Wheel problem #1

Yesterday, while driving on highway, I received a tire pressure warning for all four tires. I filled all tires to the recommended 35psi. The warning went away. Today, after I parked my vehicle, I saw a “parking brake service required” message on my dash. The “park” indicator on my dash started flashing. Now, I’m worried about a brake failure. I only mentioned the tire pressure warning bc I’ve never had multiple error messages like this before.

Wheel problem #2

The Volvo Xc60 re-charge/hybrid is not equipped with a spare tire. A tire repair kit is provided. I had a flat tire resulting from sidewall damage. The repair kit is ineffective for this type of tire failure. This required towing the vehicle to a tire shop for replacement. If this had happened in a rural setting, at night, or on a weekend the vehicle's occupants would have been put in danger. I was not informed of this feature at the time of sale of the vehicle. This information would have influenced my decision to purchase the vehicle. I am also told that a conventional spare tire from Volvo is not a solution to the problem as it won't support the weight of this model.

Wheel problem #3

Good morning: I've attached a letter that I've written to Volvo USA regarding their security lug bolts on the wheels of their vehicles and the adapter that they provide to remove this. I found out after incurring a flat tire that these adapters are often non-functional and that the dealer is well aware of this. I think this is an issue that Volvo should address for all current and past owners. Also, during this incident I experienced what I think is a flaw in their tire pressure monitoring system - it illuminated a yellow caution which, I've seen happen when one tire was not at the same pressure as the others. In this instance the tire was flat. Shouldn't that warrant a different indication? thank you for your attention to this.

Wheel problem #4

On two occasions we have discovered cracks in a wheel on the vehicle. The second crack is causing the tire to lose pressure. We have no recollection of any impact that would have damaged the wheels. It appears the vehicle is too heavy for the wheels, causing them to fail under normal usage.

Wheel problem #5

- back left axle went loose with the back left wheel while driving, causing the car to rotate 45 degrees, scratching the ground. Once the car drifted back horizontally, I used the brakes to stop the car. Multiple pictures show the defect. Back left lights where the axle went off and the wheel is not broken, showing no collision. Liquid escaped from the bottom. Available for inspection and photos as well. -had I not been able to use the brakes after the car rotated sideways, we would have crashed. This could have caused major injuries to us and/or others. -the police inspected the car and didn't qualify it as an accident since they said no damages, other objects, or vehicles were involved. The manufacturer's local shop made a 4 lines and inaccurate report to qualify it as an accident falsely. If there were an accident, lights would brake before the axle and there was no pothole -there were no warnings. It happened suddenly.

Wheel problem #6

I attempted to use the temporary spare tire that came with the car, and 1) the lug wrench provided with the car rounded out when trying to remove the lug bolts, 2) the lug bolts were too long and bottom out in the hub before they tighten down the thin steel spare rim to the car. In short, the spare tire is does not work with the lug bolts that come with the car. This poses a risk as owners will reasonable think they have a means to mitigate a flat tire and be caught stranded as even a well maintained, factor-designed spare tire kit is useless.

Wheel problem #7

I purchased this vehicle a week ago, I used the emergency brake which I use when I park in my driveway because it's slanted. Well after the first time I disengaged it went to drive and heard a weird noise when coming to a stop which only got worse. I brought it back to the dealer to find out that the e-brake never fully disengaged on the right side only. I was able to get the entire assembly replaced but now I'm not comfortable using the e brake at all out of fear it will destroy another assembly. Also since I got it back I have noticed weird electrical issues like all my 12v sockets are out or I come to a stop at a red light 2 car lengths away and all my blind spot sensors go off for like 30 seconds then stop.

Wheel problem #8

I had been experiencing louder than what should be normal noise while driving my vehicle. Several days later the vehicle started to vibrate while in motion driving through city streets. Then on November 24th while driving along the NJ turnpike the vehicle began to vibrate and bounce so severely that I had to pull over because I thought a tire was going to blow out. The vibration was so intense while going the speed limited. I had to reduce the speed and drive with hazards on to get to my location. I immediately made a service appointment to have the vehicle looked at. The Volvo service department conducted a road test as well as a balance test. What I was told was that the foam belt inside 3 of the 4 tires had started to break free which caused my vehicle to vibrate all over the freeway. The dealership said that they would remove the foam and that they tires "should be ok" or they could replace the tires but I would have to pay for them. I have a brand new car that is leased with brand new continental crosscontact lx sport tires and I believe that the manufacturer should be responsible for fixing the defect that occurred in the tires. Honestly, I am lucky that my car didn't flip over!.

Wheel problem #9

My issue is related to the constant corrosion problems on tps that lead to multiple replacements on my vehicle. It was discovered during semi annual changeover of winter and summer tires, where one of the wheels and tires deflated due to corrosion of the tps. Costly part that is likely defective in design and if failed on roadway could have resulted in a flat tire and vehicle roadway incident. This is a repeated problem. . .

Wheel problem #10

The axles are already needing to be replaced on the front wheels. There is only 68,000 miles on them. The auto shop says it's too early for that to be happening. Not to mention there is a whopping price tag for the parts!!.

Wheel problem #11

When I purchased the vehicle, I had told sacramento nello Volvo that there was a issue with the handling of the car. I did not look at the rotors when I purchased the vehicle. I have been out of the country five times since the purchase of the car so, I have bearly driven the vehicle. I was fortunate that I was driving at a low speed when I used the brakes in a hard stop and they failed to prevent a collision. I was driving on a city street driving north towards travis afb.

Wheel problem #12

Tire pressure monitor susceptible to corrosion from road salt and can blow out valve stem rapidly deflating the tire. We had just returned from a trip with the vehicle and parked it at home when a short time later the valve stem had blown out deflating the tire.

Wheel problem #13

Tire pressure sensor gauges are corroded and have failed on three wheels in the last three years.

Wheel problem #14

Vehicle was purchased from west county Volvo in st. Louis, missouri as a new car (first sale) on July 11, 2015. At the time of sale it was disclosed that the vehicle was used a dealer demonstration model with 7,327 miles on the vehicle and the vehicle had not been previously sold. It was disclosed that the dealer had "swapped" wheel sets with a newer 2016 Xc60 that had just arrived on the dealers lot. After accepting delivery and driving the vehicle approximately 30 highway miles towards kansas city, the tpms malfunction indicator illuminated. The dealer was contacted, and declined to re-inspect the vehicle because its service department had already closed. After arriving in kansas city, it was determined by the dealership and Volvo cars north America that the tpms sensors installed on the 2016 model year wheels are not compatible with the tpms monitoring system installed in 2015. 5 model year Xc60's. Accordingly, due to the dealer modification of the vehicle, the vehicle was sold in a first retail sale without a functioning tpms monitoring system. The dealer may have failed to exercise reasonable care by modifying the vehicle prior to sale without making a determination whether the safety systems were compatible. As of July 15, 2015, the dealer has been unable to rectify the defect.

Wheel problem #15

While driving the low tire press warning came on after pulling into service station, approx 2 blocks pressure in tire was 25# when attempting to add air the valve stem end fell off exposing the shrader valve. After taking to dealer they replaced tire press monitor module under warranty. Aapprox 6 months earlier I had a low air press warning on a different wheel and after driving about 1/4 mile home inspection showed valve stem was gone, dealer replaced press sender unit and tire at my expense. Xc70 has tj24767 dated Dec 2011 that addresses tpms nut corrosion. When dealer was question if this applied to Xc60 was told they seldom see this problem but would not replace monitors.
