2 Wiper problem of the 2008 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 03/25/2023

I have noticed water leaking into the inside of my windshield and also noticed that the front and rear carpets are damp and the car is developing a musty smell. Upon closer inspection it appears that the top of the windshield is unbonded from the frame and moves outward when pressure is applied against it. This is a serious safety concern as the windshield is a structural component of the vehicle and the integrity of the vehicle with an unbonded windshield compromises the vehicle safety. Beyond that structural concern, the inside windshield fogs us consistently causing impaired visibility while driving, especially in the rain.

3 Wiper problem of the 2013 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 10/21/2022

Top windshield seal leaks, causing water running down windshield, and excess condensation creating visibility issues. Known problem by Volvo USA and dealers.

4 Wiper problem of the 2010 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

The windscreen seal has failed. Water leaking into the overhead lighting fixture and main cabin. This will ruin the car, and shouldn't happen to any car. The windscreen, when properly attached to the body, contributes to the structural integrity and crashworthiness of the vehicle. If the screen is only partly bonded, any stress could detach it and the upper part of the body would suffer reduced strength integrity. I can push the windscreen out with my hand.

5 Wiper problem of the 2012 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 06/27/2022

Windshield leaking for about 2 tears got worse and was found to be "loose windshield and mobile" and "hazardous" by technician.

6 Wiper problem of the 2011 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 02/08/2022

The windshield seal has failed causing rain water and melting snow and ice to come in the car and flow down the windshield and impair vision through the windshield. This has become a safety concern when driving in snow and rain. The water dripping down on the controls is also a safety concern and distraction while driving.

7 Wiper problem of the 2013 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 01/08/2022

Windshield seal failure. Water/rain/carwash now leaks into the cabin of the car down the inside of the windshield directly in front of the driver's field of vision, obscuring visibility while driving. This is a clear safety hazard that is well chronicled on Volvo owner-sites. Volvo needs to issue a recall, as this affects the entire p3 platform (s60/v70/xc70).

8 Wiper problem of the 2011 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 12/26/2021

Windshield sealant is deteriorating and glass is no longer fully attached to frame. Water is coming directly in from openings along driver's side roof and pooling under pedals.

9 Wiper problem of the 2012 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 11/20/2021

Windshield seal leaking at top. This started a few weeks ago, I noticed water drips run down the inside of the windshield in front of the driver. I took a 4-hour trip last week and it rained for 30 minutes, the leak became worst causing me to need to wipe the inside of the windshield. Yesterday, I went through the car wash and water pour down onto the dashboard, instrument cluster, steering wheel, and airbag. I have to get paper towels and dry things before I could drive. Today, I drove to the grocery in light rain, not a big problem when driving at speed however when going slower or braking water runs down the inside of the windshield. I now carry a small towel to wipe and dry the windshield. This is affecting the visibility and safety of driving the car.

10 Wiper problem of the 2008 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 03/13/2020

After getting a car wash (on a track, in neutral) the windshield on the drivers side leaks, and it also does the same thing in my 2010 xc60.

11 Wiper problem of the 2008 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 02/08/2020

The problems include door latches quit working and unable to secure doors when vehicle was stationary, doors could latch but upon starting the vehicle the locks would not engage and unable to drive or leave the vehicle if the doors are unable to engage. The passenger and driver side mirrors falling/flying off the mount while in motion and then shattering on the road way. When vehicle is stationary the rear door not catching when fully open and automatically closes in rapid motion. The am radio transmission/reception motor stopping,.

12 Wiper problem of the 2012 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 12/25/2019

The contact owns a 2012 Volvo Xc70. While the contact was driving in the rain, water was entering the vehicle. The contact discovered the windscreen failed and caused the front windshield to become unsecured. The vehicle was taken to Volvo of monterey in seaside, CA where it was diagnosed that the window seal was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,000.

13 Wiper problem of the 2016 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

The backup camera is malfunctioning now because the view field is partially blocked by the vehicle body. I was told that there're some other cars (including some new cars at dealer) have similar problems. I visited the retailer and then contacted the custom care center of Volvo. However, the response is disappointing (honestly, unacceptable) because I was told that Volvo cannot fix it.

14 Wiper problem of the 2013 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 04/18/2018

Windshield loose at top sealing surface per mechanic. Leaks at times during car wash, heavy rain.

15 Wiper problem of the 2012 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 01/15/2017

Water streaking was noticed on the inside of the windshield in front of the driver's seat. We cleaned the window in case the streak was left from a previous cleaning. During a rainstorm a fresh drip of water was moving down the inside of the windshield. I researched the problem and saw that there are issues with the bonding of windshields on Volvo cars so I pushed on the window lightly from the inside and saw the windshield move about 1/16 inch on both sides. There was little resistance to movement. The car is equipped with sensors mounted to the windshield which serve to maintain following distance to other vehicles and also act as safety devices to avoid collisions with vehicles and pedestrians. This is a safety issue since the airbag pushes against the inside of the windshield when deployed and an unbonded windshield will not serve to hold passenger in place. If the windshield is severely unattached it could come out of the vehicle during operation.

16 Wiper problem of the 2012 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

The seal for the windshield has failed along the top passenger side. From the inside of the vehicle, one can push the windshield enough to see a gap. Water enters when raining; I believe this is also a safety issue is the seal completely fails. It started at about 55 months after delivery and 24,000 miles.

17 Wiper problem of the 2005 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 07/08/2014

The contact owns a 2005 Volvo Xc70. While driving approximately 15 mph, the instrument panel failed and the abs, alternator, and urgent warning system indicators illuminated. During the failure, the windshield wipers activated and could not be turned off. An independent mechanic stated that the central electrical module was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 115,000.

18 Wiper problem of the 2012 Volvo XC70

Failure Date: 01/11/2013

Windshield wiper speed on highest setting is unable to keep up with moderate to heavy rain. Called dealership this morning and was told that numerous other customers had called as well and that it is a Volvo issue that affects nearly all models.
