2000 rpm at idle with a/c on. Normal with a/c off. Same as NHTSA 08v235000. Vw said this vehicle does not fall under that recall. Vehicle tries to accelerate beyond brake control at idle only with a/c on.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Passat. While the vehicle was parked and while driving various speeds, the vehicle accelerated independently without the accelerator pedal being depressed. In addition, the contact noticed engine oil leaking from underneath the vehicle. The check engine warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear main engine seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
