1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2008 Volkswagen R32

Failure Date: 09/03/2008

This is the second time I am bringing this to the dealer. While driving the engine dies and cant start it again. Had to get it towed to dealer in the middle of nowhere. Dealer asked what was wrong I said it felt as if the battery died and the engine just died. They tried fixing it and it happened again. This time however I was able to drive it to the dealer before it died again. Same problem. Volkswagen dealer has it and had it over a week. My service advisor doesn't even know what the problem is and cant promise me a date when they will have it ready. I feel unsafe because of the fact the car just dies in the middle of the road.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2004 Volkswagen R32

Failure Date: 07/13/2008

On July 13, 2008 while driving my 2004 volkwagen R32 I noticed that the car was driving really rough after I made an exit from the expressway when I made it to a complete stop I noticed the smell of electrical/plastic fire. I pulled into a parking spot and observed smoke coming from under the hood. I opened the hood and smoke and flames were coming from the center of the engine area I was able to extinguish the flames before it spread. The device that was causing the fire is called a coil pack. This is the first time this has happened to me. I took the vehicle to the dealer to have it repaired. I did keep the old parts and took photos of the damage. The dealer repaired the burnt coil pack connector however they did not have the actual coil pack to replace the damaged one. I was able to locate a replacement oem through a different parts retailer. The dealer charged me to repair the burned connector as my car is no longer under warranty.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2008 Volkswagen R32

Failure Date: 08/30/2007

My brand-new 08 vw makes severe hiccups on moderate acceleration when the outside temperature is above about 95 f. (sudden loss of power and come back up in short period of time. )have starting problem after the symptom, sometimes smell of gas from outside rear. The problem does not leave any error codes on computer, therefore dealers cannot fix or replicate problem. (usually takes about 30 min constant drive in the hot weather to have the symptom. ) had numerous visit to a vw dealer but no fix. Always end up with my claim comments; "customer states. . . " and dealer states, "can not replicate the problem". I keep having the same problem since last year, only when outside is really hot (for California), above 95f. Total of 6-7 days I've had the same problem since last year.
