Driving home from work around 1:00 am at night with street lights and no other cars in the vicinity the auto brake engaged, causing an abrupt stop. Once the auto brake ceased I was able to complete my trip. There was a light coating of water in a spot on the road but nothing else and no reason for this to occur.

While driving on a residential street the vw front assist suddenly engaged the brakes. There was no car in front or any cars driving in the area. The car came to a complete stop. The only explanation may be that it had been recently raining in seattle and it was also late in the day so the sun was low in the sky. There was also a metal plate on the street that appeared to be reflective with the rain. We have had incidents like this in the past while driving over the university bridge as well which is a metal grated draw bridge in seattle. We are extremely concerned that the brakes will engage and we will be rear ended. I had the dealership inspect the front assist feature on Thursday April 17th, 2025 and they have no indication of any fault with the system. The radar sensor that the feature relies upon was properly aligned and in working order. This system makes our car less safe to drive than if it was permanently disabled. Rain followed by sunshine is common in seattle creating situations where the front assist will be triggered incorrectly putting us and other motorists at risk.
Stalling? have to put in drive in order to forward in order to get car to back up? air bags clock wheel has more connection to what wrong/air bags connections is connected to horn (which stopped working) drive? all the refuses are working fine. Horn not work; dangerous driving in caliifornia without a horn** I just want all is for them to replace the parts of my vw 2013 Passat without any charge whatsoever; even an unnecessary fee** I am driving a car with defective air bags, tires headlights, suspension, seatbelts problems, transmissions prblems, steering, electrical, system that can explode leading to a lethal situation for myself and/or my disabled son not to say sometimes I have my grandkids here have been a lot of complaints other than for what these recalled products are allowed on this vehicle. I am not the only one dealing with this stalling issue/go forward. Dangerous what does someone have do suddenly put it in reverse to get out of another vehicle or another harmful?? because these issues are really serious!! especially when dealership like auto plus in indio. Ca. Use car dealership in vehicles like this and promising. People things about the vehicle and not true!!.

My sensors cause the car to break in the middle of traffic. Almost causing accidents for the people behind me. This has happened 3x in the last month.
The Volkswagen front assist (sometimes referred to as forward collision warning) system employed without having anything/anyone in front of the vehicle - no traffic in front, behind or on the side and the brakes engaged the brought the car to a complete stop in the street. This has been reported to Volkswagen and we have been told that their engineers are working on this issue but the vehicle is safe to drive. The day was a clear day. Date is approximate - I don't have my phone on me with the photo.

The automatic emergency braking has applied three times while driving this vehicle. Once on a freeway onramp curve in traffic with following car, twice driving on different paved city streets. All three times were daylight and no other vehicle or obstruction in front of my car. This to me is asking for a trailing vehicle to rear end collide, or maybe even worse yet what would happen if this were to happen on rain slick or snow covered road? I did take it to an authorized vw dealer after the second brake application and of course they could not replicate the brake issue. I did not have it checked the first time since I falsely assumed I had done something I had not thought about. Now, after the third time, I am sure that it is the car and not something I have done. I have not been back to vw shop yet after this third time. My wife is scared to drive the car now and I am concerned about myself. I do not think the vw dealer went any further than a test drive and maybe a computer check after the second braking I encountered. There have been no warning lights or messages on my car dash before or after all three times. The dash light warning to "brake!" did light up as the brakes were applying on their own. As a small aside comment, I was a professional highway truck driver with over a million miles driving and achieved a 28 year safe driving record. That has let me make this statement with a lot of "boots on the ground" certainty.
The Passat autonomous braking system engaged while driving on a divided four-lane street with no traffic or obstructions. Lane assist has repeatedly disabled itself. Park assist sensors have repeatedly detected objects extremely close when nothing is present. There have been numerous other system failures. In 2019, I first reported the issues to a Volkswagen service center for repair. Since that time, the vehicle has spent weeks in service with Volkswagen involvement, with a report of no errors found. The faults have continued, seemingly at random, since 2019. I have supplied Volkswagen with notes, photos, and videos of the failures Volkswagen not state they cannot accept photo or video documentation, not will they pay for any repair even though the vehicle was under warranty until August 2020 and not repaired. I have a lot of photos and videos, as well as notes that I would be pleased to forward to you.

The breaks is very weak I was going to hit the car at the front of me with 1 inch ! it took the car like 4 seconds to stop not sure was it just the breaks or the breaks and tires , the car kept moving after pressing the breaks hard enough , I was shaking since I just got the car 4 days ago !.
While my wife was driving to work and getting ready to get on the interstate, a caution light and alert tone suddenly came on. Display read "front assist: no sensor view. " nothing else happened and the alert turned off after a few miles. This is the system that automatically applies the brakes if it senses a possible collision. If this system was to fail, the brakes could automatically apply while traveling at highway speeds with possible disastrous results. Many vw owners have complained and had the same issue. There is currently a class action lawsuit against vw (dack, et al. , v. Volkswagen group of America, inc. , et al. ) for this issue and Volkswagen's failure to admit there is an issue or address it.
My car shakes and brakes are really touchy due to the forward assist.
The emergency breaking incident first occurred on 8 December 2019 as I was entering the parking lot for my apartment complex. There were no obstacles. The second occurrence was reported to the NHTSA on 5 may 2021. The tracking number for the issue is 11415338. The vehicle has exhibited multiple faults with its electronics, including emergency breaking enabling for no apparent reason, lane assist randomly disabling itself (including driving and overnight while parked), parking sensors alerting extreme proximity when nothing it near the vehicle, infotainment system (failed to move from vw display, locked up, failed to display rear camera with vehicle in reverse and other failures), the rear camera has failed to display and displayed a image "rolling" vertically, wing mirrors have failed to extend or extend after considerable delay, and other issues. All of these issues have been reported to Volkswagen and service has reported no problems. Additional information, photos, and video are available.
