Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Volvo Xc90. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would pull to the right side. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer crippen Volvo (8300 w. Saginaw hwy, lansing mi) who was unable to duplicate the failure and no repairs were performed. Approximately 1 month later while driving 70 mph the vehicle suddenly pulled hard to the right causing the driver to nearly loose control of the steering. After stopping it was discovered that the front passenger side tie rod ball joint had failed and the wheel was out of it proper position. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer(unknown) who repaired the damaged tie rod. The contact indicated that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA recall campaign number 06v155000(steering) although the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. Also on several occasions the vehicle could not be immediately started and while driving at various speeds the vehicle would suddenly shut off causing the power steering and power brakes to become inoperable. The cause of the failures were not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 130,000. Jft.
