The transmission is slipping between gears 2-3 and 3-4. Mechanics recommends transmission replacement. Car has 94,000 miles. This is a family car and not driven hard. I've had 3 cars over hundred thousand miles and this is the first time I've had a tranmission failure on the most expensive care I've owned.
On November 8, 2011, ms. Janice cervelli sustained minor personal injuries and severe damage to her vehicle as the result of an unintended acceleration. The incident occurred immediately after ms. Cervelli accidently backed into a utility pole in the parking area of a professional office plaza located at 620 north country club in tucson, arizona. Immediately following the low speed impact with the utility pole, ms. Cervelli put the vehicle in drive, at which time the vehicle quickly accelerated, and surged forward despite the fact that ms. Cervelli was pressing on the brake pedal with all her strength. Ms. Cervelli reports that she could feel the brake pedal ?surging? under her foot while the engine rpms continued to rise. The vehicle jumped the parking barrier, causing severe damage to the left front wheel and related suspension. The vehicle continued to accelerate forward to impact the professional office building, causing damage to the left front quarter and left side of the vehicle. Air bags did not deploy.
2001 Volvo Xc70 transmission fail at 97k miles. Transmission has never behaved appropriately, up/down shift erratic, etc. Vehicle has been the recipient of numerous software upgrades, transmission flush/filter, and a new valve body. Transmission still failed and Volvo says I'm out of luck. Bought new in 2001 for $42,000. Vehicle also failed to operate March of 2006 where a "performance reduced" message was exhibited. After turning car off for several moments, the car ran fine. I suspected a possible issue with the etm. Portland Volvo installed an etm software upgrade on April 6, 2006. Car has not had a repeat occurrence of this nature but was shifting oddly as previously described.
Car rpm races an additional 2-3000rpm out of no where while driving. When this happens, the car goes into a mode of neutral and then when rpm drops back to where it should be car 'kicks back in' and moves forward (estimating start date. . . Happend almost immediately after puchase of car. . . Just filed lemon law and for arbitration. Dealer and Volvo rep saw car minimum 4x, swore not transmission, reran electrical chips and can not solve prob. Or find it. Not the Volvo mechanics or Volvo rep. After 2 transmission denials . . Outright!! including svc oders saying cked it and ok. . . They now want ot 'see if transmission' is problem which puts me at great risk. I have already been on interstate with cars coming behind me at 75mph while my car all of a sudden goes nowhere!.
