There is a know defect with the chassis used for several Volvo car models. My car is a Volvo C70, year 2012. My car is affected by this defect. The defect wasn't disclosed to me at time of sale. I only learned about it literally 10 years later when Volvo of gilbert (dealership) advised me to install a costly part on the rear suspension of my car because of "excessive negative camber". According to the Volvo repair department, they've known for years of an internal repair "recommendation" memo issued by Volvo that Volvo actually pays for on other models, but won't pay for on mine, to correct this "negative camber" on the rear of the car. ***** the negative camber causes tire walls to fail early and abnormally wear the internal edges of the tires. I've experienced early tire failure on multiple sets of tires on my Volvo C70 and never knew why. Now I know. **Volvo has always known. ** I have to replace all of my tires almost every two years due to the inside edges wearing out, despite faithfully rotating my tires several times a year. My tires have worn down to the belt on the inside edges despite having plenty of good tread left in the middle of the tire itself. About two years ago I had a dangerous blowout on the freeway because of a tire that failed early -- now I know it's because of the negative camber. More recently, two of my tires wore down all the way to the belts despite being less than two years old. ***** Volvo knows about this issue. There is a good papertrail of the issue being documented both by Volvo and their customers, but they failed to warn us of the dangerous car suspension and failed to provide the fix to all of us (while providing the fix to some of their customers). ***** please listen to this 2-minute recording with the Volvo technician (judd) who disclosed the known defect to https://youtu. Be/ids4nd-hzfo ***** this needs to be rectified for all of us with the faulty chassis'. Thank you.

I noticed that driving with the top down (the car is a convertible) leads to premature and uneven tire wear. Subsequently the tires generate a lot of road noise and vibration, which is felt through the steering wheel. At 62000 miles I brought the situation to the attention of Volvo service and as a result they made some repairs / changes / updates to the rear suspension, (at my cost of over $2000). At that time I also purchased four new tires. At this point the car has around 72000 miles and the issue has come back (noise / vibration). It appears that the car has a design issue, which prohibits driving it with the top open, even though that is the main purpose of the car as a convertible.

Purchased new uniroyal tires for my car all have needed to be replaced in very short time tires suffer from rapid deflation for now reason. Tire dealer has blamed wheels air pressure ect . Three of the 4 wheels have be changed all have been inspected by a wheel repair service. There have never been a nail or road hazard involved. These tires simply do not preform correctly they loose pressure at any speed at any time. 12.

This 2012 Volvo C70 was driven from cohasset, MA to chicago IL in late September 2014. It was driven with the top down for a period of 400 miles. The car did have brand new michelin pilot sport tires on the front and rear tires, the rear tires had over 7/10ths wear on them. Upon reaching chicago an odd noise was noticed in the car like a failing rear hub. Upon taking the car to the dealer the fields Volvo service adviser noticed there was feathering of the rear tires which was due to the excessive negative camber with the top down (incorrect oem suspension setting from Volvo). The service advisor told us to replace the brand new tires at a cost of $500 but didnt not address the issue. However a new sub-cross member for the rear suspension was offered in 2013 to avoid this issue, I also have service bulletins showing Volvos knowledge of the issue. I told the service adviser this is not a fix and I wanted to know how this issue will be resolved and prevented from happening again as the car is unsafe to drive on wet or snowy surfaces because of the suspension and tire ware issues. He told me there was nothing he could do. And we can spend $500 on tires every 500 miles we drive with the top down. I then presented the issue to Volvo of north America sending them a kind email asking them how we should handle the issue. Being a car enthusiast I am aware this car shares a suspension with the Mazda 3 and Ford focus. I informed Volvo I can buy an aftermarket adjustable upper control arm and fix the issue but what about the factory warranty, as it would be voided for suspension issues and also why do we have to fix a car under warranty with serious safety issues? I sent this email to Volvo over 3 weeks ago with no response to my questions. . . . . Please help!.
The rear camber arms of the Volvo c 70 are failing at an alarming rate. Not only are tires wearing unevenly at owners expense, the failure of the arms causes the car to become totally uncontrollable. Volvo in a recent publication acknowledged the problem with their original equipment but yet fails to issue a recall and replace order.

I was driving my 2004 Volvo C70 when I drifted off into a high curb. This caused my passenger airbag to deploy. The loud and disrupting noise then caused me to loose all control of the car. As I then ran through a fence and trees before I came to a stop. I was the only one in the car. So why did the empty passenger seat bag deploy. And why did the drivers airbag not deploy.

Dashboard indicator that tire pressure monitor system (tpms) requires maintenance illuminates. Dealer check of control module and individual tire sensors does not identify a specific problem but light appears after the car has been driven for short amount of time. Dealer has replaced rxx control module after consulting with Volvo but problem continues to occur. This problem appears similar to NHTSA campaign id #10v335000 (corresponds to Volvo safety recall no. R228) for model year 2007-2010 Volvo s80s. Problem has occured on intermittent basis for almost a year prior to date above where tpms maintenance required light illuminates regularly.

I have a 2006 Volvo C70 and the tiers started to loose air. When I had the vehicle inspected I found out that three of the four 18' rims had cracks on the inside of the rim edge. . . With a little research I have found that this is a common problem with the 2006 Volvo C70. It is an outrage that Volvo does not yet have to fix this safety issue. Who knows how many accidents have or will happen due to a tire going flat on this model and rim size. I know that sometimes rims can get damaged however," all are cracking in the same area". I will have to replace all three rims to make the vehicle safe to drive. Thank you in advance. R. Swaney.

6/06 vehicle purchased with 18 inch alloy wheels, tire size 235/40/18 8/27/07 (mileage 22,636) vehicle brought to dealer after rear tire began losing air, found to have a crack in the inner rim. This was repaired and refinished 9/18/07 (mileage 23,617) vehicle brought to dealer with steering wheel shimmy at high speeds affecting the drivability of the car. Found to have 3 wheels out of round (all except for the wheel repaired 1 month earlier). Wheels replaced with 4 new factory wheels 11/16/07 (mileage 26,594) vehicle brought to dealer with excessive wheel/axle noise and found to have all 4 wheels out-of-round. Factory wheels too soft to withstand normal driving. Although the low profile design of the tires likely contributed to the durability of the wheels, it may not be appropriate to put wheels of this design on this vehicle. All 8 wheels are available for inspection.
Consumer states that heard a chattering noise, pulled over and notice the drivers side front wheel bolt came off at normal speed. Took to dealer and they stated that the wheel hub was rusted. Please provide any further information. Mr.
