2021 Volvo S60 t8 awd, VIN [xxx] , ~71k miles component: sunroof / drainage system / electrical system summary: water entered the passenger compartment through clogged sunroof drain hoses and accumulated under the front passenger seat, causing catastrophic failure of wide angle module (wam) and related electronic components (incl. Front camera and wipers). Description: after moderate rain, a large amount of water was discovered under the front passenger seat. The vehicle began displaying multiple warning messages (camera faults, wiper faults). The authorized Volvo retailer diagnosed failure of the wam and other modules due to water intrusion originating from the sunroof drainage system. This is a known, recurring defect acknowledged by Volvo in multiple technical service bulletins: - tj 31372-2 (water leakage via sunroof drain hoses) - tj 35382 (updated drain hoses - new part number) - tj 29322-3 (water ingress passenger footwell / cem area) the original drain hoses are too narrow and prone to clogging, causing water to overflow into the passenger compartment instead of exiting the vehicle. This creates a serious safety risk: - potential failure of srs airbag system - loss of electronic stability control and abs - loss of 360 camera and blind-spot monitoring - risk of electrical fire or short-circuit - failure of wipers (mine stopped working when I was driving under the rain) repair estimate: $17,825 repair is going to be delayed over 2 months awaiting parts from sweden. Vehicle was properly maintained; 70,000-mile service performed at authorized Volvo retailer on 9/24/25 - no drainage issues were noted or addresses at that time. This identical failure has been reported by hundreds of owners of 2019-2024 spa-platform Volvos (s60, v60, xc60, xc90) on NHTSA complaints, Volvo forums, and in ongoing litigation. Despite multiple tsbs and redesigned parts, Volvo has not issued a recall or notified owners of the need for preventive maintenance. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia.

The crimping on the a/c hose from the firewall to the compressor failed and leaked all the freon from the system. This is a design flaw, the mounting location causes excess vibration in the hose leading to the crimping failure. There are countless forum posts and other complaints filed by owners of the same vehicle for the exact same a/c hose. This should be a recall from Volvo. It is a major safety issue for customers like me who live in a humid environment, without a/c the windshield can fog over and hinder visibility. I contacted Volvo customer care for reimbursement and was denied as my car was not under warranty. My car only has 40,000 miles on it and this part shouldnt fail in this manner, especially at my low mileage. I have since purchased their extended warranty as this part will eventually fail again (from the design flaw in a/c system mounting location) and I don't want to pay the large repair costs again. The NHTSA should investigate this with all owners of this year/make/model and they will find Volvo needs to declare a recall and reimburse owners for the repair costs.

The high voltage coolant heater failed. It will not heat when running solely on battery. Defrost therefore will not get warm to clear windshield.
Since we purchased the car in December, water was observed on occasion streaking down the inside of the windshield. The headliner is damp after rain, and is stained from water as a result. Additionally defrost/defog wasn’t working, and my son reported having to pull over and wait for the rain to stop so he could drive with the windows down in order to be able to see the road. Incredibly unsafe/unable to drive in the rain. I recently applied pressure to the inside of the windshield with my fingertips by the a-pillars on both driver and passenger side to test the seal and visually confirmed the windshield was lifting off of the frame, revealing a broken seal along the top and sides of the windshield.

Main center display becomes blank at random times. Sometimes this is accompanied by a loud squealing sound from car audio. When display blanks, all hvac functions stop including defog, also all audio including turn signal indication sound. Sometimes display and functions self recover after approximately 15-20 seconds, sometimes it does not self recover and in these cases the ignition needs to be turned off and the drivers door opened to "turn off" the vehicle systems so that they can restart. The condition is completely random. The condition has been noted by other 2022+ Volvo owners in various forums. The software in my car has been updated following a complaint for this concern, however it has occurred again since the update. Date provided in report details is most recent event.

While driving or parked water is dripping down my window shield. This obstructs my view and distracts me from driving. It further distracts my driving if I have to wipe away the water which usually leads to smearing which causes further obstruction to my field of vision.

Original windshield never replaced unglueing to the point where you can push the glass and have it move and minor seepage of water.
Water in leaking from both sides of the windshield causing me to be distracted as I am trying to wipe water off my seat and avoid getting my legs/pants wet. Also the water running down the inside of the windshield in addition to the water on the outside causes visibility issues. Volvo needs to fix this problem.

I was driving down the freeway and the driverside door swung open while it was locked. This is after the door handle recall repair was performed. Prior to the recall repair, my door never came open like that while drving. This is dangerous because I could have fallen out, or a car could have hit my door! also, the windshield leaks on the inside and has been doing that for a long while. Volvo service said it does not leak. It does leak when raining or ice/snow melt. This is dangerous because windshield wipers do not work on the interior part of the window to wipe away water so the driver can see.
I turned the car on and got an error message that said the turn indicator system failed. After trying to clear the message from the dash using the button on the steering wheel, I discovered that nothing on the steering wheel was working, including the windshield wipers or any buttons on the steering wheel. I called the manufacturer and they told me not to drive it and they towed it to the dealer. The dealer said they had see this before as either a software issue or electrical issue and would need to replace the stalks and buttons.

Water was dripping onto my lap while I was driving (distracting), as well as obstructing my vision while it ran down the inside of the glass. Took the car to the Volvo dealership and found the windshield was loose. Had to pay to have the windshield replaced for safety reasons.
Windshield separating from the car at the top. Potentially hazardous from water running down the inside of the windshield that can not be cleared except by hand while driving. Also likely to cause water damage to the interior of the car!.
The sunroof spontaneously exploded outward on the highway, no possibility of road debris hitting it as no other cars were nearby, and I was not close to an overpass. I believe temperature fluctuation causes it, as I was recently in below-freezing weather (f). On the day of the explosion I drove south starting at f driving to f.

While driving on a sunny day I kept being blinded by chrome / mirror finish elements surrounding the steering wheel. It wasn't happening only for a moment, my eyes hurt after driving home from work. That is very distracting and affects driver's vision! to hide my eyes from the blinding light, I had to move the steering wheel to very uncomfortable position (what still didn't solve the problem) or pretty much cover flashing spots with my hands. That creates a hazardous conditions everytime when the sun is out. I am attaching a picture, but it doesn't show how harsh are these lights on human eye. That needs to be experienced. Maybe it wouldn't be that much of a problem if it was rare but it happens continuously when the sun is higher on the sky (around noon hours).
For the last year or so I have been experiencing a leak on the passenger side coming from the windshield. It is quite noticeable after heavy rain and even going through the carwash. The water has damaged the interior material right behind the sun visor. As a result, I glued it a few times but of course it is not staying because of the continual rain. I also have to keep a damp rid underneath the passenger seat because the car smells damp and musky after it has rained and being closed up. On one occasion, my passenger had been put at risk because they got soaked really bad during a rain storm and became ill. Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do about it and as you can imagine, my passenger was extremely upset.
Semi-circular stress fracture in windshield occurred on its own at some point after driving it. No impact at all. Fracture starts from driver's side upper corner down towards driver's viewing area and then curves upward.
The front windshield has a faulty gasket, I put sealant from autozone but didn’t help. Water falls down the windshield causing skewed vision. I’m also afraid that there may be some type of short, which can cause damage either parked or driving.
Windscreen wiper motors failed during inclement weather making visibility impossible. The vehicle was only approximately 2 years old at the time of failure. This created a serious safety issue and may have led to a crash and injury. The dealer diagnosed the issue as failed wiper motors and replaced the motors under manufacturer's warranty.

There is an area on the outside of the drivers side windshield about 5 inches tall and 14 inches long that does not have clear visibility when it gets wet. The moisture does not wipe away when the wiper blades wipe this area. Instead, the moisture remains obstructing the view until the wiper blade passes the area again blurring the area even more. This visual obstruction is positioned directly between the driver's eyes and the view outside the windshield. This problem only appears on the driver side not on the passenger side. The dealer was shown the issue and agreed that there was something odd but said that they have seen this in the other Volvo S60s on their lot so they accepted this as normal. However, in an earnest attempt to rectify the issue, the dealer has changed the wiper blades many times but the problem still persists. The dealer cleaned the windshield with water and fine steel wool. This did not help. They contacted Volvo corporate and were told to change the wiper arm. This did not fix the issue either. When this issue was brought to the attention of the Volvo regional service manager, his position was that this was not an issue because other Volvo S60 vehicles had the same issue and that there was nothing wrong with the mechanical functionality of the wiper system. It is my contention that there is a surface defect with this windshield which is causing reduced visibility. And I would like an investigation to begin in an effort to fix a flaw in these already otherwise very safe cars.

I purchased the car on Friday, October 18, on Saturday, October 19, the car went haywire, windshield wipers would turn off, no turn signals, no headlights, and no instrument panel. Totally unsafe. Contacted dealer, and he said, "wow, you're the 2nd person today to call with these issues. We think there may be a recall, but you'll have to take it to the german dealership on Monday. " no help, no concern for safety, nothing! had the vehicle towed in on Monday, and german dealership has to order the software. My car sits, the dealership that sold the S60 to us, denies that there is a recall on my vehicle! capitol motors should be closed down! I am paying for a new car, I cannot even drive!.
The wiper fluid stopped coming out from the nozzles, as well as headlight washers during snowy weather. The car has a sensor to notify driver if the fluid levels are below a specific amount. No warning was issued. Windshield washer fluid was added but there was no improvement. There was noted snow accumulation inside the engine comparment at the driver's side, near the area of windshield wiper fluid reservoir.
