Tire Problems of Volvo XC60

Four tires purchased June 2022. As of July 2025 with 17,500 miles on the tires there is ozone/weather cracking on the entire tire and the sidewall near the rim is failing with the cord visible on one tire.

Pirelli scorpion zer all season 255/40r21 the tread is falling off in chuncks. Both the front and back tires.

The contact owns a 2021 Volvo Xc60 equipped with continental tires, tire line: cross contact, tire size: 255/45/r20, dot: (n/a). The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the rear passenger’s side tire had a blowout. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was confirmed that there was a sidewall blowout. The tires were not replaced. The tires were the original tires. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

Our tires are continental 255/45r20. It blowouted today when we were on the freeway with the speed at 65 miles per hour. We pulled our car to the shoulder of freeway after the rear driver side tire was blowouted. The tire was completed damage with many explore holes. We can see the bulges too. Our car is only one year old. The tire on right front in the passenger side was blowouted in March this year and we had replaced it. We can prove this tire is a defect tire.

The polyurethane foam inside the tire came unstuck, resulting in severe shaking in the car above 40 miles an hour. The tire came on a new 2019 Volvo xc 60 that’s a dealer would not replace the cost of the tire.

Tires are continental cross contact 255/45r20 105h. Miles - 39,000. Severe vibration started coming from rear of car at speeds starting at 45 mph. Alignment was done which did not resolve the issue. Tires removed from rim and two found to be failing inside. The noise reducing foam glued to the inside wall of the tire tread had become almost entirely detached and bunched up in a unsymmetrical configuration. In addition the rubber on the inside where the foam had been was ablating off the surface. This causes a 10oz imbalance in each tire. Additional photos available if requested.

I have been driving with a bubble on the side wall of the tire. According with tire place this is been for long time. My car does not have even 9000 miles tire in under warranty but not either pirelli or Volvo of America is taking responsibility for this. I drive in the highway I am a woman single mother with my son . . . And driving under this circumstances in not safe. But apparently pirelli of Volvo are just blaming each other. . I have to chance the tire cover the expenses. And waiting for an answer.

The dealer was made aware of the failure and was sending a tow truck to tow the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
