1 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2006

I purchased my Volvo S80 not even 1 year ago and I am experiencing problems with my car losing acceleration in traffic and idling wildly. The problem has become so severe that at one point at a complete stop, my car surged forward and hit the car in front of me! thank goodness there was no damage or injuries to myself or to the car involved. I took the vehicle to the dealership and was informed the problem lies with the throttle. However, Volvo refuses to issue a recall and hides behind the "warranty" song and dance even though they agree there is a problem with the throttles in their vehicles. I did much research (or so I thought) before purchasing my vehicle. I chose Volvo because they advertise the fact that they manufacture one of the safest cars on the market. My wife owns a Volvo s60 and has had similar problems. I fear for the safety of my wife and 6 year old son. I plan to get rid of this dangerous vehicle first chance I get.

2 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2005

My 2001 Volvo S80 died in traffic as I was leaving the post office in texarkana, TX. It would not restart and I let it roll back to try and get partially out of the roadway. It was towed to the Volvo dealership in shreveport, la. The service manager called and told me it was the electronic throttle modulator and would have to be replaced. He called back later and told me the electronic module in the gas pedal had a fault and also needed to be replaced. In total the bill was over $1500. 00 I researched online and found that this was a high failure rate part and that California had filed a lawsuit to force Volvo to do a recall and also reimburse owners who had already paid to have this problem fixed. I called Volvo and talked to donna, a customer service rep, who said she would talk to the regional manager to see is there was anything they could do for me. The car was repaired and after a week of phone calls back and forth, of course Volvo said they could do nothing to help me with the expense.

3 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2003

Car ran rough rpms up & down felt like car would stall if foot did not stay on gas pedal. Did not feel safe driving because of potential to stall at any time. Took to dealer who replaced the electronic throttle module (at our expense). Now we are reading that Volvo has reversed its position--but only in sweden not north America. Now car is running rough again and rpms are sticking high, then dropping, do not feel comfortable driving. Volvo says too bad.

4 Ignition Module problem

While driving 65 mph lost steering ability and engine completely shut down. Took vehicle to the dealer, and problem has not been remeded as of yet. Dealer statesdthat it was a glitch in computer. Please provide any further information.
