2 Wheel problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 04/13/2018

My car since I bought it and it has a visible shaking in the steering wheel, there were multiple attempts to fix the problem and it just keeps coming back. Eventually vw customer service is saying that it is a normal characteristic of the car. I researched this online and I am not the only affected person, there are even videos published to show the problem , and vw is trying to avoid admitting it is a defect. They even wanted me to try another car on the lot which had a sim lab problem and the shop foreman at ide vw said he hasn't seen this problem before and he is surprised and the car should not have that problem.

3 Wheel problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 11/14/2016

Tpms light intermittently started blinking. I took it to the dealer and they "diagnosed" it as the back left sensor. I was initially told that the recommendation was to not change it until I replaced tires and then I was told it was not covered under my warranty. I called the warranty company and they said that it was 100% covered.

4 Wheel problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 02/16/2016

Vibration in drive train. Local dealer put in a new drive train, this did not work, then they put in a new torque converter, this did not work. All under warranty (23,000 miles on a 20124 vw Touareg) now I am going directly to vwof America to file a case. Vw says this is normal in all new Touaregs. This is not true. It did not vibrate when we first bought it and if you test drive a new one on the lot, it does not vibrate. The vibrations happen when the car is coasting from 40 mph to 15 mph, when the transmission is downshifting.

5 Wheel problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

The steering wheel has a shake, shimmy, or vibration between 70-80mph. 72mph being the most obvious. It also tends to pull mostly to the right. It currently is in for its 2nd attempt at repair. The first was a remount and rebalance of all 4 wheels as well as "cleaning" the hubs. This was to comply with their own internal TSB. I was told that it was fixed and it is not. I'm waiting to pick it up.

6 Wheel problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 07/29/2013

Vehicle exhibits a steering wheel shake that consistently occurs above 60mph on all road surfaces. At onset, can feel oscillation in hands and arms. With hands lightly on wheel or removed, can visually confirm steering wheel oscillation (cyclical rotation from l to r and back) with about 3/8" total travel at steering wheel perimeter. Cabin also exhibits slight vibration which can be felt in seat. Car does not track well in lane and consistently pulls to the right. Vw is aware of problem and addresses it in TSB 44-13-01 from June 2013. Repeated application of the remedies in the TSB have failed to remedy the problem. Substitution of all four wheels and tires from another Touareg that does not exhibit this problem fails to remedy the problem, suggesting that the problem is not the wheels/tires. Issue persists with no remedy to date.

7 Wheel problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 07/22/2013

When the vehicle is driven at speeds between 60 mph - 75 mph the steering wheel shakes back and forth. The steering wheel shake is noticeable to the point that if you take your hands off the steering wheel you literally can see the steering wheel vibrate back and forth. The air pressure in the tires has been checked, the tires have been rotated and the Volkswagen dealer has road force balanced the tires 2x in an attempt to resolve the issue over the duration of a year. The attempts by Volkswagen has not resolved the issue and they have no answer to why the vehicle is not performing correctly.

8 Wheel problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 05/13/2008

The contact owns a 2008 Volkswagen Touareg. The contact stated that at highway speeds, all four wheels would vibrate excessively, swaying back and forth. After numerous trips to the dealer to no avail, the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility. The mechanic advised that the tires were off road tires that should never have been installed on the vehicle. The tires were sent to a testing center and were deemed safe with no defects found. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The contact was displeased because the original equipment tires installed were off road tires and he believed the manufacturer was liable for replacing them for not initially installing the correct tires. The failure mileage was 16,000 and the current mileage was approximately 17,800.

9 Wheel problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Driver applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor and the steering wheel failed to turn. Driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a fire hydrant. Left side (driver's side) wheel sheared off. Driver was not injured. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic stated that a cause could not be determined at this time.

10 Wheel problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 12/29/2003

From the date of purchase( in December of 2003), tpms has been "on" in yellow/orange color indicating that the tire pressure in all/various locations need adjustment. After inspection by myself, gas station attendants, tire shop companies, and vw dealerships, I finally gave up. In the beginning, the dealership ( where I purchased the car) would not officially admit to the problem, but after a couple of years, in a very informal way, they claimed the this technology was brand new and that it has its flaws! that I should not take those warnings too seriously. Unaware of any recalls, I gave up on this topic. Now, I just want to be on the record!.
