas shop found an alleged crack in the front part of the gas tank on the upper part of the tank by the floor board. The manager also stated that it could be a plastic seal from the fuel pump on the top part of the tank. The tank is located next to the exhaust system. My 2009 vw cc 4-motion only has 122,xxx miles on it. I could see a wet spot and presumed I smelled gas but was not sure. He gave me a printout of what the cost would be to repair the system. I told him I would be filing a report with NHTSA. I then called lunde's vw, w. Bell rd. , peoria, az. I talked to a tyler rodriquez and he said there were no recalls and vw could not warrant the problem. I told him I would be filing a report with NHTSA and he did not respond to me. Both places were quite fast to elicit repairs from their business. Only midas pointed out the exhaust pipes being near the gas tank. Approximately six years ago I had been to another vw dealership in phoenix about my gas gauge needle not working properly and I was sold a gas cap to fix the problem. The problem has been a recurring one and my gas mileage fluctuates. This situation reminds me of the mid-1970s problem with the Ford pinto gas tanks, which I believe was never resolved. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I put fuel in the car and about to start the car and it won’t start. Lights flickering.
Engine stalled while driving. I believe my vehicle should be included in NHTSA recall no. : 17v-509 manufacturer recall no. : 20ae.
I am writing to your organization because of the injustice I experienced with a recall at Volkswagen. A couple of years ago I had some issues with my Passat and took it to the dealer. Dealers doing what dealer's gauged me for whatever they could. This year, however, Volkswagen came out with recall for the part which I replaced two years ago. They paid me partially for my our of pocket expenses but my argument to them was that I would not have been at the dealer to be taken advantage of if not for the recall. I initially requested that they refund full labor and one of the parts. But come to think of it both parts are related to the fuel system and now I would like a complete refund.
Drained my battery all time, turned off in middle the I driving it. For couple months I been experience this situation. First I was came back for work, I was in mays landing area, I was waiting for the light change, when my cart turned off. After several minutes turned on again, I drove for 10 minutes and again turning off. I bought a new battery, my car worked perfectly for 3 day, I was in my job ready to came home when my car never start again.

2009 vw Passat 2. 0t. Oil leaking from rear main seal. Rear main seal failed at about 75,000 miles, not covered under warranty. First indication was oil spot on driveway and then check engine light came on. Inspected bottom of engine and it was coated with oil. The pcv valve failed and caused rear main seal to rupture and shoot oil (and possibly gas vapors) all over bottom of hot engine. Although nothing ignited in this case, began to question if some of the other fire incidents listed on NHTSA site were possibly caused by similar condition. Failure of approx. $40 part caused approx. $1700 in damage- all out of warranty. Warranty is for 5 years/60,000 miles. No maintenance data available to owner indicated that pcv valve should be checked as part of scheduled maintenance. Vw leadership declined to accept any responibility for situation.
Initial failure occurred whike accelerating onto main thoroughfare. Vehicle lost all engine power and stalled out. Vehicle was send to vw dealer for repair where some warranty repairs were made as well as preventative maintentice that was advised. The car was returned as "repaired" and after driving home experienced the exact same failure while the car was idiling in the driveway. Car was returned again and experienced the same failure a second time while I was traveling on i275 in detroit. The car stalled out and I again lost all power. I was forced to the side of the road where the car then failed to start. I was forced to sit for three hours in 20 degree weather with a twice in 2 weeks repaired issue as my car was buried in snow on the interstate. This is a major safety hazard!.
Main rear bearing seal failure, sudden loss of power, burning smell from under car, $1,700 repair.
My vehicle's check engine light came on and stayed on for several days, and the engine started running abnormally, so I took it to a mechanic. The mechanic discovered that the intake manifold needed to be replaced, in addition to other work on the engine and fuel system. I found out that Volkswagen had issued an extended warranty for the intake manifold and fuel injectors of my vehicle's engine. However, although my engine was of the exact same type included in the extended warranty, Volkswagen claimed I was not eligible for warranty replacement since my vehicle's VIN was not included on the extended warranty list. Considering that my vehicle has been well maintained and is only about 5 years old, I believe that the intake manifold problem is related to the problem that resulted in the warranty extension, and my vehicle should be included in the warranty extension.
The car suddenly has 50% or less power and begins stumbling very badly. Acceleration is so poor that it's quite dangerous in heavy traffic and the ability to pull off the road is severly hampered. The only way I'm able to keep the car moving and running is to use the manual feature of the automatic transmission and keep the rpm's very high. The four coil packs in the car were replaced this spring. Suddenly, the same exact problem is back again 4 months later. Codes were random misifre and multiple misfires at various cylinders. Strange that all four packs go out at the same time. . . . ? that's not logical unless is something other than normal wear causing the issue. This problem has occurred twice and both time it begins in the middle of heavy traffic where the situation is very dangerous as the power loss is nearly complete. Both times were under acceleration when the heavy stumbling occurred. I turned the car off and disconnected the battery for 5 min. To hopefully reset the cars epc as the problem is so sudden it almost certainly is electrical. There is no logical explanation for four coil packs all needing to be replaced at the same time and 4 months after the last replacement. . . ? undoubtedly a consistently dangerous situation.
On 11/15/11 @33,125 miles when accelerating intermittently shift into neutral correct back to drive "could not be replicated" by vw service. Then, car started to become "hesitant" on acceleration from a stop or when on driving. 1/16/12, hesitation more frequent; vw service took a short drive, could not replicate "it's not an issue unless mil" (recommended new wiper blades). 3/6/12, @ 41,117 miles, continued to intermittently hesitate/wanted to stall/ neutral" no engine light (mil); 3/14/12 @ 41,595 miles, left headlight bulb replaced. 6/7/12, while in traffic on expressway approximate speed was 20mph, car hesitated to move with flow of traffic then immediately after hesitation, 2 things occurred @same time, I was rear-ended & engine light (mil) came on. Then car hesitated as I went to pull over. Mil went off then flickered on. I called vw service the mil was off & was told that rear-ended caused the flicker. Mil cont to intermittently go on & off. On 6/30/12 @47,098 miles, mil on steering locked up car hesitating; vw service was informed that auto body shop stated obd car misfiring; replaced l headlight again-car passed inspection. On 7/12/12 @ 48347 miles, mil vw swapped wires again; mil, hesitation while driving, & shifting issue still intermittent; 3/2/13@ 64070 miles mil on l headlight bulb replaced; 3/30/13 mil replace spark plugs; 4/15/13 @ 65,689 mil ignition coil manifold fuel injectors replaced; returned 4/16/13 hesitation rebreather corrected; safety inspection mil on forced car to passed. Mil stays on still hesitates @78,942 water pump; @79000 car hesitating stalling mil intake valve fuel injector need cleaning - l headlight again; @91,195, left headlight replaced vehicle ret to me by vw with mil & steering lock lights on refused to repair 100,191 miles mil still on 107,290 vw forced fail safety inspection mil came on &has never gone off.
