Electronic Stability Control problem #1

Hello I purchase my Passat 2013 last year in December it never gave me a problem but the engine light came on an it wouldn go off than the all kind of different symbols came across my dashboard so I took it to the mechanic they say I need new glow pipes so I got new glow pipes after they got replaced my car still wouldn't work so they sayed I needed a turbo actuator brought the turbo actuator an the mechanic change it my car still wouldn't work it wouldn't pick up speed or nothing the lights on the dashboard has been rested several different times still wouldn't go away so I call a another mechanic to get a second opinion and he told me it was a electric problem that my car was holding to much heat after changing everything my car been parked for 3months an I'm so sad I love my car but I see that they have a recall on my car and the problem I'm experiencing so basically all the money I spend trying to get it fixed was a waste of money and time but im grateful I'm ok and my car didn't blow up while me and my babies were in it crossing the bridge it was smoking so bad from the back than it started smoking from under the hood after again everything was fix an replaced that when we learn it was a electrical problem and I wasn't going to be able to drive anymore also I try to check the box for the electrical, an engine as well sorry about my complaint I truly love my vw Passat I have a vw tourge also vw or my favorite cars look forward to talking to someone soon.

Electronic Stability Control problem #2

While driving the abs light came on (constant speed, highway, dry conditions), disabling cruise control. The airbag light then came on. Then the tire sensor light and finally the steering wheel light and exclamation point icon next to the steering wheel light.

Electronic Stability Control problem #3

The car has stalled multiple times while driving. Lights pop on and the fuel pump is the error code, along with misfires. I have had at least a dozen or more close calls with the stall out and failure to start up, and at least 2-3 times I have almost been seriously injured or killed due to the stall out. It stalls when its in motion or even when it is parked and is starting up.

Electronic Stability Control problem #4

While driving and trying to stop it appears that brakes/abs are not functioning properly. Abs, tpms, traction control, srs warning lights have come on for the second time in just a few months span. Dealer said it was faulty abs wheel speed sensors both times (both rear). It appears that it is the same issue as NHTSA id number: 11265312.

Electronic Stability Control problem #5

The vehicle has issues with the fuel pump , intake & cylinders . I was able to change the fuel pump but noticed online the vehicle has been recalled for these same issues . When turning the car on and driving it turns off and hardening the steering wheel.

Electronic Stability Control problem #6

Bought this at a used car dealership. Within two days, the epc light was coming on. When driving the car or when starting to push the gas pedal, the gas pedal has no response. It's as if the pedal is not working. We took it back to the dealership and had their mechanic look at it. They said it was a sensor. Said they fixed it. Within a week, the epc light came on again. This time, said it was the throttle body. They said they fixed it but within about 3 weeks, the pedal issue happened again. Luckily, we have stayed on local roads 40 mph max but when the car doesn't go when it is supposed to, I'm expecting to get rearended. We brought this to our mechanic and $1700 later, the car is still doing the same thing. The epc light is on and the car is not going when you press the gas pedal. The cpu has been switched out and the accelerator pedal has been replaced. How much money do we dump in this? this seems to be a common issue from what I am reading on the internet.

Electronic Stability Control problem #7

Horn, steering wheel buttons, power steering and driver side airbag are not working as a result of a faulty clock spring.

Electronic Stability Control problem #8

The abs/esc and/or brake system warning lights came on. At various times the lights would illuminate and then would turn off after an ignition key cycle. (these are the exact problems that vw had with abs modules in earlier models. I am not positive if this is true but while doing research on those models, I read that these abs module issues typically came up after 105,000 to 110,0000 miles on the vehicle. My vehicle is just now with in that range) after taking it to a shop, the mechanic needed to replace the abs module, totaling around $1200. Note: date listed is an approximate date.

Electronic Stability Control problem #9

There was a recall previously 15595 according to gm. While driving power steering and stabilitrak goes out making it very hard to steer and dangerous, especially if you are going around a turn. Fortunately I was able to pull over each time and reset the car. Once you start it, no problem. It goes back to normal. However this has happened half a dozen times during the dead of winter and happened once a few days ago when we had record heat. As I mentioned no problem driving typically, which makes me believe the issue is not with the power steering but with a faulty connection. I took the vehicle into the shop on March 16, 2019. They said the recall item was already fixed previously. The diagnosed that the steering gear and rack needs to be replaced. I have read online similar situations with other owners. I believe this is very dangerous and GMC needs to repair this. This was something I found online describing the issue in more detail: "in the affected vehicles, the torque-sensor harness connector was damaged duringfunctional testing at the supplier. A 'stuck' pin on the steering gear supplier's testdevice caused permanent deformation to the contact springs in the torque-sensorharness connector, which affected the electrical connection in the steering gearconnector. ".

Electronic Stability Control problem #10

Tl- the contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated while driving at various mph the vehicle would idle along with the epc light and the engine lights illuminated. The vehicle also struggles to shift gears (accelarting properly) and at low speeds the vehicle emit an abnormal noise in the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (heritage Volkswagen catonsville 6624 baltimore national pike, baltimore, MD 21228) for diagnosis and repairs. The diagnosis was a replacement fuel pump module, fuel injector,) however the failure reoccured. The manufacturer was notified but offered no resolution. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000 tp.

Electronic Stability Control problem #11

Upon entering the freeway my car stalled out and loss power. Took to the nearby dealership. Was told it was the ecm control module which will cost me $1697. 00 to fix . It's a five day fix and my car wont return until Wednesday. 2016 vw Passat electrical engine misfire. Dealership is vw of ontario the car is there now. Since there is a recall I'm wondering about reimbursement. The computer module of a car down not usually go out at 100k miles. Vehicle was in motion. Contact me at (xxxx). My name is (xxxxx). Thanks parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Electronic Stability Control problem #12

The headlights go very dim 2 seconds after they are turned on. It's very dangerous because you cant see anything more than 3 inches in front of you.

Electronic Stability Control problem #13

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that cruise control failed to engage. The error message button for driver assistance system defected. Was displayed. The tire pressure light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer Volkswagen of gainesville 3737 n main st, gainesville, FL 32609(352) 578-2554 who stated that a switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failures appeared after NHTSA campaign number 15v483000 air bags was repaired on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000. The VIN was not available. Ap.

Electronic Stability Control problem #14

My 2013 vw Passat 3. 6 sel lacks a elec stability control switch on the vehicle. As a result, the traction is terrible on this vehicle in rain, snow, and sleet. The engine has a knocking noise, even though I service the vehicle at vw every 10,000 miles as required in the owner's manual. This vehicle has major electrical problems, such as the seat belt light illuminating, and I lose tension in my driver seat belt. That is a huge safety flaw for this $40,000 vehicle.

Electronic Stability Control problem #15

The steering wheel lock was defective on my 2009 Volkswagen Passat. The vehicle had less than 35000 miles on it. This is a safety issue. The steering wheel locked up on several different occasions while I was trying to take the vehicle out of the garage. The steering wheel lock also caused the vehicle to stall. In addition, it could cause the vehicle to shake while it is being driven. Volkswagen USA admitted that this part is an issue. They issued several technical service bulletins about the steering wheel column lock. Several other makes and models of Volkswagens were recalled as a result of this issue. I am seeking judgement from Volkswagen in the amount of $588. 91, which is the cost of repair. Volkswagen refuses to pay for the safety issue because the car only had a 3 yr warranty. I will never purchase another Volkswagen ever. They are not willing to work with the consumer. The vehicle has been repaired by a Volkswagen dealer on 12/28/2018.

Electronic Stability Control problem #16

My steering wheel was affected, no horn, loss of air bags, locked trunk. Was diagnosed with clock spring problem (previously reported). These problems seemed to appear randomly and not all at once. Is under your forced recall, but was allowed to exclude certain vehicles??? had to fix it for around $500. Not previously reported--on the way home--I no longer had a cruise control. Vw charged me $143. 50 just to diagnose it and tell me it would cost $720. 97 to replace it. I have already replaced the air bag. Also, last year my car started spontaneously locking and relockting my car while driving. . I took it to vw. They said it needed replacing (without diagnosis). They couldn't work me in so I left. The problem just disappeared ???.

Electronic Stability Control problem #17

The engine lost it's power, gas consuption is so high, engine is shaking and noisy and wlectrical controle is down randomly. Am scared of driving it.

Electronic Stability Control problem #18

All lights came on at same time, no notable reason given for issue. Just told costs associated aren't under warranty or recalls.

Electronic Stability Control problem #19

Pulling out of driveway epc light comes on. Total loss of power and engine speed set to 1800rpm in "safe mode" no one knows exactly what is wrong. Mechanics cannot ttell me what is wrong. Dealership vw has no idea and want to start replacing items in descriminately and I don't have that kind of money to throw around and besides. The people that built the car can't figure it out. This is a huge safety issue. Computer faults and shuts down the power at hiway speeds and sometimes car stalls out. This is very dangerous and happening to hundreds maybe thousands of people I'm reading online and talking with other owners.

Electronic Stability Control problem #20

There was a recall on clockspring, and the repair was a clockspring cover that was repaired on my vehicle in March of 2016. July 2018 my clockspring had to be completely replaced costing $650. There was also an airbag recall that caused my horn to stop working, airbag light to come on, at the same exact time the clockspring stopped working. I took my vehicle to a dealership 2 days ago to have the clockspring looked at and the recall on the airbag repaired. The dealership informed me that I would have to purchase a new clockspring because only the cover was considered a recall, however obvioiusly this was not a sufficient clockspring repair.

Electronic Stability Control problem #21

Drained my battery all time, turned off in middle the I driving it. For couple months I been experience this situation. First I was came back for work, I was in mays landing area, I was waiting for the light change, when my cart turned off. After several minutes turned on again, I drove for 10 minutes and again turning off. I bought a new battery, my car worked perfectly for 3 day, I was in my job ready to came home when my car never start again.

Electronic Stability Control problem #22

The issue with my vehicle has been an ongoing thing since I purchased it it is now paid for even under warranty it was misdiagnosed the braking system pulsates and I was told that was normal because they had just change the brakes and then now the dashboard lights up like a christmas tree it tells me that the there's a few the steering wheel lights up the airbag lights up the road condition lights up and then I would turn the car off a pulsates when I'm breaking at 60 miles an hour or 70 miles an hour. I've taken the vehicle back to the dealership and as was there any recalls and the only recall was something I had to do nothing with the the vehicle issues they do not seem Volkswagen does not seem to find these issues that I'm reading in previous messages an issue but it's our safety so I'm very concerned about even purchasing another Volkswagen.

Electronic Stability Control problem #23

Takata recall the fuel pump water pump and power loss.

Electronic Stability Control problem #24

My vehicle was a part of the vehicles that had the clockspring recall. I took it to a vw dealership to have the recall fixed and exactly one year after they 'fixed' the clockspring, it ceased to work again. Now the airbag warning light is on, the horn does not work, and neither do any of the steering wheel controls. Vw refuses to fix the issue without a charge of upwards of $500, stating that because it is not apart of the initial recall it is not their responsibility.

Electronic Stability Control problem #25

Car keeps randomly shutting off. Loses power while idling and difficult to start. Will lose power and cut off also while driving. Check engine light will not stay on or come on.

Electronic Stability Control problem #26

Fuel pump control module I have a special needs child that requires me to be in my vehicle 85% of the time I have loved my vw Passat and enjoyed driving it up till about 1. 5 years its been one fix after another some major some not ive had check engine light problems, adding oil in between changes tire rod etc this issue im having at this time is on recall list ( fuel pump control) I have been put in several unsafe moments left stranded. I have been on hwy my car stalls out cause driving back an fourth to duke hospital im on hwy alot, I am still paying on this vehicle w/ ( $7000. 00) owed on it im uncomfortable putting my children an myself in my car I have contacted vw several times about this with same response no info no replacement part no nothing. . . . . . . I have had the air bag recall fixed but this is a very very serious issue right here I will go above an beyond to get something done I am without a car at the moment last night on 1/22/2018 I was left once again stranded this time didnt start back like getting no fuel very unhappy . . Please get this straight ASAP I still have to pay my loan for a car that isnt running at 100% with a major recall.

Electronic Stability Control problem #27

My car won't start but check engine light is on. I need my car fixed. It shows there is a recall for this on my vehicle. It says remedy not yet found. What does that mean? I'm not going to responsible for fixing this. This light came on while driving on the highway. Once I stopped the car it wouldn't restart.

Electronic Stability Control problem #28

Takata recall: I phoned vw customer care on 08/10/2016 requesting a recall letter but never received it. I reported this to jonathan bradley/hallmark vw used car salesman. I reported to gossett vw service agent jeff who said my recall date was 09/30/2017. 08/25/2017 airbag warning light flashed this one time. The low tire indicator came on 09/13/2017 so I drove to gossett to have my tires inflated. The technician did not re-set the indicator in the glove compartment per jennifer osbourn/servide agent as it was locked. When I drove the car again on 09/16/17 the abs, traction control, seat belt pretensior & low tire indicator light illuminated. Got appointment on 09/22/17 to have their work inspected. I also asked for authorization to repair the takata airbag. On 09/22/17 gossett refused to touch the car unless I paid them $140. 00 diagnostic fee. Following the diagnostic I was told it would cost another $140. 00 to clean dirt from the short to the passenger seat sensor. No problems existed prior to the 09/13/ visit to inflate the tires. Total paid was $340. 41. Following this visit the re-set is inoperable, the low tire indicator, seat belt, airbag and traction control lights come on and off each time the vehicle is turned on and flash in and out during driving. The esp/abs light in the middle panel on the dash comes on, the fuel filler flap door is malfunctioning in the reverse order for this year vehicle, error airbag and error esp/abs warnings come on. On 09/22/17 my vehicle was returned with broken off part # vw 8e038813348e>abs< front passenger floor. Reported via mail toal gossett/ceo, vw customer care live chat, telephone to jennifer osborn/service agent, dwayne hill/service manager gossett germantown. Tuesday, 10/17/I received a call from jason tripp but have not been able to make contact with him to date.

Electronic Stability Control problem #29

Too sensitive esc issue on 2017 Passat could cause safety hazard I have been experiencing the super sensitive esc that engaged at 35 miles/hour or more at highway entrance and exit with 2017 Passat r line. This 35 miles limit is too low compared with vw 2014 jetta se, 2016 jetta 1. 8t, 2014 Subaru forester, 2017 Subaru outback, 2007 mercedes c230, 2011 c300 I own/ed. Driver's perception is not much change due to the car model, especially within the same oem like vw, the corner is designed to support more than 50 miles/hour, but the Passat has super sensitive esc that engaged unexpectedly at the such low speed and it could cause a sudden tire traction change that could trigger car spin or flip at worst case. My experiences were at dry road condition only and not been exposed to the wet or icy road in a past, but other consumer may facing the same issue at some other state by the different road condition. Local dealer and vw have help tested and try changing the symptoms by 1. Change tire due to one of the tire's circumference was 1 inch off, 2. Change speed sensor, 3. Change bearing, and 4. Change abs ecu, but no improvement been observed. Although this might be contradicted, but one of the loner Passat r line have not showing the issue, and another brand-new Passat in a lot have the same symptoms. I understand that this sensitivity issue might different by the unit assembly/alignment, or depending on the parts been used for each unit. Tested at multiple locations: CA 237 e to north 1st st exit, CA 85 n to el camino real n exit, us-101 & san tomas expy interchange x 4 corners, us-101 to n matilda south exit, I-280 & wolf rd entrance/exit vw should adjust the sensitivity to be same as other standard models. If they say this is the standard, then the car is useless. (especially for the r line that should support much sportier driving. ).

Electronic Stability Control problem #30

Without warning my car just shut down and when I take it to the shop they tell me it has a blow head gasket.

Electronic Stability Control problem #31

While driving the car power cuts off and stops in traffic. Have to restart. It is dangerous that the car just stops in traffic. The battery continues to drain even after totally recharging the battery. After a complete battery recharge and starting the car every day, the battery still drains again after about a week. This started happening in June 2016 and I have only driven the car about 30 total miles because afraid it is going to shut down while driving in traffic. Recently, I received a recall for this problem for my 2016 Volkswagen cc but I am not having the problem with the cc. I am having the described recall problem with my 2003 Passat but did not receive a recall notification for it. I am the original owner and my Passat needs this repair.

Electronic Stability Control problem #32

There is an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This resulting in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, this happened today on highway and almost I was going to have a fatal accident. Us. Vw and the delar are not taking any action at that regard, they stated today that I pay to the repair and they will emberse me later. Pleas note that there is a recall on the fuel pump control module to solve that issue. Safety risk.

Electronic Stability Control problem #33

Airbag warning lights came on with a statement about faulty airbag . . . Epc warning lights came on first when vehicle was in motion. Vehcle was stopped. On re-start, air bag warning lights came on. Vehicle was iddling and stationary.

Electronic Stability Control problem #34

Abs system is failing. Anti-lock brakes do not work well, dashboard abs signals are constantly on. Parking brake light constantly flashes. Just called vw USA customer service. There is a recall for this issue (NHTSA campaign number: 16v-913) but the recall covers model years 2009 and 2010. My car is a 2006, but has the exact same issues. Volkswagon would not offer any repairs or diagnostics since my vehicle was not listed on the recall. Perhaps the amount of vehicles affected is larger than the recall points out?.

Electronic Stability Control problem #35

The wire harness burned through installation reaching to compressor.

Electronic Stability Control problem #36

Abs light comes on while driving brakes light flashes on and off with noise.

Electronic Stability Control problem #37

Recently my 2015 vw Passat stalled while stopped at a red light. Dealer advised that it was giving codes for a malfunctioning air intake absolute pressure sensor. After it was replaced under warranty, the engine continued to run very rough and seemed to be sluggish. On taking it back to the dealer I have been advised that the code for the absolute pressure sensor has reappeared and vw suspects that it is an engine electrical harness problem which is due for replacement. Additionally, the esc light lit up on the dashboard one evening and stayed on for about an hour and went away after the engine had been turned off for about an hour. Based on other complaints I read, there appears to be a pattern in such malfunctions - either electrical or computer-related. If the car were to stall or go out of control in full traffic, it could lead to a potentially life-threatening situation.

Electronic Stability Control problem #38

Air bag did not deploy in highway accident.

Electronic Stability Control problem #39

Bought car from atlanta luxury motors of union city georgia and they say they can sell car with recalls if there is no fix status. The air bags sound as if they want to jump out.

Electronic Stability Control problem #40

Exactly 28 days after first breakdown had another exactly the same. See your previous report #10818720. Driving to work on highway 2014 vw Passat engine lights came on. Car can not go over 30mph & decreasing speed. Tow truck called, mechanic & dealership, rental car, & private insurance all again. Dealership stated chewed wires from squirrels & does not cover under warranty. 1st time $2,700. 2nd time $700. Learned of soy-based coating on wires. Local farmers & government grass cutter workers have chewed wires on their tractors also. Pleae investigate. Please recall. Please help.

Electronic Stability Control problem #41

Fuel pump control module causes consistent stalling at startup. Recall states could cause a loss of power while in motion.

Electronic Stability Control problem #42

2014 Volkswagen Passat diesel. Ownership 1/1/2 yrs. Mileage 14,000. Driving to work could not go over 30mph. Dashboard light came on showing emission control monitor & pre glow. Thought it was due to colder weather. Had to be towed & at dealership now for repair. Complete breakdown. Vw mechanic stating there is major damage due to a rodent or squirell problem. Stated the wiring is chewed up even in the headlights. I am the only car owner in the parish and in the neighborhood with this problem?? have warranty but vw said this is not covered under warranty. Had to get rental car. Waiting for state farm insurance adjuster to go to dealership. Help! please send a NHTSA rep to investigate and look at vehicle.

Electronic Stability Control problem #43

There was a recall on the clock spring. I brought it in for service and it got replaced 10/7/15. It snapped again 5 months later was replaced 3/8/16. It snapped again 6 months later. Now volkwagon offers a 12,000 mile 12 year warranty on parts. I bright the vehicle in 10/18/16 and they told me it wasn't covered under warranty. This is a major safety issue seeing that it controls my horn and will not let my airbag deploy. I have contacted vw headquarters several times concerning this on going issue. They replaced the part under a goodwill which it should've been replaced under the recall & the warranty.

Electronic Stability Control problem #44

Tl-the contact owns a 2003 vw Passat. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while driving at various speeds. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic whom performed a diagnostic the engine oxygen sensor, the coil spring the sparks plugs and wires were replaced however the failure was not corrected. The contact stated that vehicle rear tail light also failed. The rear tail lights was not repaired. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000. Li.

Electronic Stability Control problem #45

The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that the vehicle veered to the right without warning at 25 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they diagnosed that the vehicle alignment was not proper. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 380.

Electronic Stability Control problem #46

This is my third complaint about this vehicle. During the August flooding, while driving home from work and passing through some water piles my car lost the bottom engine cover, lower grill broke, got them replaced no problem. Winter comes and when it gets cold front door freezes shut, remote start barely works only when it wants too. Also no problem. We got out first winter storm thank god I had put new tires before this. However driving home some areas had a bit of snow first I get stuck and cant turn off traction control. Then my lower grill breaks again. Is the grill made out of water bottle plastic. If every time there is a storm I need to spend 250 dollars on a lower grill that is just a wonderful car expense. You try and trade in the car and the value just dropped. This is my first and last vw. Horrible quality that a bumper can't with stand some accumulation of snow. I will file a complaint with vw as well, lets hope they do something about it. Plus they still did not correct the navigation and bluetooth issue.

Electronic Stability Control problem #47

Vw has no traction control (not stability control) button to defeat the system at low speeds. When there is snow and ice on an incline of any degree, this is downright dangerous. It retards the power the car delivers by applying brakes to wheels that are slipping. I was on a hill and the car was reduced to 3-6 miles per hour with cars behind me and oncoming. It is designed as a safety system but is doing the opposite on slick inclines. Probably a money saving measure, but puts drivers at risk.

Electronic Stability Control problem #48

I feel there is a safety issue with my 2013 volkswagon Passat. There is know way to bypass the electronic traction control. Every other car I've owned including my 2005 Passat has a button that allow you to bypass the traction control. The Passat is designed to shut the engine down when the tires begin to spin. This may help a novice driver or be helpful in the rain, but when your in the snow or ice and on a hill or incline it is dangerous to have the engine cut off and leave you stopped. It is almost impossible to get traction on a hill or to get any momentum when the car shuts the engine down when the tires spin. This leaves you at a stand still and vulnerable to cars or trucks behind you. The Passat should be designed to bypass the traction control under these circumstances,so you can spin the tires to get momentum, so you can at least move off the roadway. It is necessary to spin the tires under certain circumstances so at least you can move the car to a safe location. I would hate to see someone get hurt because the Passat becomes immobile when the tires spin.

Electronic Stability Control problem #49

While driving on the freeway, multiple dashboard warning lights came on. I noticed the speedometer was not working. I pulled off the freeway, called for a tow truck. The car would not start for the tow truck driver.

Electronic Stability Control problem #50

The vehicle heated up due to a fault in vw's Passat cooling system and smoke started to come out from engine. I was driving at around 25 miles / km only. I towed the car to mechanic and had to do a costly repair for water pump, timing belt, etc. I see there is an open recall for this kind of issue in water pump in Passats, so I truly believe the water pump was faulty from manufacturer side. I would like to be repaid for the money I have already spent on this.

Electronic Stability Control problem #51

Car beeps and displays the abs light and the brake light. At first they appear and then disappear. On 6/12/2014 the abs is on each time I start the vehicle plus the brake light flashes throughout the duration of the drive. On two occurrences the traction control off light came on and remained on. The fear is that I have lost abs and traction control, and also that the e-brake or brakes will engage while in motion. Multiple occurrences of this have occurred in vw Passat forums and most suggest taking out the abs module and having it refurbished due to a hair sensor that goes faulty on the Passat. Many requests have been made to have this part recalled and fixed, I am adding my request to the other parties involved.

Electronic Stability Control problem #52

I purchased a 2006 Passat 3. 6 on February 20th,2014 and making payments on it. Two weeks later I had to take it back to the dealer because the idle was up and down. They charged me $700 because the car was as is. Once I got the car back I starter seeing the epc light which is a common issue with Volkswagen and now the car wont go over 40mph , two weeks ago I saw smoke coming from under the hood and oil was all over the place and I cant locate any type of leak. . Electronic Stability Control problem #53

Car was constantly getting the passager side (front and back) flooded w water during a rain storm. Had to get new battery cleaned out sunroof drainage. It didn't matter. Whenever it rained the battery would be dead because the control module which is there is all messed up sending mixed messages. Finely just died in the middle of the road. Not worth putting money into the car. I purchased this car less then a year ago and had this problem after the first rain and went down from their. Im so disappointed hoping buying a used vw I was going to be satisfied but had nothing trouble from day one.

Electronic Stability Control problem #54

I purchased a 2014 Volkswagen Passat tdi sel on 03-31-2014. I was driving it home when I went through a freeway interchange at highway speeds. The road was dry and other vehicles were going through the interchange at a speed faster than me. The electronic stability control (esc) applied the brakes in such a way that it tried to straight my vehicle out int the turn, causing me to nearly hit the guard rail. I took my car in to the vw dealer the next morning and told them about the esc issue and the fact the car pulled to the right (alignment issue). They checked it and found nothing and even said the alignment was fine. They said the esc sounded normal to them. I've been driving the same roads for 20 years and I knew this wasn't normal. I made videos of the esc car slowing me down below highway speeds around sweeping corners. I was taking my daughter home one day and a Ford explorer nearly rear ended me. I've taken the car back two additional times, during which they corrected the alignment and fixed a trim panel that was falling down. The esc they maintain is working perfectly. The funny thing is I also have a 2014 vw jetta tdi that never engages the esc, though is equipped with the same system. I drove a 2014 vw cc as a loaner and the esc never engaged. This system is going to kill someone if vw is allowed to tell consumers there isn't a problem with their programming or hardware.

Electronic Stability Control problem #57

While going around a right corner at highway speeds on a dry day and other vehicles going much faster than my vehicle. The car applied the brakes in an aggressive manner in the opposing direction of the turn as if it wanted me to go straight I almost got into an accident with the vehicle in the left lane. I immediately contacted Volkswagen about the issue. I first brought the car in on 1/13/14 and was told no malfunctions found. I took the car in again on 2/15/14 and was told vehicle is operating as designed. I took the car in again on 3/14/14 to a different dealership and this time they found that the tires were set at 41. 5 psi. The recommend pressure is 30psi. I was told that with higher psi the wheels would bounce and could loose traction. I never had to a air to any of my tires since purchase. During these occasion my vehicle has been in and out of the shop for a number of reason along with a squeaking suspension and backup camera issues and at not time no one noticed the additional 11 psi. After driving for a week it did the same thing again on 3/21/14 even after the tire pressure adjustment. I am schedule to bring the vehicle back to the dealer 3/27/14. All this time I'm left to drive this unsafe vehicle because Volkswagen wants to try again and fix the problems without giving me a loaner to avoid the lemon law of 30 out of use in maryland. So far it's been 20days out of use because of the repairs.

Electronic Stability Control problem #59

Our new 2013 tdi Passat, from day one has had the issue of intermittently dragging, pulling crunching noise coasting through a corner in the front left wheel. It varies from a soft tug and crunch noise, to so hard it pulls you into oncoming traffic! it seems to be while maintaining speed or coasting, never while braking. After about 3-4th time into the service department and everything checking out fine, we finally got them to come up and ride with me on our road. (we do live on a mountain road that is a posted 55mph with some 40mph curves) the car did it and the service manager said, "hmmm. " he said its their top of the line car and thinks its the stability control system. I asked if it was only in the front left wheel? he said "no. " I asked how come it drags and pulls the front left no matter if it's a left or right turn, and is it supposed to do it so hard some times that it pulls you into oncoming traffic? he said "no. "he said it sounds like a systems issue because we have known other people that have taken their tdi's in for this exact same issue so it's not just a sensor in this particular car. We called 3 days later to see if they had a resolve and they said the car is "fine and functioning normal, that I took the corner 8 mph too fast and the car did it's job"!! I am concerned for my family's safety as we have stated numerous times and given them every opportunity to address this and yet to no avail. This car does this everyday. It's not normal to say to your spouse that if I'm involved in an accident on our road, especially a head-on, it was the front left wheel that did it. These cars have a safety defect in this system and I want everyone to know. I don't know where to go from here.

I was driving 45miles on the road when my 2003 vw Passat 1. 8t started to shake like crazy. Then the engine started to feel like it was going out. . Smoke came from my hood. My car stopped and the driver behind me swerved out the way but clipped me on the right side of my vehicle. No damage to the car or my own.

On 11/15/11 @33,125 miles when accelerating intermittently shift into neutral correct back to drive "could not be replicated" by vw service. Then, car started to become "hesitant" on acceleration from a stop or when on driving. 1/16/12, hesitation more frequent; vw service took a short drive, could not replicate "it's not an issue unless mil" (recommended new wiper blades). 3/6/12, @ 41,117 miles, continued to intermittently hesitate/wanted to stall/ neutral" no engine light (mil); 3/14/12 @ 41,595 miles, left headlight bulb replaced. 6/7/12, while in traffic on expressway approximate speed was 20mph, car hesitated to move with flow of traffic then immediately after hesitation, 2 things occurred @same time, I was rear-ended & engine light (mil) came on. Then car hesitated as I went to pull over. Mil went off then flickered on. I called vw service the mil was off & was told that rear-ended caused the flicker. Mil cont to intermittently go on & off. On 6/30/12 @47,098 miles, mil on steering locked up car hesitating; vw service was informed that auto body shop stated obd car misfiring; replaced l headlight again-car passed inspection. On 7/12/12 @ 48347 miles, mil vw swapped wires again; mil, hesitation while driving, & shifting issue still intermittent; 3/2/13@ 64070 miles mil on l headlight bulb replaced; 3/30/13 mil replace spark plugs; 4/15/13 @ 65,689 mil ignition coil manifold fuel injectors replaced; returned 4/16/13 hesitation rebreather corrected; safety inspection mil on forced car to passed. Mil stays on still hesitates @78,942 water pump; @79000 car hesitating stalling mil intake valve fuel injector need cleaning - l headlight again; @91,195, left headlight replaced vehicle ret to me by vw with mil & steering lock lights on refused to repair 100,191 miles mil still on 107,290 vw forced fail safety inspection mil came on &has never gone off.

Electronic Stability Control problem #62

The vehicle experiences excessive "wheel hop" upon starting from a stopped position, especially on a wet roadway and a hill. The tires just cannot get traction and spin. As well once the wheels start to spin the ecs (stability control system) cuts power and applies braking which has lead to dangerous situations especially when pulling into traffic. There is no ecs disable switch as with previous models, so I cannot temporarily disable the system for troubleshooting of the issue. Losing power while pulling out into the flow of traffic and experiencing a power loss is a safety hazard. The car came with hankook optima h426 tires and I switched to yokohoma avid envigor (v rated) tires believing the issue was the tires. I am an experienced driver with 33 years of driving and have tried everything from light acceleration, feathering the accelerator, using the s mode of the tiptonic transmission and using the tiptronic control in d mode to hold the transmission in the lower gear and trying to start in a higher gear to reduce the torque to the wheels, but the tiptronic will not allow upshifting when stopped. I raised this concern with the dealership since the wheel hop causing banging of the suspension system against the travel stops. This thumping and extreme movement of the suspension cannot be good for the longevity of the equipment. The dealership states "it is performing to specs as designed. " well then I think there is a design flaw.

Bought the 2006 vw Passat in Feb of 2009 @ 11,000 miles. The problems started @ 22,900 battery cable (harness) needed replacement; @ 25,012 steering column and control unit had to be replaced, system would lock the wheel; @ 26,096 couldn't open gas door, gas actuator faulty and replaced; @ 32,390 cat converter internally broken, replaced; but the scariest was @ 37,280 traction light and epc light pops on and vehicle loses power, internal fault in throttle body, replaced but not repaired as of today 37,438 lights have reappeared.

Electronic Stability Control problem #64

06 vw Passat, I was driving and the engine light, the epc and another light came on and all of a sudden the car lost all power and wouldn't go past 15 mph and 20 rpm. Very dangerous when you are driving and this happens, there should be a recall for this problem. Car has 44, 960 miles and not sure if it's under warranty, will find out tomorrow.

Electronic Stability Control problem #65

At around 85,000 miles abs/traction control lights turned on and parking brake light started flashing. I took it to the dealership and was told that the abs module faulted and needed to be replaced.

2000 Volkswagen Passat 4 dr sedan abs anti-lock braking system control module failed.

Electronic Stability Control problem #67

I own a 2003 vw Passat. Recently. I took my car for repair as my brakes were not responding on turns. The vw dealer investigated the issue and I was told that the "abs control module" is not communicating for some reason. They suggested I replace the abs control module for around $2,216 I called vw and asked them to look into the issue and see if they can cover the expenses of the repair since this is not a normal tear and wear issue. They responded by saying that since the car is not within the warranty period, they cannot cover the expenses of this repair. I feel that is a safety issue that vw of America needs to cover the repair for. In fact I think they should have been more pro-active and investigate the abs control module in my care after they replace it to see if there is a major issue that can result in a recall. I understand that my car is not within warranty; but given the fact that this is a safety issue, I think vw should cover it and pay the repair cost.

Electronic Stability Control problem #68

Abs / brake light warning on dashboard. It happens occasionally, but it getting more common. It is not a constant warning. It does not happen on every drive of the vehicle. Have read that it is common on this era of vehicles.

Electronic Stability Control problem #69

I have a '00 vw Passat, and belong to Passatworld. Com I bought this car brand new in 2000, and now the car just has 90k on the odometer. My abs control module just went bad, as many many vw and Audi owners have experienced. I think this is way too soon for this to happen, have kept the car in excellent shape, have followed all recommended maintenance schedules, etc. For such a potentially life-saving piece of equipment (abs and traction control, which the module controls,) you'd think vw would use a longer lasting part that is not prone to early failure.

Electronic Stability Control problem #70

I was driving approximately 25 miles a hour by my house while I was driving a big click noise sounded on my front right wheel the car swerved and fell in a ditch the police came and the car was towed to a mechanic and he told me it was your tie rod and axle broken I had to change them. Plus my abs system is not working and it needs a new module and it seems like every Passat out there have no problem and the dealer wont help or vw hotline plus my two front windows just fell and the windows need a whole new actuators and on the internet alot of the Passat have that problem and the dealer wont help there is five recalls on Passat and the dealer don't want to do but 1 of them so please help me.

Electronic Stability Control problem #71

My 1998 vw Passat glx began exhibiting a flashing/beeping red light to indicate a failure in the abs system. Upon further research with other owners of this vehicle, it has come to my attention that this failure is fairly common on 1998-2001 Passats, but no action has ever been taken by the manufacturer. I had the abs module rebuilt and did the removal and installation work myself; the result was $220 out of pocket. However, many people who have sought dealership service work for this same problem have spent well in excess of $1,000. Given the apparent failure rate of this module and the fact that it is a core safety feature of the car, it is my opinion that it should be considered for recall (including compensation for those who have already made the repair). Thank you.

Electronic Stability Control problem #74

The contact owns a 2003 Volkswagen Passat wagon. While attempting to accelerate from 5 mph, the vehicle would not move forward and began to vibrate. The contact pulled over and noticed a burning odor coming from the brakes. When he touched the wheels, they were extremely hot. The vehicle had stability control, traction control, and abs. All four brakes were applied when he attempted to accelerate. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle. The abs light illuminated along with another light (he did not remember which light). After he allowed the vehicle to cool down and attempted to start the engine, all of the lights illuminated on the instrument panel. He continued to drive, but the failure recurred. He took the vehicle to a Volkswagen dealer in indiana and was instructed on where to find the fuse to deactivate the abs, traction control, and stability control. The service manager stated that they had seen audis experience the same failure with the same engine and features. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
