2 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit

Failure Date: 12/18/2016

The air bag light is on and the horn is not working. Dealer diagnosed problem as a broken clock spring. Other vws have been recalled for the same problem, but mine is not included in the recall. I was told the airbag will not work in the event of a crash and I think the horn is needed in order to alert drivers around me in the case of an emergency. Both safety problems are caused by the same broken clock spring and should be included in the recall.

3 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit

Failure Date: 09/17/2016

Takata recall, the air bag light appeared on the dashboard. I brought my vehicle to a local Volkswagen dealer to check it and I was the air bag defected on the passenger side; and I was told that the air bag was not on the recall. I wonder why Volkswagen Rabbit 2007 was not on the recall? my vehicle just had 68047 miles. I look forward to getting info ASAP. Thanks.

4 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

The airbag light came on, because the clock spring is bad. This has also caused the horn button to not work. Sometimes the horn honks when I make sharp turns. It is unclear whether or not the driver airbag would deploy in the event of an impact, but from what I can tell it is quite unlikely. This also effects the functionality of the buttons on the sticks on either side of the steering wheel for the cruise control, the multi function display, and the windshield wipers. Sometimes those buttons work, sometimes they don't and sometimes they do things they aren't designed to do. From the research I have done this is a problem which occurs very frequently with this car.

5 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Rabbit

Failure Date: 08/09/2012

On two separate incidents I had my air bags light came on. I brought it to the Volkswagen dealer and they fixed the wires under the seat the first time at no charge the second time I was charged $100. 00. The problem was the same but on both seats first, was the passengers seat the second time, was the drivers seatdriver seat. I contacted customer care at Volkswagen and they said due to the age and mileage (2006 with 69000 miles ) the cost wont be covered I feel that since this is a safety issue and other people have had the same issue (internet) they should be a recall and reimbursement for repairs.
