Blind Spot Detection problem #1

Most concerning: front driver door latch quit working while driving leaving door to swing open during traffic. This is a known issue that led to recalls of other Volvo models (2011 - 2017), but the S80 was excluded. It was a terrifying ordeal that has now happened twice (during freezing conditions here in colorado). Less concerning to me but a problem: the blindspot monitoring system malfunctions and keeps on blinking even when there's nothing in the blindspot - which betrays the reason it exists.

Blind Spot Detection problem #2

At night, when a direct strong light (headlight) from behind shines on the car, the blis system stop working. The only way to reset the system is to stop and restart the car, instead of turning the system button off and then back on. This is unsafe since when you are on the highway, it is unsafe to do so. A simple fix is a software update that will reset the system when you turn it off and then on again.
