The vehicle has a start/stop feature that is on by default and is dangerous when waiting to make a turn. It temporarily shuts the car down and restarts upon release of the brake pedal to move the car forward which causes severe hesitation in excelleration. To make matters worse the transmission in this vehicle jerks and hesitates. When it does finally kick in it causes the car to surge forward to fast and makes it difficult to drive and handle in a turn, epecially with oncoming traffic. Have almost been t-boned a few times due to both of these issues. We dont feel safe in this vehicle!! these issues need to be addressed by volkswagon before someone is seriously hurt. We love the styling and look of our Tiguan but feel the transmission and start/stop issues are very unsafe!!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle makes a rattling sound when in motion. No warning lights illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer Volkswagen of abilene 350 s clack st, abilene, TX 79605 (325) 673-4663 who repaired the vehicle and the contact was unaware of the diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to wait for a response on getting a new vehicle. The failure mileage was 750 miles. VIN not available. Hk.
When I'm giving gas/ accelerating, there is a "hissing-sound" coming from outside and more clearer and louder to the passenger side person position. Can hear it even clear if I roll down the windows. Sound starts coming anywhere from 0 - max mph no matter which roads I drive in. Don't know for sure which part of the car is doing the sound but "acceleration" is the causing it and when I let the car roll without giving gas, the sound stops. So you should definitely give gas/ press acceleration pedal to hear this sound. Its been 9 months since I purchased this car and has roughly 11k miles on it. (tiguan se 2018 4motion) sounds from driver's side b column is also noticeably loud when driving.
Car bucks forward when coming to a stop from motion. ( down shifts hard) and shifts into first gear really hard. This happens when stop/start is turned off. Its even worse when more than two people are in car. Vehicle also accelerates too fast in first gear. Turbo kicks in too early.
There is all this hesitation when accelerating almost like a bucking or the engine is not getting enough gas/oxygen mix. Then you can press the gas pedal a quarter of the way down and the engine hesitates then throws the car into high gear and takes off. I have driven a lot of cars the past week even a vw touareg that did not act like this car does with the accelerator. It is like the accelerator is not sending the correct single to the engine or the engine's computer is not interrupting it correctly from the accelerator. The computer in the car can be bad and give a false positive. This vehicle has been to 4 dealerships and field engineers have stated that there is a problem but vw refuses to buy back the vehicle. There have been several requests but they keep getting denied and say there is no fix for the vehicle and I feel it is unsafe to drive. I have almost got into 3 accidents because the accelerator would not react and the car stalled out.
Purchased a 2018 vw Tiguan sel in febuary 2018. Brought to dealer twice (so far) and bringing it backi tomorrow. Has stayed in shop for 5 weeks since purchase. Serious hesitation when accerlating. My wife refuses to drive the vehicle in fear of her life !! (and so am I) these cars must be stopped being sold. . . Will not be long before someone is killed. . . .
There is an initial hesitation from a stopped position that could lead to an accident when pulling out into traffic.
The car does not get more than 316 miles to a full tank. It also feels like the transmission is jerking you forward which causes the car to be really sluggish. This is also dangerous when trying to pull out on a busy street. I took it to the dealership and they drove it came back and told me I should only fill up at certain gas stations. They gave me a list and said I have to use only premium gas I. The car and only fill up at these stations if I want the expected gas mileage.
Cars response to driver accelerator inputs is hesitant and erratic. Car motion is unpredictably when accelerating from stand still. The performance is not predictable and very without apparent external environmental factors. Unpredictable performance endangers car occupants while entering traffic. The behavior has been determined by dealer as normal against other 2018 models but is different against 2019. Vw us has not returned inquiry requests.
