The contact owns a 2010 Volvo Xc60. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the charging system failure warning message was displayed, and the battery warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic replaced the battery and alternator; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The contact related the failure to Volvo's technical service bulletin: tj 27910 (anti-tamper device, communication lost). The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.
