The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer confirmed that the vehicle was not covered under NHTSA id number: 10234800 (equipment) extended warranty coverage due to the vehicle exceeding the mileage limitations. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.
Volvo dealer describe as issue: motor mounts: front lower engine mount collapsed, other engine mount not yet verified. Power steering: stiff and hard to turn wheels. Transmission: transmission shift sometimes is not easy to move up to down.
My vehicle is having an oil consumption issue. I recently purchased a vehicle and the document stated that it was a oil change completed. Called the dealership to verify that a oil change was indeed completed. Oil light came on stating that there was no or low oil. Arrive to oil change location and there was no oil reported in vehicle. Oil change completed, and 1600 miles later I have no oil in my vehicle again. I noticed the engine running a little harder than normal, and the car is extremely difficult catching acceleration. I contacted Volvo cars llc, and they suggested I bring my vehicle to a dealership to have it evaluated at a cost.
I was driving and my vehicle completely shut down leaving me stranded in the middle of the road. I was not able to turn on the hazard lights. It appeared as if someone completed unplugged my car from the power outlet. Completely black screen on all electronics and if the door opened no lights came on. I have the vehicle at the dealer and they indicated that their might be a corrupt file and a software update is required. I just want to make sure this does not happen to anyone else. This happened while I was driving the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. Also, the car was not able to go in neutral.
Vehicle has been taken to dealer many times over two years for intermittent failure of the passenger side blis. Will fail to indicate vehicle in blindspot in motion or stationary. Escalated to Volvo, their mechanic says working as designed, regardless of failures. Will escalate higher level. Drivers side blis works without failure. Volvo says traveling east/west is problem, despite being told failure occurs while traveling north/south.
Passenger side blis works intermittently, drivers side works flawlessly. Returned to dealer multiple times, unable to effect repair. Have appealed to Volvo, waiting communication. Dealer states I should not expect the passenger side blis to work the same as the drivers side. I should be more aware, and not expect the passenger side blis to work consistently, that would be unreasonable.
If you are thinking about buying a Volvo, please consider otherwise. I am currently driving a 2015 Xc60 t6 and have had issues with the city safety feature on the car. Please read the attached letter sent to Volvo directly after getting no resolution through the local dealership. The 'offer' we received from Volvo added $50 to my per month payment and put me into another 5-year loan, as if we were just another customer coming in to trade in a car. The experience, or lack thereof, with both the local dealership and Volvo directly is incredibly disconcerting. As a result, we will never purchase another Volvo.
Passenger side blind spot sensor works intermittently. Often will not detect vehicles the size of a truck.
Second occurance. Slowing for stop, vehicle stalled, message to push start button. If traffic had been heavy I would have been rear ended. Dealer said no faults in obdc, no faults in Volvo database.
Hard braking at 5 mph stalled engine. Had to place in park to restart. If had benn in heavy traffic accodent would have occured.
Issue will definitely will fail to prevent many potential crashes: the horn on our 2015 Volvo Xc60 has failed to work for me on 3 or more occasions when it was necessary to warn another vehicle of a potential collision (e. G. , other car changing lanes without looking, other car backing out of a driveway without looking). The horn only works if the driver to presses the large center of the steering wheel exceptionally hard to activate it. There is far too much resistance when pushing the center of the steering wheel to effectively activate the horn. I have even witnessed my husband (who has more arm strength than me) unable to sound the horn when a car was cutting into us from another lane and he was applying a reasonable amount of force.
Multiple near-miss collisions + improperly functioning horn: the horn on my 2015. 5 Volvo Xc60 has failed to work effectively on about 5 or more occasions when it was necessary to warn another vehicle of a potential collision (e. G. , other car changing lanes without looking, other car backing out of a driveway without looking). This issues is clearly a failure in design and not a defect specific to our vehicle, since the horn does in fact work. However, it only works if the driver to presses the large center of the steering wheel exceptionally hard to activate it. There is far too much resistance when pushing the center of the steering wheel to effectively activate the horn (which I have experienced on multiple occasions where I needed the horn to sound for safety reasons, and it did not sound even though I pressed it with more than reasonable amount of force). My wife has less arm strength than me, so the problem is even worse for her.
There is an accordion style piece on the left and right side of the sunroof that expands when the sunroof is opened as a vent. The left (driver) side accordion piece became loose and fell on my head three times. It was repaired by the dealer I purchased the vehicle from twice. When I took the vehicle to the dealer the first time I was informed that part has fallen off of many vehicles. The person that scheduled the appointment informed me she was going to watch the technician as they reinstall the part so she can reinstall others. A service report wasn't made by the dealer because it took less than two minutes for the part to be repaired.
