1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

The “tire pressure system” warning appeared and has not turned off. New tpms sensors were installed but the dealership could not get the car to calibrate despite multiple attempts. It has come to my attention that other models of Volvo have this same trouble, and a software update is required.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2021

Car has had regular oil changes and was well below the recommended time for the next change when the engine began knocking in September. I took the car for inspection at a Volvo mechanic repair shop and was told all of the oil was gone and engine is damaged beyond repair. No engine or oil indicator light came on to warn me that the oil was low. I understand the 2011-2012 models were recalled for this issue and apparently the problem continued to the 2013 model. The car has low mileage and I am shocked that it is now effectively totaled. I am now without a vehicle and feel that Volvo should have to correct the situation and that a recall should be issued.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2020

Vehicle was stationary when I did notice the driver's side does not lock properly (car does not beep when locking as usual). In order for the door to lock properly, the driver's door needs to be closed much harder than usual, technically slammed shut. In order to open the driver's side of the door, I need to either use the manual key or enter through the passenger door, propping open the door that way. This is causing a safety/security concern, as I need the vehicle to be locked at all times.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2019

The trunk would not open with the key fob. Another time, the car driver door would not lock. When the driver door was opened, the car alarm would go off. The dealer replaced the locking mechanism.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2018

The heater/air conditioner blower fan does not work. This is not a blown fuse, yet a possible blown resistor and/or failed blower motor. This vehicle is 5 years old and has 72k miles; I cannot get heat or air conditioning due to this issue; windows are fogged often, which represents a hazardous/safety issue. Replacement of the heater blower motor and/or resistor requires the removal of the dashboard and instrument cluster. This should not happen on any 5 year old vehicle, much less a Volvo. The repair is either very costly, at least $700 to $1100 or time consuming if I do it myself. That is several car payments worth for a part that should not have failed. I have owned two older Volvos (1972, 1986) and this part never failed--and if it did, the access was much easier (behind the glovebox).

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2017

While driving the car electronics, such as the dashboard lights, and radio started to flicker off and on repeatedly and the engine cut off. I was unable to control the steering and the car came to a complete stop. I waited a few min and was able to start back the car and drive it. This incident has happened 2 times in a 6 month period. The car was recently serviced at around 38,000 miles at the Volvo dealership. The issue started to occur about a month after the car was serviced.
