2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 08/17/2022

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 02/08/2022

Check engine light came on and has stayed on. Stalled out in traffic, turned the car off and it restarted and I continued. Happens two more times. Initial start up has a delay in the engine turning over. Gas pedal is slow to respond to acceleration. Verified at a garage with code reader. Suspect faulty wiring (corrosion) to fuel pump needing pem replacement. No warning prior to first incident around 02/2022. I have had the check engine light reset on multiple occasions and each time the light comes back on within 2 days. Safety has been a concern at multiple times. Entered VIN number with Volvo, a Volvo dealer, and NHTSA. Gov with no help in resolving issue.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 12/07/2020

In some occasions car won't start and while driving the car it would shut off unexpectedly causing a dangerous situation. I believe it's the pump electronic module which is already recalled in some cars. According to your recall I have the exact same symptoms but my VIN number is not part of the recall.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2001 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

I bought a 2001 Volvo S40 from tom blevins owner of popples garage. The odometer quit working as soon as I bought it. The key would get stuck in the ignition and would have to be left in the ignition. The drivers side window got stuck in the down position because of a faulty controller. The hood hydraulic arm that holds the hood up when it's raised does not work and has to be propped up with a wood block. Headlights and turn signals do not work. There are more problems to discuss but I am out of space.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 02/15/2017

Takata recall. I had engine stuttering at high speed. My fuel pressure sensor failed and was replaced. I question why it is not covered under the NHTSA campaign I. D. # 07v226000 which is for the same part in the same engine but in 2004 s60 models.

12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2001 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

I've contacted Volvo and demanded my money back and they refused, this is my next step before taking them to court for a measily 2,500. This car has caused me a headache unlike any other, the electrical system fails in this car and passes through it malfunctioning one thing after the next, my back window went up and down on its own, heating and cooling systems do whacky things which ruined the car making it overheat even after shops replace sensors and radiators, the main safety concern which Volvo is suppressing is that the electrical ghost also affects the braking system and accelerates, this is a main concern when you're on an expressway especially, it accelerates and you cannot hold the brake down hard enough to slow down, and it'll do it at random, and I know this is a problem with this year Volvo because I have a 1990 when it was Volvo and not bought my an american company and that car is perfect, and a cop talked to me for about an hour just before these bigger issues started happening, he'd owned a dealership and said this year Volvo has nothing but problems, and at that time I knew he was onto something because the air and heat buttons were doing all kinds of strange things, I was even in an accident once, a little fender bender thankfully just on a side street, my car wouldn't slow down and it skidded all t he way to the light and I dented someone's bumper, they let me slide because their car was a jalopy, but I've had this same electrical failure happening on expressways at various speeds.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 06/05/2016

Car is stalling out while driving down the road engine light came on when put on machine error given is fuel pressure. The fuel pressure was checked and was at correct pressure for the car. I have replaced fuel censer and car ran fine for 2 days then same issue with same error the fuel controller has a corroded pen I tried to call Volvo they are telling me there is nothing they can do when I can clearly see the year make and model have had a recall for the exact issue that I am having with this car. The recall number in your system is 08v033000 I normally would just get the car fixed but this is a major issue it seems the location of the controller needs to be moved to prevent this from happening again. This is a car my 16 year old daughter drives so you can understand my concern with vovlo not wanting to correct this.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2000 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

This happened yesterday 1/28/16 and in April 2015 (the dealership "fixed it" but it didn't work!!!!) yesterday, while driving home from work, the car did the scariest thing I've ever experienced while driving. All the lights on the dash, all the warning lights flashed several times and the car came to a complete standstill. No power at all. It didn't slow to a stall, no weird sounds. . . It just literally stopped in it's tracks. Right there, in the road. All of a sudden my car shut off. When I say shut off I mean the headlights, dome lights, engine. . . . Anything that was electrical completely shut off. This would include the steering wheel locking up. Imagine driving on the freeway/highway in the middle of the night with traffic around you and your lights going out, steering wheel locking and having no way to control the vehicle. This could have killed me and my baby. Last night, I has nightmares all night long of that happening on the freeway or the trestle with my baby. Where I drive frequently. Had that have happened there, I could have been killed especially if a semi truck was behind me, as is often the case. They can't stop that fast. Most people can't stop that fast going 55-75 mph. I had been on the trestle about 15 minutes before it happened. And I am petrified to think what could have happened since I often have my baby in the car. The car is at the dealership in service. They cannot find anything wrong with it. The check engine light didn't come on, so there are no codes. They cannot get it do it again.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 12/27/2015

The contact owns a 2006 Volvo S40. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the engine stalled while the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not aware of the failure and the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v033000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2001 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 06/09/2015

The vehicle is unable to pass inspection. The following parts were change air cleaner assembly, air cleaner sensor, fuel system filter, fuel system vent hose, fuel system ground strap, fuel system cover, fuel system gasket and fuel system pump sender assembly. My son had 3 tickets for no inspection. I research the vehicle and it stated that people pay Volvo $150. 00 to pass the inspection. The mechanic reported that he did work on another Volvo S40 2000 and when a complaint was placed the Volvo fix the problem. I bought another vehicle because I cannot effort to keep getting tickets and paying to replace everything on my vehicle.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 12/06/2012

Car stalls with out warning when travel at speeds of 0-65 mph very dangerous!! there are recalls fuel pressure sensors for nearly all Volvo makes except the S40 2005 this part is truly a defective item and needs to be recalled before a death occurs on the highway!! I thought Volvo was a safe reliable car but I can honestly say this car is the biggest piece of junk I have ever spent a lot if money on. The tires blew out on the sides which also put me in danger the interior headliner fell off as well as all other material on the doors all leather is loose gear shifter cover fell apart. Gas cap broke gas builds too much pressure loosening the gas cap frequently these are just some of the issues I have. Very disappointed in this vehicle I keep my car in the garage. Only drive to and from grocery shopping and dr appts please consider recalls on the important parts of the vehicle that can save lives!.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Volvo S40

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Volvo S40

Failure Date: 12/09/2005

I got new car in Nov 2003 of the year 2004 model. It feels like one has to put foot on brakes all the way to apply. It is progressively getting worse. In Dec 2005, while existing from highway we meet an accident as it did not stop where it was suppose to stop. Volvo dealer top the break fluid during maintenance. But did not solve the problem. We got new brake pads from Volvo dealer and changed along with brake discs in 2009. But, it did not solve the problem. In the morning, it will not break unless one has to put foot on pedal few times. Again in 2015 we got brake pads from other auto part shop of high quality but it does not solve the problem. In addition, I smell gas but could not locate any leak of fuel. Also, steering wheel is very hard and we took to Volvo few times but it is the same.
