I am needing assistance with my vehicle, I am currently station in germany and there is not a dealership that can replace the airbag. My concern is that if something happens while my wife and family is in the car and there is a malfunction with the airbag, it could cause serious injury, is there a solution to this issue for personnel stationed overseas not able to resolve this issue?.
Took car in for recall on air bags drove home 3 minutes from dealer. Next morning car dies out in the middle of busy intersection and will not restart nearly causing an accident 3 blocks from home. Dealer says they did nothing to engine. And would charge me 175. 00 to diagnose . Vw had this problem with earlier year Passat vehicles when power was interrupted and would cause fuel pump failure.

Clock spring failed. If accident were to happen, airbags wouldn't deploy due to failed clock spring. Very frustrating to spend $700 to repair the clock spring, considering vw has known about this issue for several years.
The issue is im having that I have an airbag warning on for a seat that no one hardly evers sits in. Im single so 98% of the time im alone in my vehicle so why would the passenger seat being displaying an issue. So, also at 66, 250 im experiencing an issue with needing a waterpump and thermostat which will cost 1100. 00 that I don't have. Im reviewing all the issues you are having with these parts I did have mastertech for warrnaty so now its ran out at 60,000 miles. I feel this issue you are having with this vehicle needs to be repaired through vw. These are too soon for these issues to be occuring on a vehicle. Im disappointed because I baby my car over bumps, railroad crossings. I treat this vehicle like a mercedes. So, I would love to have feedback on what you can do to help me in this situation.
I was driving my 2015 vw Passat (in excellent condition) I was pulling into a parking space slowly and as I turned the steering wheel I heard a crumpling noise that sounded like it was coming from my steering column. I stopped immediate and suddenly the dash board read "airbag error". I proceeded into the parking space slowly, turned the car off and called my vw dealer. We set an appointment to have it looked at. After about 10 miles of drive time on my way home, all of my other steering wheel components (raido, dash controller, voice controller, had all stopped working. When I got home I did my research and have discovered the airbag error along with the other steering components failing. . Is very common in 2015 Passats! I feel this needs to be addressed as a safety recall. What ever is causing the airbag to become malfunctioned needs to be addressed. I have made an appointment with my vw service department. They want $145. 00 to take it apart and assess what went wrong. Will keep you posted.
All lights came on at same time, no notable reason given for issue. Just told costs associated aren't under warranty or recalls.
Clock spring failure, airbags off-line, horn inoperative, steering wheel controls inoperative.
The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Passat. While driving 20 mph, the contact depressed the horn, but it failed to sound. The vehicle was taken to commonwealth Volkswagen (1 commonwealth dr, lawrence, MA 01841). The dealer diagnosed that the clock spring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and was unable to assist. The failure mileage was 51,000.
Air bag error message and light illuminates. The steering wheel makes a cracking sound while turning in either direction. Also the buttons on the steering wheel do not work to include the horn.
Takata recall I received a safety recall yesterday in my mail for my vw Passat's takata airbags. After reading the letter it seemed pretty important that I get the change made so I immediately called my vw dealership to ask them to replace the airbag. Upon informing vw of the letter and them reviewing my VIN number, they told me that they don't currently have replacements in stock and they werent sure when they would be in. I asked them to call me when they come in and they said they cant do that and for me to just call back in a week to see if they've come in. Shocked, I asked the person am I just supposed to ride around praying and gambling that I don't get hit or hit something so that my airbag doesnt go off and harm me? to which the person told me, the airbags work fine its only a recall because they want to make sure there are no issues. Im sorry but that is not safe and or accurate. So in the meantime, im riding around with an airbag that has a recall and has the potential to go off and metal fragments could come through the bag which may result in serious injury or death to me and any occupants (usually my two kids). Is it me or is something really wrong with this? I need to know how urgent this is to get replaced and get this done immediately.
