1 Fuel Pump problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 06/14/2022

The contact owns a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg. The vehicle had previously been serviced at the dealer under NHTSA campaign number: 17v583000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the fuel pump failed after the recall repair was performed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

2 Fuel Pump problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 11/08/2013

The outside rear of the car smelled like gas. After looking under the car we noticed a puddle of gas collecting after stopping the vehicle. The dealer told us the driver side fuel pump has a crack leaking fuel. This is a serious problem and has to be addressed before somene dies. It is a hazard to my family and the public as a whole. Apparently vw has done a recall for this for later model year Touareg, but not the 2006. They refuse to fix it due to age?! in all the years I've been driving, I've never had a fuel pump that cracks and spews gas all over the road. In order to even find the problem, they had to take out all of the rear seats, cut through the carpet of the vehicle, and open up two vents through the floor of the SUV. This is a serious hazard. So if I hadn't smelled the gas and someone threw a cigarette, my family would be in hazard for their life?! even though there are many other examples of this on the internet vw has refused to acknowledge this is an issue.

3 Fuel Pump problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 11/11/2011

Driving from columbia, SC to charleston, SC and refueled in summerville. 20 miles later on the highway @40mph, engine started high pitched humming noise then lost power (went into limp mode) when accelerator pushed. Got immediate notification "engine failure, service now" and fortunately able to pull safely into parking lot. Vw reports lots of debris in fuel and clogged filter, blaming contaminated fuel. Have to replace entire fuel system, wondering if this is problem is actually the high pressure fuel pump since vehicle is 2009 clean diesel tdi.

4 Fuel Pump problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 02/06/2011

Constant repair of 2004 vw Touareg: this vehicle has been certified in all states of the union as being a certified lemon. When I purchased the vehicle I had no idea of this. I have had to replace a fan sensor which is a certified vw defect, but I had to pay for the cost, repair and labor in the amount of $550 and further, the vehicle left me stranded because the faulty sensor allowed a fan to keep blowing thereby draining my battery completely. Rear windshield wiper disintegrated during heavy rain and cost 65 to repair although the piece looks like something a child put together. Front windshield wiper flew off of car while raining, causing me to pull over and be stranded once again. I got stranded again because the vw engine coils burnt out without notice leaving me stranded in blizzard conditions in chicago. I had to get a new battery but was charged $250 for the battery and installation because vw chose to put the battery under the front driver’s seat. Not three weeks have passed and I haven’t even driven the vehicle but both fuel pumps and the flange module have gone out. I had to pay $1500 for labor, parts, shop and repairs. Vehicle has 91,000 and brakes and rotors have gone out again for the 3rd time. Right door opens when driving although the vehicle is locked, which is another certified defect. Vehicle lunges forward from a stopped position and then hesitates when trying to speed up on the highway.
