1 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1999 Volvo S70

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

Vehicle was involved in a 45mph collision on 9/12/2017. Front driver's side was impacted. The collision was severe enough to cause the front passenger airbag to blow. However, the front driver's side airbag did not blow up, despite the impact happening on the front driver side. A complaint was submitted to Volvo on 9/19/2017. A call from (201) 768-7300 was received today 9/20. I forgot to note down her name but she was a Volvo representative. She correctly stated that there was no occupant weight sensor in the passenger side and therefore they cannot discriminate when a crash is severe. However, she stated that because I had my seat belt on, the system detected that I was safe and therefore did not blow up the driver airbag. This explanation seemed very bizarre to me as I believe if the crash was severe enough to blow up the passenger airbag, the driver airbag should blow up too, especially since the impact was on the driver side. I was repeatedly told that the system was complicated and therefore would not understand. I found this explanation to be unacceptable.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2000 Volvo S70

Failure Date: 02/24/2008

My fiance went out to the vehicle which was parked to retrieve an item she left in it. Upon her sitting down in the driver seat, mind you the engine was not on nor was the key in the ignition, the side airbag deployed striking the left side of her face. The force stunned her for a few seconds, leaving her confused on what had happened. Her hearing was also affected. She went to the emergency room to get checked out where it was concluded that she suffered a scratched cornea due to the powder released from the airbag, as well as her aqueous radius humor of her eye was knocked out of balance from the force of the deployment.

7 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1998 Volvo S70

Failure Date: 02/16/1999

The driver's side airbag did not deploy even though the car was hit on the side. Contacted Volvo and asked to inspect. Their answer was that everything was ok. I asked for a report with all the engineering data and supporting documents to show why it was ok, no response, have asked twice. They say everything is ok. I think there is a problem and they are hiding the truth. The side air bag should have deployed to give extra protection. I was not satisfied with their answer and I do need you help.
