The check engine light (mil) came on while driving. I experienced a lack of power and performance. Had it checked at an auto parts store and they said the trouble code was for camshaft/crankshaft positioning sensor. I replaced both camshaft sensors and the crankshaft sensor and reset the code. 400 miles later the light came back on. Took it to a shop and they said the timing chain had stretched and would need replaced to the tune of $2500. They also mentioned changing a problematic bolt on the oil pump, something they said had been an issue with the 3. 6 liter v6.
The contact owns a 2007 Volkswagen Touareg. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled as the brakes seized. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The test results showed a defective oil pump bolt, which had malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to stall. The dealer stated that the oil pump bolt needed to be replaced. The contact did not have the oil pump bolt replaced. The failure mileage was 69,000.
