Volvo S60 owners have reported 24 problems related to wheel (under the wheel category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Volvo S60 based on all problems reported for the S60.
The indirect measurement tpms system of this car has misdetected low tire pressure on three occasions. Most recently, on October 3 while driving on the freeway at about 70 mph the tpms alert illuminated. I checked the information screen and the display showed low pressure in all four tires. Because I have had misdetection of the right front tire twice before, and that it seemed very unlikely that all four tires would deflate at the same time, I disregarded the alert as a false detection. Later I checked the air pressure in all four tires and found it to be exactly correct. In an earlier episode, as I mentioned the tpms alerted that the right front tire was low. In this instance, I did not have a history of false detections, so I believed the information to be accurate and immediately exited the freeway and returned home where I had a (very accurate) tire pressure gauge. Of course, the pressure was correct in all tires. I then followed the Volvo recalibration procedure and this completed successfully until later that day when the same tire alerted to low pressure again. I rechecked, again pressure was correct, and re-ran the calibration procedure. I did not have any other false detection again until about a year later when the October 3 incident occurred. The car has had at least one “total system update” to the software to address other issues since the first false detection incident, possibly two (not sure). The problem I am having with this is that Volvo apparently decided to change from direct sensor measurement to indirect wheel speed measurement around 2019 or 2020 as a cost saving measure. That is fine, but the indirect measurement system they are using is causing so many false alarms that now the first thing I think when I see an alert is that it is not a real problem. This is not a good situation. Volvo forums are full of complaints by other owners of similar false alarms. Volvo should fix this problem through software or restore direct measurement.

Hi, 2021 Volvo S60 VIN: 7jrl12fl7ng161081 license plate: ltd-7484 (PA) title date 12/7/2021 (bought the Volvo new. . . ) I have barely 11,000 miles on the clock and have already replaced 4 low profile tires owing to potholes in highways and other roads across the united states. I really, truly want to file this complaint. I'm not sure why Volvo included low profile tires in the size 235/40r19 on their S60 models. When I drive, I feel like a downhill skier gliding from left to right, dodging potholes. . . According to my dealership keystone Volvo of doylestown, 235 s main st, doylestown, PA 18901, selling low profile tyres is a thriving industry…. According to aaa mobile mechanics, low-profile tyres are more prone to tyre and rim damage since they have less air cushioning to withstand heavy impacts from potholes and uneven places on the road. Low-profile tires are also more sensitive to road damage. Blowouts and tire failure are actually more likely on pothole-infested roadways. Given the state of the us road network, I believe your organization or whoever is in charge should not provide a type certification for cars built within the us or imported from other countries both equipped with low profile tires. . . Please advise, and I eagerly await your response. . . Best hans morisson.
I have had all 3wheels bend 1 wheel blow apart with in 7 months of owning the car . With in 15000 miles .
Lug bolts 19 mm are rusted into the 330 mm brembo disk brakes, they take over 220 ft lb of force to break lose, and you can not do that safety on the side of the road to change a flat tire.

Ongoing problem as mentioned in Volvo's technical journal "speed dependent vibrations at highway speeds" ref tj 20803. 20. 0 . At any speed of 75 mph and above the front continuously vibrates. The tires have been replaced two times in less than 2 weeks and road forced balanced by the dealership twice. The vibration does not go away. The dealership does not want to address the issue. The car is new.

We bought this car used from a Volvo dealership in August of 2019 while still under factory warranty. It has 19-inch Volvo alloy wheels with 235/40/r19 tires. In a little over a year, two of the wheels have cracked presumably after hitting potholes. We had both wheels repaired at a professional wheel repair facility. The repair worked (so far) on the first wheel but the problem has recurred twice on the second wheel repair. The Volvo dealership's only offer is to sell us a new wheel at over $700 each. We have never cracked a wheel previously in over 40 years of driving. This wheel/tire combination should never have been allowed on the road being so prone to cracking. We are at a much-increased risk of a flat tire/blowout and possible accident. The car also came from the factory without a spare tire which is also not good since we are more likely to be stranded in the event of a flat tire. We no longer consider this car roadworthy and are faced with the expensive options of either replacing the damaged wheel with a new Volvo wheel (and expect the same result), replacing all four wheels with aftermarket wheels that may or may not be better, or selling the car. We should never have been put in this position from a safety and financial perspective by this wheel or wheel/tire combination being allowed on the road.

The car has intermittent noise coming from the right side hub bearing. The dealer and Volvo corp refusing to fix the issue and even put the car on the lift. If hub will seize it can cause a big accident if it will be on the highway . All the dealer and Volvo rap did was drove the car around the block didn't hear the noise and refusing to diagnose more and replace the faulty part. Volco corp close the case on this issue and refusing to open another one. Meanwhile the car not very safe to drive. Same issue was with left side and it took Volvo month to finally replace it even they herd the noise but didnt wanna believe it was the hub. Dealer is kundert Volvo of hasbrouck.

Volvo dealers failed to fix a wheel noise issue in my car after six visits in the past three months. Axle, tire, shock, and wheel are all changed and it is still there. Without a real test on the remaining three tires on the road, now Volvo dealer starts to blame the remaining three tires which were claimed as "good" by their dealer technicians at the very beginning. Volvo refused to send corporate technicians to check the issue, and refused to do anything else for the case. The noise is very loud when the car is driven in 40-45 miles per hour. It is possible that there are other problems they haven't detect with the unusual noise in the car.
Within the first month of leasing this new car (< 250 miles), both low profile oem front tires (235/40r-19 pirelli p zero all season vol Volvo, KS, pncs xl, part number 3158400) were damaged by potholes. I was told by one local tire shop that low profile tires are more susceptible to this type of damage. I have not damaged tires on potholes like this before. Volvo does not warrant these (unless you purchase their expensive road hazard package), and pirelli's warranty does not cover this type of damage. The new tires cost $536. 34, and there's an additional $25 per tire for mounting and balancing.

I was sold this car by Volvo of north miami on 4/11/18. I had to take the car for service on 4/13 due to other repairs they did not take care of under warranty to gunther Volvo , delray beach , florida. I was told I should have never been allowed to drive the car off the lot due to the condition of the tires that were extremely dangerous and could have caused a serious accident and affected others. I was told by ricky menendez who sold the car that all there cars are inspected thoroughly before being sold.
Tahata recall. My tires are no more safe to drive with from the dealer. And only after 52000km. I am going in vacation and I will not be ablke to drive my car with these tires.

We purchased this car new from the dealer and its great. However, as I hand wash all of our cars, I couldn't help but notice that the right front wheel always has an unusual discoloration, a mix of some kind of fluid with the brake dust. The other 3 wheels exhibit only the usual brake dust; but on the right front this mix of fluid and dust doesn't just wash off. Rotate wheels, the new wheel on the right front exhibits the same discoloration. The dealer insists it is only brake dust. Now, 2 years on, most of whatever fluid was secreting to the right front wheel seems to be gone but, after retrieving the car from its 20k service, I couldn't help but notice a rumble coming from the right front. Sounds like a wheel bearing to me (in my day, I've replaced em). The dealer says its the tires; continues to say that the discoloration on only the right front, is brake dust. Even said it might be rust from the disc brakes. Ok, fine, then why none on the front left? or either of the rears? why only the right front. I have taken swabs of all 4 wheels and have them in separate labeled zip lock bags if anyone wants to run them through a spectrometer. I've never reported anything to the NHTSA before but, in light of their insistence that it is only brake dust . . . Well, I've rebuilt my share of brake systems, worked on a race team etc. , and I'm finding this all a bit insulting if not dismissive. This car is primarily used as my wife's daily commuter (30 miles round trip) in the suburbs with an occasional road trip on the books.
A rock slide left several rocks on the highway. I hit one of them and cracked a rim. Since the Volvo S60 does not come with a spare tire, I was left stranded in a canyon road in the rain with a disabled vehicle. Minimal cell phone reception made calling for help very difficult. Volvo assumes that calling their roadside assistance (if you can) and waiting for a tow truck is equivalent to carrying a spare tire. It clearly is not and can leave driver's helpless when a simple spare tire would have solved the problem. Although purchasing a spare tire is an option, it would consume truck space that is necessary for my son's stroller. I can only carry the stroller or the spare but not both. . The car should be designed to carry a spare tire if necessary.

I am smelling gas all the time my radio change channel on it,s own, air bag light is on the front right & left control arm tie rod end shaft cv shaft all is bad all @ the same time how could it be ????.
Note ahora se han mudado al 755 NW 20 st miami FL 33127 under name golden glade collision center, insurance knows about air bag it does not working properly,, they know about fraud,, investigator knows about safety parts,, insurance pay them with fake papers,, insurance knows about stolen money through the my accident,, insurance, agriculture government knows about unsafety car,, the auto shop, aaa of dade county in miami did only very superficial repair work on my car, although they collected compensation from the insurance company. They mention having repaired my seat belt system, air bags, and other mechanical items, as well as outer body parts, but it is obvious that these items have not been repaired. This was confirmed by Volvo, miami & melbourne (see attachment 2 & 3), and by j&j in palm coast (see attachment 4). More importantly, not only did they do improper and incomplete repair work, but there is indication that they themselves caused additional damages to my car, e. G. There appear scratches, the rear bumper is loose, the original front tires were removed and replaced with tires so worn that it put my son’s life and mine in grave danger! I have since replaced them by new ones. From what I have been told at Volvo, my car has suffered a loss in value owing to “created” damages equal to at least $18,000! on 9/24/14, aaa of dade county prepared an authorization form for the purpose of collecting money from the insurance company. This report states that all damages have been satisfactorily repaired on that same date. Please note, however, that the photos, clearly showing the damages to the car, were taken by the appraiser on 9/26/2014!). It thus appears that this form was used for the sole purpose of collecting money, and not, as stated, confirming repair of the damages. Please feel free to contact me should you need additional information.
Front left wheel came off when pulling into garage only held on by 1 and 1/2 bolts. 4/13/2014 engine stopped running while pulling into traffic car stalled in middle of the road. 5/5/2014 dynamic traction control system failed and car became uncontrollably wobbly while driving. 5/5/2014 other numerous failures include: breakdown of the collision avoidance system. Cruise control does not work. Front camera malfunction-took it in to get fixed still not working correctly. Ac breaks down – took it in to get fixed still has problems. Speed limit camera does not work.
No spare tires in new cars puts us consumers in danger you should be as deeply concerned, as I am, of the growing trend among car manufacturers to leave out spare tires. In fact they don’t even have space to carry them. Discounting the questionable benefit to their bottom line this is a trend that puts us drivers in considerable danger. It also leaves the us consumer at the mercy of tow truck operators and price gouging by the dealers where the car is towed. Instead of a spare they provide a form of “fix-a-flat” that pumps a sealant and air into the punctured tire. This will only work with tires with a small puncture in the tread not on larger holes or sidewall damage. It also causes irreparable damage to possibly salvageable tire. The only other option is to call and wait for emergency help, which could take hours, days or be non-existent in many areas. You can easily imagine many scenarios where the lack of a spare tire, and waiting hours for a tow, could be more than a big inconvenience, but a threat to life. A flat tire on a long deserted stretch of road late at night. A flat in a bad section of the city or a section where road debris causes multiple vehicles to get flats at the same time overwhelming emergency services. For the safety of us drivers spare tires must be supplied as standard equipment on all cars sold in the united states.
Suddenly lost control.
