Takata I was driving perfectly fine and I came upon a turning to make the left and out of no where my car start sliding out of control I tried to control it because there was a ditch close by where I was it was sliding to the right tried to spin the steering to the left but the car was just doing what it felt like I ended up hitting in the rail where the ditch was and pushing the car back into the middle of the road bear in mind I had my children in my car no one can give me an explanation to my my car just spiral out of control and I know I was not driving fast I am not a fast driver one thing is to be done and check out with this vehicle before it claim the life of anyone that god my love and my kids was spared the brakes speed control and body of the car was affected as well but it is not allowing me to select all of the options above.

My car since I bought it and it has a visible shaking in the steering wheel, there were multiple attempts to fix the problem and it just keeps coming back. Eventually vw customer service is saying that it is a normal characteristic of the car. I researched this online and I am not the only affected person, there are even videos published to show the problem , and vw is trying to avoid admitting it is a defect. They even wanted me to try another car on the lot which had a sim lab problem and the shop foreman at ide vw said he hasn't seen this problem before and he is surprised and the car should not have that problem.

Strong vibration in steering wheel (&noise) while driving when making turns. This is sporadic and happens whether turning steering wheel left or right. Traveling at slow speeds when leavin my driveway, on paved roads, city streets. . . I don't know the exact date this started but it started in the last 30 days.

The steering wheel locking device does not block the steering wheel any more after parking the vehicle and removing the key ignition lock. Instead when turning the steering wheel there is a pronounced rattling noise coming from inside the steering wheel. The wheel locking mechanism does not work.

The emergency brake alarm was going off more frequently and to silence it I would pull the sping on the brake up. The brake alarm randomly was anoying but not a major concern. I hadn't had any mechanical issues with my car until 01/23/16 I attempted to start my car and recieved an error message the read steering defect and it wouldn't allow you to start the car beyond the error message. I had my car towed to volkswagon mentor ohio after holding my car for more than a week I was finally offered a diagnosis that the access modular was not functioning meaning the brain of the vehicle wasn't functioning and the vw dealership service department didn't have answer to how this happened they had a $2500 solution to the problem and they were more than happy to assist in replacement of the access modular with there hearty cost. The brain the volkswagon access modular stops functioning and Volkswagen at no fault of mine and I'm charged $2500 plus. Mechanical maintenance I understand but replacement of the vehicles access modular is a repair that I feel volkswgon should cover.
I recently purchased a 2004 vw tuareg in July 1st of 2014. Immediately upon purchasing the vehicle I began receiving a parking brake alarm when I turned on the vehicle. The alarm would persist until I pushed down on the parking break. I would also receive an occasional alarm for the tire pressure monitoring system. Then, on December 15, 2014 the vehicle refused to turn on at all. The dashboard display had a flashing steering wheel. I had the vehicle towed to a Volkswagen dealership where the technicians looked it over and told me that the cause of the problem is that two cables touched and shorted out the system. After 3 weeks of holding the vehicle, the cost of repair was quoted at around $3,500 to replace some modules. I was also informed that this might be a recall issue as many other 2004 vw tuaregs have had similar problems.
Continuous (orig. Report date 10/3/13) with two unsuccessful service attempts to date (10/12/13) of a reported steering wheel shimmy/shake [at highway speed between 60-65 mph]. This issue remains unchanged from the original report; as issue continues unaffected by road surfaces to incl. Other variables such pre-dawn, daytime and evening road conditions; weather and temperatures. Vehicle still demonstrates a difficulty in tracking straight across multiple lanes (removing any of road 'crown' influence). Had been able to duplicate after the first round of road force balance of all 4 tires (goodyear eagle l2 tires) and a 4 wheel alignment; again at speed between 60-65 mph. Issue has been recorded on video post this first attempted and failed repair.
Upon reaching speeds between 65 and approximately 75 miles per hour the steering wheel would noticeably shake back and forth very obviously, so much so that it worried me there was a major issue with the vehicle.
The steering lock and was unable to open or move.
The contact owns a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg. The contact stated that he took the vehicle to the dealer for regular service when he was advised that the brakes needed replacing. The contact was also advised that the bolts to the calipers were fractured along with the steering links, which would also need replacing. The dealer repaired the brake disk, calipers, brake lining, bolts and the steering knuckles. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised him that the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 114,940. The current mileage was approximately 115,000. Updated 11/12/12 the consumer stated the holding calipers not fractured, threads were badly rusted into steering knuckle requiring replacement of driver side steering knuckle. The failures are not duplicated on the right front brake assembly. The consumer has the defective parts. The vehicle has never been operated in off road condition or exposed to salt water. Vehicle pulls to the right at all speeds and which necessitates constant input from the driver to hold the car straight.

Alignment on 2004 vw Touareg is horrible. Taken back at least 3 times and it has never been fixed. Tires are now shot because of the alignment problems. Computer keeps beeping that there is a flat tire when the air pressure is fine when checked. Taken in at least 3 times and it still has not been fixed. Speakers rattle as if they are blown. . . . Also. . . . Never been fixed.
Since I purchased a 2004 vw Touareg on 2/28/04 I have had various problems with it. The most severe is the front end allignment and brakes. I have had a total of 6 front end allignments since I purchased the vehicule. It is in the shop right now and they can not correct it. This is a an extreme hazard at higher speeds since the SUV pulls hard to the right. I was told by the mechanic that worked on my vehicule that he set the allignment to factor specs and it still pulls to the right. I took it to tire kingdom twice and they did the same and did a high speed balance on the tires as well and it still pulls to the right. Also volkwagon of America put out circular vwa-04-12 stating that there is a factory problem with front end allignments on certin VIN numbers on the Touareg. Vw will not acknowledge that there is a problem. I also have trouble with the breaks making loud noise and wearing out fast. Now they are telling me that the rotors are bad. I have complained about the brakes and nothing was done. Also there is condensation on the windshield from the air conditioning and they did have a recall on this, but the trouble still exsists.
I have recently purchased a 2004 Volkswagen tuareg without driving the vehicle off the parking lot I took it straight to the service manager because the vehicle felt like it was pulling hard to the right. I was informed that it was necessary to put 800 plus miles on the vehicle before they would align the front end. After putting the required miles on the vehicle it was taken back to the dealership with the expectation of an alignment. I picked the car up that afternoon and I was told by the service manager that this car was properly aligned and that it was verified by two individuals who drove to car. This vehicle has a propensity to rapidly pull off the road with almost any kind of crown. The steeper the crown the more radical it wants to pull. This is either a bogus service manager or the Volkswagen Touareg has serious problems that prevent it from tracking down the road in a straight line. I have had bmws, porsches, GMC yukons and pickup trucks that stay on the road 100 percent better than this vehicle. I would greatly appreciate some feedback from other owners who may be experiencing the same problem. It will only be a matter of time before this vehicle veers off a road and takes out a telephone pole. This is either an alignment problem or a designed flaw. Sincerely, henry moseley.
