My Volvo S60 is idling very rough. It is not showing any codes but I suspect it's the etm. After doing some research on vexed's website I have concerns about the safety of this car due to the improper design of the etm made by magneti marelli. I'm hoping stephen mchenry will get Volvo to redesign this ill designed part.

Experience extreme gas smells which permeated into the house via garage walls. After having it inspected by a mechanic, it was determined that there was a crack in the delivery mechanism of the tank. Replaced parts and problem has been corrected.

The car stalled repeatedly while the engine was idling. All power was lost making the car very difficult to steer and brake. I nearly got into several accidents
the engine stalled while:
1) stopped at a red light
2) while shifting gears on the highway
3) while shifting gears in heavy traffic
I took the car to the dealership 4 times before the problem correctly fixed. The following items were replaced but did not fix the problem:
1) fuel pump
2) map sensor (replaced 2 times)
neither of these fixes worked. The problem was corrected after modifying the software on the computer board.

I was having trouble with the car stalling and upon taking my 2002 Volvo s 60 to the dealer (bozzanni Volvo in covina, CA. They handled that problem by cleaning the throttle body assembly for a cost of about $500. 00. About two months later the same problem occurred and this time they replaced the entire throttle body assembly for a cost of about $800. 00. When I questioned the dealer about the problem, he told me that it was no longer under warranty and that the repair charge and repair itself was necessary and that there was nothing else they could do. The car had about 55,000 miles on the odometer and I felt that they did not do the job properly in the first place and that the repair work should have been completed under warranty. I have been keeping up with the current investigations on Volvo and their throttle body assembly failures. While my car is an early 2002 mild pressure turbo, I feel that current investigation should encompass other years because the problems is quite similar. This occurred early on in 2005 and I have the old parts and the dealer paperwork on the repair.
