The whole electrical system has gone out while driving in limestone county alabama. Keys don't start it none of automatic doors will open.
This vehicle is basically a Chrysler/Dodge with vw branding, and one of the keys is even a Dodge key. It has the same issue with the tipm and fuel relay module that was recalled on the 2011 Chrysler and Dodge vans. See fuel pump relay recall NHTSA 14v-530. I'm asking that it also be recalled for the 2011 vw Routan since it's very dangerous that my car could stop at any moment. I recently purchased my van from a used car dealer in new jersey who neglected to even inform me that this was a known issue even though I informed them that I'd be driving the car cross country. When I was in georgia the car started cranking, but wouldn't start and it has had this same intermittent issue since I arrived in FL. It took a while for us to figure out what was even wrong with it because when the auto shop ran a diagnostic, no codes were returned. However, when they finally got the issue to occur again, they found that tapping on the fuel relay module in the tipm would allow the car to start. They advised to take it to Chrysler because it's actually a Chrysler van under the hood. When I called Chrysler, they turned me away because the VIN is for a vw. When I called vw, they said no recall existed for this van even though it's the same issue. So, I'm asking that a recall also be done on 2011 vw Routan's since they are experiencing the exact same dangerous issue called out in the Chrysler recall. Lastly, I experienced this issue both while the car was stationary and while it was on the highway. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
I just purchased the 2009 Volkswagen Routan. I have had it 3 weeks it randomly died when test driving the van and all the alarms and lights came on. We just thought I didn't have the fob in right. Then it started to randomly not start, even the remote start will not work. The lights, radio, alarm, windows and door locks work like they normally should. Usually if I wait like 20 minutes and keep trying the key (taking it out of the ignition and reinserting it) until it starts. The check engine light came on for 7 days. Thursday 10/10/2019 nothing worked let it sit overnight and still nothing tried to jump it and it finally started. Took to place I purchased jd byrider in janesville, WI and they believe it was the starter because it was not turning and it was replaced on 10/11/2019. Then 2 hours later the car again would not start again. The dealer came to rescue me and we tried the actual key and at first it didn't work, we pushed the gas and it as as the gas pedal got stuck for about 30 seconds but started. Then driving down route 26 from johnson creek, WI to janesville, WI, it was making squeaking noises from the engine. We could hear it through the heating vents. Then the tire pressure warning light came on and it kept dinging. When I got to janesville, I checked the tire pressure on all the tires and it was fine. Because I live in rockford, IL, I drove down i90 and the car at times started shaking like it was going died. Again, today it won't start not even with an actual key. Also, the driver side passenger door lock is not working and had to have a part ordered. The vehicle has 129,000 miles.
While driving (car in motion)the car to pick up my children from school, it sounded like it was draining. The alert light beeped so I looked at dash the lights/info on car started blinking then the car stopped completely in middle of the road. No power would work I couldn't roll down the windows or turn on hazard lights, I had to put car in park. The key was stuck in the ignition and would not start from a jump. The car had no warning signs and was recently inspected and checked on computer and they were unable to get any codes or see any engine problems. Car would not even go into neutral to move off the road. Car was towed to my home and still not able to jump battery and car won't start. All power remains off and can't lock car with key either.
The engine stalls as the vehicle is driven and it locks the steering wheel. This happened about 8 times within the past 24 months. We discovered that 12,000 and more Routan 2009 and 2010 have been recalled for the same problems with some fatalities reported due to this defect: ignition moduls and electronic moduls. Vw and gm-Chrysler are not supporting the vw. Dealer repair/replacement as my vw Routan seems not having been tracked down during initial recalls.
Car shut off numerous times while driving. There was no way to turn steering wheel it just stops nothing you can do to keep it running hopefully no one is tailing me because if not I will definitely crash. Mechanic can't seem to find problem. Maybe tipm or key fob? changed key fob no luck.
When I'm driving all the lights will turn on on the dash board then turn off and my windshield wipers will turn in the process when all the lights turn on while I'm driving the van will say I'm going 0 miles per hour.
Driving down the highway one night and the anti-lock system is activating by itself. Took it to a shop and they told me the steering angle sensor needs to be replaced. Which is the whole clockspring. They told me the sensor is saying I'm at a 42 degree angle when the steering wheel is straight. The angle of the sensor should be 0-15 degrees. Because of this it's telling the anti-lock system that I'm about to flip causing the brakes to apply by themselves. I'm not able to drive over 20mph without it activating the anti-lock system. I couldn't afford to get it repaired so I had to disable the whole anti-lock system until I have the money to replace it.
Tipm - the tipm in the Routan has been noted as malfunctioning on many online forums. My tipm malfunctioned and my vehicle suddenly stop on a highway while driving. This is very dangerous.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Routan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, all the warning indicators illuminated and white smoke started emerging from the engine compartment. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and got the three passengers ( children ) out of the vehicle. The police was not present. The fire department was not present. No injuries were reported. The fire extinguished itself when the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was towed to an unknown independent mechanic, they determined that the battery and the alternator burned and needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired, but the repairs did not work. The vehicle was towed to the dealer neftin westlake Volkswagen, 3550 auto mall drive, thousand oaks, California, 91362, they determined that the tipm and the tcm had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Bp.
My tipm modules of the car is causing a lots of problems and that has affected my fuel pump, battery, and starter. I have to replace a new fuel pump,a new battery and a new starter and still the same problem is still persisting.
2010 volkswagon Routan has stopped in mid traffic going 30-40 mph on a busy road. Lights and audio have flickered, then turn off. Car spontaneously starts and stops any given time in motion and standing still, and cannot be jumped to revive. Have been in the car with my children and have had it stop in the middle of the road. We have had it less than a year, completely unsafe. Told the exact recall doesn't apply to my VIN#.
Replaced fuel pump after issues with engine refusing to turn over. Next day after repair the vehicle refused to start; towed to garage for diagnosis. One mechanic was able to start it and another not. Computer diagnosis can't find the issue. I have explored the internet regarding this issue and find many complaints with the need to replacemthe tipm. This van has an engine built by Chrysler which recalled its 2011 vans to replace this device. Please force vw to do the same! thankfully the van was in park when it refused to start.
Tipm module. My 2011 vw Routan was built by Chrysler with the same parts as any other Chrysler car at that time. Chrysler issued a recall for all vehicles made with this particular part as it is a life threatening issue. Most importantly the car will stop in the middle of driving! imagine going down the freeway doing 70mph with your kids in the car and the car shuts off. Fortunately we were only driving in a parking lot. Because the car is branded as a vw, chrysyler refuses to replace the recalled part which I was quoted at $1300 from the dealership and vw says it is a Chrysler part and issue. This thin gray line is costing people thousands of dollars and possibly even lives.
Esp abs light illuminates while car is in motion and the car will not shift out of gear when stopped as if the break is not detected. Have to shut car off in the middle of traffic or drop of lines and turn back on several times to clear error and get shifter to shift to drive gear. Used snap on reader to check codes and does not recognize car as vw, instead it pulls up Chrysler town and country. Tried to replace a break light module, the part was actually for a Dodge neon. (I am only owner, bought van brand new). Symptom came back after two days. Code reader cannot find anything causing code trigger. Also key doesn't always work in ignition switch, must sometimes try to turn on 3 times. This has occurred since purchase. Amazed at all these safety issues and yet vw does nothing. $34,000 car and I am going to have to replace it already. Only 66,000 miles on the car. Transmission rebuilt by vw at 12,000 miles, rotors changed at 9,000 miles, motor parts rebuilt at 35,000 miles. Car burns 6 quarts of oil every 4,000 miles. Van doors will shut on kids even though they are supposed to stop when something is in the way. Worst car I have ever bought, and vw doesn't care to resolve all these issues customers have.
Car won't start. Low charge, lights not working, horn not working, over heating. First it happaned while parked and then while driving.
Van warning lights come on without notice; when driven instrument panel lights flicker and dim, audio system cuts off and on while driving. Was taken to dealer and had tipm was replaced and issue still persists.
As we are driving the power steering completely cuts off and will not let you drive - the engine shuts off and your forced into turning the vehicle completely off them back on again. This happened while on the interstate in traffic which nearly caused a collision.
Volkswagen Routan 2010 will turn off while in motion, on highway, street, or when stationary. Car is an automatic and will not adjust to the proper gear when driving. When in drive the car will act as if it is in neutral and roll backwards and will not kick into first gear. The electronic system never works properly and is constantly needing new batteries very few months. This car is unstable, unsafe, and unreliable! the Volkswagen Routan 2010 needs to be recalled immediately!.
While operating the vehicle the car stalled an simply stopped in the middle of driving. Completely ridiculous, very dangerous! your website states that vehicles same year, make and model and manfu date thevsame have recalls for exact same issue. This is urgent. This could cause the death of me or my family. It must be fixed by vw, especially when recalls are there for some.
After the car is parked back lift gate opens suddenly, also automatic side doors suddenly opens. Lots of occasions the vehicle won't start. At one time my wife was driving and suddenly it just stops in the middle of the road and could not start. No sign of empty gas or engine lights warnings. After the being taken to the shop diagnose is sensors not working and lots of time sensors were replaced but the hard start keeps on doing it to this date. Sometime it starts sometimes it does not.
I have a Volkswagen Routan 2011 built by Chrysler in a canada factory. This vehicle is shutting off when drive on the freeway. The gears and sreering locks up while driving. The vehicle also has electrical issues the lights turn on and off even when the car is off. After purchasing a new battery and alternator the car in the morning will not start. The battery is dead and drained. With nothing on it intermittently has a dead battery and shuts of after starting the car. When I call the Volkswagen dealer in stockton CA to explain the service guy hung up on my husband and I and stated it's not a recall. We explain that thousands are having the same issue and it's recorded and all over you tube. We are having the same ignition switch issues or possible tipm issues.
Integrated body control/ecu:tipm module malfunction.
I have been struggling with starting my Volkswagen Routan on the initial engagement of the key, the problem started within the last two months. In the same time frame, the vehicle would suddenly turn off in the middle of driving. I have seen that in 2009 and 2010 model there was a recall of the ignition switch that showed similar issues. My car does have 10000 miles, so I am trying to determine if it was an initial faulty item or a part that needs to be replaced. The dealership replaced the tipm module, but it did not correct the issues. I want to see if other 2011 models are experiencing the same issues, and wether the 2011 models should be extended to the recall for the 2009/2010 models.
The van hesitates to start. It has turned off by itself while driving. The blinkers (right and left) sometimes work. The hazard lights sometimes work. The ac comes on and then comes off. We are the original owners and have kept up with maintenance on the van. We took the van into Volkswagen dealer service and were told that the 2011 model was plagued with electrical problems. We were told this time our tipm needs to be replaced. Ll of the problems we are experiencing are related to a problem Chrysler (who made the van) admitted to. Volkswagen will not replace the part. The tipm is known for not getting fuel to the engine which can stop the van. This has happened to us twice.
*sometimes the vehicle will not start for no apparent reason. Vw service dept. Cannot detect an issue. *engine light comes on intermittently while driving-vw cannot detect anything wrong. * alarms go off but no signal showing on the dashboard. *power windows and seats work intermittently- *found vehicle's sliding door wide open I parking lot, twice. * have also found windows open. Our lift gate (trunk) opened while driving on the highway. * vehicle failed to shift, while driving, revved and would not reset until pulling over and turning off the vehicle. Though vw could not find faulty readings and didn't believe tipm is the issue because they couldn't read it. Being familiar with programming, I know that glitches can cause faulty readings. If there is a glitch before the reading can be processed by the computer, there will be no faulty reading logged. A pc won't save a file, either if the power supply is interrupted before it can do so. . Tipm malfunctions can also cause all other issues I have experienced. Upon getting a second opinion from transmission specialists, they said only the solenoid was faulty. They also confirmed that a faulty tipm box will cause solenoid issues and eventually ruin the new one, too. *recently, all locks stopped working & the vehicle can only be opened & locked manually. At the same time all interior lights were on and had to be turned off at the dashboard- this would have drained the battery had it happened on a work day. Vw has had the vehicle for 2 full days and yet doesn't know what's wrong with it. We have had these issues and useless repairs for over 2 years. All issues point to faulty tipm (manufactured by Chrysler, who had to settle in a lawsuit about the tipm box/ faulty relay issue for Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler). We need help with these issues. Too many of us have it 2011 and 2012 models as well. Please help.
Van will not start unless we put it on neutral. Now we are having problems even if we put it on neutral. Possible neutral safety switch gone bad.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Routan. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted into neutral and the vehicle started normally. The stability and traction control indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred approximately six times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Routan. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph, the esp warning indicator illuminated and vehicle engine seized. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000. Tw.
The clockspring in the steering wheel went out. At 28 miles the traction control turns on and the car starts braking even if the car is not skidding. Very dangerous. Our mechanic told us the clockspring is a common problem with both the Volkswagen routon and the Chrysler town and country. I found one report on the internet that said Volkswagen started servicing the clockspring as of 2010 routon models but did nothing for the 2009 routon.
Vehicle looses all power while driving. This has happen 3 times in 5 days. Happens randomly. Tried using another key with nothing on key chain and still happens. I also tried to giggle key while vehicle is parked and running but could not duplicate lose of power. This is very, very dangerous because you have limited steering and braking when engine stalls. Vw web-site says recall is pending. This is dangerous!!!!!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Routan. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number: 14v396000 (electrical system) and stated that the part needed was unavailable to perform the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had experience a failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Bp.
We have had several occasions where the van completely shuts off even while running. Reported it to our local vw dealer and have been told that it might be an ignition problem which is part of a recall. Was informed that at this time they can't repair it because they don't make that part. Had it completely shut down on us while it was getting serviced at the dealer for new brakes. Was told that all it needed was new battery. Paid for it and got it to start only to shut down again two days later. Took it back again and was told that it is not the recall its something else thats causing for the car to shut off. Now the dealer said that they will pay for the part but we pay for labor and we have 7 days to agree. They need to fix this ongoing problem. We are now carrying around $175 jumper to start it when it shuts off. Have had to sign up for tow assistance program just in case my family is stranded.
While driving in jacksonville florida on highway, wipers suddenly came on, all idiot lights began to blink, headlights began flashing off and on, beeping sound like when door is open, the van suddenly died and I was unable to brake, steer or control vehicle. The van was towed to vw dealership the problem was found to be the sliding door harness which was interfering with normal operation of the electrical system. Replaced sliding door harness and failed battery. When I questioned the faulty part possibly being a recall issue I was told it was not. Cost=$624. 48 + rental car. Is important to note here that I had just crossed over a very long large bridge. If I had been going uphill when the van suddenly died I am certain I would have caused an accident inflicting injury or possibly death to either myself or another motorist, as there is no shoulder on the bridge and I was traveling at 55-60mph. I could not control the vehicle. This is clearly an issue with these Mini vans. Thank god I was traveling to work and did not have my children in the van as I waited 2&1/2 hours for a tow.
Intermittent starts an stops turn key won`t start sometimes trouble started in 2012 took it to shop didn`t act up for them said nothing was wrong so I sort of lived with it it always started after a few tries but latley it start turning off while im driving went to dealer told me they never heard of such a thing happening I tcame home an googled it there were 2 recalls for that reason for 2009 an2010 vans I believe they out right lied to me apparently the first quick fix recall got put in my van please help me I`ve had 2 close calls on the highway when it died while merging on to a highway it`s the only van I got an need it for work I live paycheck to paycheck I emailed Volkswagen an got no response there to busy with there deisel recall to bother with me the phone wait was over an hour so I hung up I sure my van is not to only one with issue my wife`s hair girl traded her van off because they wouldn`t fix it this a dangerous issue.
In July 2012 I bought a certified pre-owned 2009 Volkswagen Routan minivan. I have reported the following major safety problems on several occasions to no resolve: loss of power ¿ the car will completely lose power and the steering wheel locks while driving. For ex on 12/22 from 5:32p ¿ 10:48p, the car lost power and steering wheel locked 11 times. Sliding doors automatically open ¿ the doors will not close securely, won¿t open, or will appear closed and spontaneously reopen. There have been several times we will go out for the evening or come out for work in the morning and both doors are opened. At times, while driving, the door (particularly the driver side rear) will appear closed and secure however it will sound as if it has suddenly jumped off track and the door will crack open. We took the certified pre-owned vehicle to be serviced 8xs within the warranty time and we were told each time because the check engine light was not on to trigger a code that outline the problems there was nothing that could be done. We have suffered a great deal of personal and emotional stress as these are critical and highly dangerous highway safety concerns. I¿m worried each time my family gets into the minivan and I continue to fulfill my contractual agreement of $320+ per month without fail however I have yet to receive the same from Volkswagen.
