The Volvo Xc60 re-charge/hybrid is not equipped with a spare tire. A tire repair kit is provided. I had a flat tire resulting from sidewall damage. The repair kit is ineffective for this type of tire failure. This required towing the vehicle to a tire shop for replacement. If this had happened in a rural setting, at night, or on a weekend the vehicle's occupants would have been put in danger. I was not informed of this feature at the time of sale of the vehicle. This information would have influenced my decision to purchase the vehicle. I am also told that a conventional spare tire from Volvo is not a solution to the problem as it won't support the weight of this model.
On two occasions we have discovered cracks in a wheel on the vehicle. The second crack is causing the tire to lose pressure. We have no recollection of any impact that would have damaged the wheels. It appears the vehicle is too heavy for the wheels, causing them to fail under normal usage.
