Gas leak (see pics). I started noticing a strong gasoline smell and my car keeps running out of gas almost immediately after filling up. This has not been inspected nor confirmed by a dealer. This is my only source of transportation and needs to be fixed ASAP. There is not a vw dealership where I live, the closest being in mario, IL, or st. Louis, mo.

The driver seat belt does not latch properly and comes off while driving. Multiple attempts are required for the seat belt to latch and be secure. This problem started around July 2020.
The driver's seatbelt appears to be buckled, but releases under load. When inserting the end into the buckle it clicks and looks and feels buckled, but when loaded releases without warning. This occurred with different drivers and released unexpectedly multiple times while the car was being driven. Replacing the buckle end resolved the defect.

My issue started out with the passenger airbag off warning indicator light being on even when an average side adult was sitting in the passenger seat. It escalated to an airbag fault warning light on in the control panel. This light does not go off. Another issue started when I would enter the car and the door signal was suddenly loud and odd sounding. This went on for a week or so then all of the sounds in the car ceased completely. No blinker sound, no lights on indicator, no interior lights, no door open indicator, and no parking brake indicator. Lastly, while picking my daughter up from college, I folded the backseat down in order to fit her baggage. The center seat belt became stuck in the default position. I am unable to get the seat all the way down because the seat belt is locked and it is now snug against the backseat.

After 20z4 fuel pump flange recall was done I noticed a rattle and strong gasoline smell. Tilted up rear seat and discovered seat bolts not tightened and missing. Rear seats have to be removed to access top of fuel tank to replace cracked flange and apply foil to flange if not cracked. Seat bolts and safety belt bolts are supposed to be replaced with new bolts with loctite; not reused. The 20z4 recall should require new seat bolts to be installed when the seats are re-installed.
The car just suddenly stopped while driving on the hwy 91 in los angeles in rush hour traffic. Vehicle suddenly lost power and within 10 seconds complete stop and stall on the highway. Towed to vw dealers and I was informed that is failure of the high pressure fuel pump. . Read more...
Tried to buckle up one of the rear seat belts and buckle plastic housing broke. The dealer failed to acknowledge that a seat belt mechanism should never fail. Instead, the dealer said I had to pay out of pocket to have it replaced. I contacted Volkswagen of America to report this concern and asked them to cover for this repair. They declined to cover this repair free of charge.
Seat belt retractors, first rear passenger belt stop retracting, then rear center belt became unusable because it only retracts synching tighter as fold down seat operated. Now, driver side seat belt is loosing its ability to retract into column. No accidents or injuries have occurred but the seating positions are unusable. Vw wants close to $1,000 to replace the passenger and center seat belts and retractors.

Seatbelt locked up while driving and does not unlock! many of the owners of the same model have reported this seat belt (middle passenger seat) locking up and not being able to unlock. This could be a major hazard in case of an accident and fire the passenger would not be able to release themselves except by cutting the seatbelt! even when driving normal and not being able to unlock yourself could be dangerous. The only way to get out is to cut the seat belt and the seat belt is not easy to cut if you do not have the proper cutting tool. We the owners of this vehicle would like NHTSA to address this issue with the manufacturers. I approached the vw customer care I was told by the vw customer care that they would not be able to help me at all. My vehicle is barely out of the certified pre-owned warranty by miles but it is still under warranty if you go by the number of years (less than 2 years) but vw is not concerned of this major manufacturing defect.

I manually lowered the rear seat back to allow increased cargo area. After removing the cargo, I could not raise the rear seat back to it's upright position. The center seat belt had locked it self in a way holding the seat back down not allowing the seat back to be raised to an upright position. A recall was issued 3-28-2005 regarding this dangerous seat belt malfunction problem effecting 50483 vehicles but fell short in failing to include the center rear seat belt in the recall. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer are legally obliged to fix this situation at their cost. At this time my only option is to pay the dealer to un-bolt all three rear seat belts from the frame, remove and disassemble the entire rear seat, remove the center seat belt from inside the seat back, install a new and working seat belt assembly and finally, put the car back together all to the tune of their hourly rate plus parts. In the mean time, my 5 passenger car is a 2 passenger car. Hope to have a response soon. Thank you for your attention in this frustrating situation.
The contact owns a 2005 Volkswagen Touareg. The contact stated that the middle row seat was reclined for utilization of the trunk. The contact attempted to put the seat back into an upright position, but the seat would not budge. The contact discovered that the seat belt latch was locked and would not allow the seat to be returned upright. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer advised that the seat belt assembly would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 04v592000 (seat belts). The failure mileage was 93,700 and the current mileage was 94,000.
Rear middle seat belt was jammed after folding down the rear seat.
When laying the rear seat down in my 2005 vw Touareg, the seat belt becomes locked in place, preventing the middle seat from coming back up. Have taken to the dealer numerous times for fix and even replaced the seat belt 15 months ago and the incident has happened twice since then, the only two times we lowered the rear seat. The dealer unbolted the seat belt, so I could drive it until we got a resolution on the costs associated with the belt. I called vw to log a complaint and they indicated that the responsibility for fixing is mine. This is a huge safety issue and feel that they should be more pro-active on fixing rather than passing the cost on to the consumer. Also, looked on a toureg forum site and there are several people with the same issue.
I have 2005 vw Touareg. The rear middle seat belt locked up and jammed when I flipped the rear seat down to load things into the trunk. The only way to repair this defect is by cutting the entire seatbelt in order to put the seat back up. This is the first time I've had to repair the middle seat belt, however it isn't the first time I've had a problem with the rear seat.
Rear center seat belt retractor assembly pre-locks when the rear seat is placed in the extended cargo position. This defect prohibits the use of right outboard seating position as well as the center seating position since the seat back cannot be returned to the use position. I have informed the dealership many times over the last several years in attempts to resolve this shortcoming. Dealership has been unable to correct the root cause of the problem. The vehicle is now out of warranty and vw now wants me to pay for the the repair (labor) with no garantee that this action will resolve the defect. As a result, I have disconnected the rear center seat belt assembly at the anchor near the floor to allow proper operation of the seat back and the right outboard seating position. This is a safety related issue that should be addressed since a safety device was defective when the vehicle was delivered.
