While operating the vehicle the car stalled an simply stopped in the middle of driving. Completely ridiculous, very dangerous! your website states that vehicles same year, make and model and manfu date thevsame have recalls for exact same issue. This is urgent. This could cause the death of me or my family. It must be fixed by vw, especially when recalls are there for some.

The vehicle's right-rear axle trailing arm broke while driving at a very low speed. The break is very clean and is located near the front of the trailing arm's cutout area, just behind the trailing arm mounting bracket.

In turning into a parking lot I heard a "ping" in the rear of the vehicle. I immediately felt a loss of control in the rear suspension. It was clear that the vehicle was not roadworthy at that point and we had it towed to a repair shop. We were informed that the rear axle had broken.
Beginning on 2/09/2012 through 8/19/2013 there have been (3) incidents on this VIN of at least (1) wheel causing a servere vibration while driving. Upon inspection, the first (2) incidents revealed that the right front wheel had its lug nuts loosening while the other (3) wheels nug nuts were all tight and torqued to specs. On the last incident on 8/19/2013 (3) of the (5) right front wheel studs broke off causing severe vibration in the vehicle. Vehicle became inoperable and required a tow to the dealer.
Vehicle pulls to the right. Vehicle was taken to dealer three times for repair and to an independent dealer. Alignment performed each time, but vehicle continues to pull to right. Dealer and vwoa state that because alignment is within spec there is nothing that can be done. I indicated that problem is likely with steering rack, suspension or sub frame, but dealer and vwoa insisted that because alignment is within spec there is nothing else they will do. Vehicle continues to pull to the right and driving vehicle requires constant pressure on wheel to keep the vehicle straight.
Since purchasing the vehicle as a new car in October of 2009 we have experienced intermittent but chronically reoccurring issues with violent shaking during braking on our 2009 vw Routan. To work the problem the rear brake rotors and pads were replaced by the oem three months after purchasing the vehicle. The problem persisted & after repeated visits to the dealer the front brakes and rotors were replaced by the oem at 15,019 miles on October 27, 2010. Vibration during breaking still persisted at highway speeds but was manageable. In July of 2013 heavy vibration returned. The dealer informed us all four tires had uneven wear and would need to be replaced, along with all 4 air pressure gauges. Shaking continued so we then paid to have the front rotors and brake pads replaced again at 47,300 miles (appx) on August 6, 2013. As of now the vehicle still vibrates at highway speed braking although less violently. We believe several issues are at play possibly: - inferior or defective brake rotors, both factory installed and oem replacement rotors - chronic stability issue at highway speeds - uneven wear on tires which contributed to more rapid wear and tear - near simultaneous failure of all 4 air pressure gauges before 50,000 miles. We have kept the replaced tire pressure gauges, break rotors and pads if NHTSA would like to examine.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Routan. The contact was driving 35 mph when the vehicle began abnormally pulling to the right, causing difficulty in steering. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to have a wheel alignment performed and to have the tires rotated yet the failure persisted. The contact stated there were many complaints online regarding the same year, make and model as his with complaints of the vehicle pulling to the right independently. The contact was concerned of a potential crash involved with the failure occurring. The failure mileage was 200. Updated 01/26/lj updated 04/18/11.
