general problems of the 2004 Volvo XC90

Is been stolen form my home and trying to fine it.

Transmision is struggling on 3rd or 4th shift, I read on internet many colvos this trim failing and been rebuilted and still failing.

Srs- airbag service urgent oil light sometimes appear.

My Volvo xc 90 cannot shift to park or reverse, it remained in drive or neutral position. Was unable to remove keys from ignition due to problem. It is a safety hazard that when I searched u-tube found there were numerous people that encountered the same problem. It just had a service 1 month ago.

I have experienced the known issue with the central electronic module many times now. I have been driving at highway speeds and then experience the momentary jerking, loss of power, loss of instrument panel, and more. Sometimes I start my vehicle and it starts in limp home mode. Very frustrating and dangerous. This should be recalled and repaired by Volvo.

Our 2004 Volvo xc-90 developed a warning light that the stability control was inactive. In addition, we experienced a "sloshing" sound in the passenger compartment akin to a bottle of water rolling around the back. Upon inspection it was determined that the yaw sensor was damaged due to corrosion from defective sun-roof drains which allowed water intrusion into the vehicle body. No external leaks or issues were evident and the issue was well described upon an internet search.

Sun roof glass shattered while driving 55+ mph on the interstate freeway under normal condition during my commute home. I called the police thinking that someone had throw a rock down from a bridge overhead, but once stopped I found no evidence of an object being the cause of the glass shattering. There were no marks on the roof of the vehicle or any object found inside the vehicle. It was a spontaneous shattering of the sun roof glass on an otherwise normal drive home on a sunny day, no weather, temp was around 75 degrees.

I purchased the Xc90 dame day once leaving the dealership there was no gas stop to put gas in car once filled up car would get out of park wad stuck there for 15 min tried to take key out would not allow me to called dealer once the car could get to draler they gave me answers ad I have to pump the brakes and I should b. Fine I was scared but had to get home to my town wrnt to work on the 25th of April 2014 was stuck at work for over 30 min terrified im finanicing the vechical sine its late I will have to call the dealer and finance in the am cars should not b doin this had the car for two days total nightmare also on dash it says anti skid needs service with a yellow warning symbol also service alarm also showed up what can I do im a single mom now I have a vechicle that I cant drive I need your help they also wouldnt provide a car fax they said they have a safety record but it only shows who ownef the car and purchased dates please help if I cant drive I will lose my job and everything I worked hard for I hope to hear from you soon dealerships should not be able to rip of hardworking people thanks miss hicks.

While driving, car stopped accelerating and urgent transmission required light came on. Took it to dealership today and was told a new transmission is needed; total cost $6800. I know this year and model vehicle has had several issues with transmission. When I called Volvo, they said nothing could be done.

The ignition turns to the accessory position if the key is bumped, while the vehicle is in gear. The vehicle loses power steering and power brakes. This has happened twice in the last year.

Last year(2013) I noticed when it rain, my driver side floor will be occasionally damped. It was random and didnt happen everytime it rained, so I blew it off. As spring of 2014 approaches & the rain becomes more frequent in illinois, my driver floor becomes more & more wet, not damped but soaking wet. Puddle of water that is. Im not sure wat it is, but as I research the problem I find several complaints of the issue being a sunroof drain issue. My issue is increasing & if someone can provide more information on this it would be greatly appreciated, because my carpet is ruined & smelly.

We were driving on the highway at night in heavy rain when the computer shorted out. The car jolted 2 or 3 times and then the dash and everything the computer controls died. The car still ran, and we were able to make it home, but it was very dangerous. We quickly learned that anytime there is heavy rain or extreme heat this same thing happens. What remains on the dash is an srs airbag error message.

Front lights go off got a ticket for that reason and only thru that ticket did I know that the lights go off it happens once in a while and when so I have to go to side of the road and turn car off and turn on again, wont happen for a period and then surprise it happens again. We bought the car used and we dont know if there is any recalls it might not have been taken care of.

Hello Volvo, for the record, we love our Volvo SUV (2004, Xc90). Over the years the service from michelle balside at Volvo on plainfield road in cincinnati has been truly excellent, her contact information is attached. However, we have has an issue since 2011 that has not been resolved, which is so uncharacteristic of Volvo. I am hoping you can help me change the outcome. For years my husband’s right headlight has been turning on and off intermittently. This is very dangerous when he drives to and from work at night on an old 4 lane highway (columbia parkway) that has no separation between east and west bound lanes, which means cars travel head-on at 70 miles an hour. Our dealer looked at the issue several times and said they could not fix it; so we lived with the dangerous issue because we thought the problem was unique to us. Recently, someone told us they were having issues with their Volvo headlights and they found a blog on edmonds which listed a lot of other Volvo owners with the same issue. I have attached the blog for your reference. The blog refers to a repair kit. Please let me know if Volvo corporate can send a repair kit to our dealer in cincinnati. We have been loyal customers and we are thinking of giving our used Volvo to our daughter when she turns 16 next spring, and buying a new Volvo for my husband, bill. Please show your customers that you care and you will resolve the headlight issue, it could save a life someday. For now, we “hope and pray” on a daily basis that the headlight functions as it should.

Swivel and spring on remote control stop working. This has been an ongoing problem for us, beginning less than 1 year after we purchased car new. The dealership replaced swivels on remote and upgraded swivels on remotes. After several times they told us there was nothing else they could do. Have since changed the engineering but now, probably due to the number of times the remote fell on ground because of faulty swivels, the spring for the actual key doesn't work anymore and remote will tilt down sometimes while driving so my wife and 16 year old son have both had their knees hit it and turned the car off while driving it. Thank god they did not have an accident. Went to Volvo and they said this is a wear and tear item and they want $400 to replace 1. Inspite of fact they have tried to fix this multiple times and inspite of the fact they never were able to make it work properly they will not stand behind their product. Now it is dangerous. I am shocked a car touted as "safe" like this one would have this kind of problem and they would not fix it!.
