1 Warnings problem of the 2024 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 05/08/2026

The infotainment head unit (ihu) on my 2024 Volvo Xc90 has experienced repeated total system blackouts, spontaneous power-cycles, and critical thermal failures while operating at highway speeds (46–77 mph). The ihu displays a "cooling infotainment system" critical warning and fails completely, resulting in total loss of the federally mandated rearview/backup camera (fmvss 111 violation), gps navigation, and all safety interfaces while in motion. The dealer confirmed the defect and attempted repair twice but only performed software resets rather than hardware replacement. The dealer documented "fixed failed. " failures have continued and worsened after both repair attempts. Video documentation exists for all incidents (exhibits a–h, dated may 2–7, 2026, odometer 41,900–42,151 miles). The vehicle's own diagnostic system issued a critical thermal warning on the driver cluster while navigating traffic, confirming a hardware cooling defect. Two failures occurred during active driving maneuvers including a reverse maneuver and highway operation on I-20, creating immediate safety risk to the driver and public. The component is available for inspection. The defect has been confirmed by the Volvo dealer. A texas lemon law complaint has been filed.

2 Warnings problem of the 2023 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 08/22/2025

The vehicle is subject to NHTSA recall 25v-282 for a rearview camera failure that increases the risk of a crash. First repair attempt (August 15, 2025): a Volvo dealership performed the prescribed software update but failed to fix the safety defect. The vehicle was returned to me in the same unsafe condition. Second repair attempt (August 20, 2025): the dealership identified the root cause as a failed front parking sensor. They refused to cover the repair, classifying it as "physical damage" despite providing no evidence of an external impact. Manufacturer refusal (August 22, 2025): Volvo car USA formally denied my request to have the safety recall completed, improperly claiming the issue was due to "outside influence. " they have refused to honor the recall and their new vehicle warranty. The manufacturer and its dealer have failed to remedy this acknowledged safety defect, leaving me with an unsafe vehicle. The dealership returned the vehicle to my home against my wishes while I was at work.

3 Warnings problem of the 2024 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 07/21/2025

The safety sub system completely stop working periodically. When it occurs: - the blind spot indicators do not light up when a car is in blind spot - turn signals stop making sound. Not sure if they still function - collision system stops making sound. Sometimes stops showing near objects and walls. This has happened about 7 times since purchase of the car, and requires a full computer reboot to fix it. It’s random, so you don’t know it’s failed until driving and something doesn’t work. I don’t have pictures but I have a video of it I can share if someone wants to see some of the issues. It just happened again today, and happens maybe once every couple months.

4 Warnings problem of the 2021 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 07/12/2025

The vehicle’s start/stop system began displaying warning messages and malfunctioning prior to the expiration of the factory warranty. The issue first appeared before 50,000 miles and reappeared at 49,997 miles, when a warning was displayed on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. A diagnostic review confirmed the need to replace the start/stop auxiliary battery and repair the park assist system. A diagnostic fee was charged, and both system failures were documented. The start/stop system’s failure raises a potential safety concern because the vehicle may not reliably restart after automatically stopping at intersections or in traffic. This could lead to dangerous situations if the vehicle stalls unexpectedly or fails to re-engage power at a critical moment. Although the issue has not caused a crash or injury, it introduces unpredictable behavior that could compromise safe operation. The park assist system also failed, triggering system warnings and disabling parking assistance features. If a driver is relying on these systems during low-speed maneuvers, a sudden or silent failure may increase the risk of collision with objects, pedestrians, or other vehicles. The dealership confirmed the problem through inspection and diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was contacted and declined to cover the repairs under warranty, despite the vehicle being within the mileage limit when the issue was first documented and presented for service.

5 Warnings problem of the 2024 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 06/18/2025

While in reverse and in progress of backing out of a parking space, the live video feed of the rear-view camera froze. I did not realize the screen on the dashboard had frozen until I had already backed up several feet. Once I realized the video feed was a frozen, I stepped on the brake. This frozen video feed caused me to briefly back out of my parking spot blind and unaware if the area behind the car was safe. This was the second occurrence of this happening, after already having received a software update several weeks ago at the local Volvo dealership for a different recall notice to address the rear-view camera screen displaying "camera not available" when in reverse.

6 Warnings problem of the 2023 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 04/25/2024

Multiple times when driving the car, all sounds that the car makes will simply stop working. This includes things like the safety features and warning sounds, the turn signals, the radio, any map directions, etc. We have researched online for a solution and found others with similar problems, and we have reported the issue to the dealer on 3 different occasions - they took it into service and told us they did updates to the software, but none of their changes have prevented this from happening again. It is random. Other times, the screens will simply lock up, but the audio still works. Eventually, the system will reset. Sometimes all it takes is turning the car off and back on again, other times we've had to leave it to sit overnight before it is working again. This is clearly a safety issue and also a ridiculous thing to have happen to a car that costs over $70,000.

7 Warnings problem of the 2022 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 09/25/2023

Front sensor not detecting objects when parking. First time the dealership checked it, they said it was operating as designed. The second time, while driving on the freeway, I got a blind spot sensor service required warring error on dashboard. The dealership said that there was a bug residue on the outside sensor.

8 Warnings problem of the 2023 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 09/13/2022

The rearview camera on the Volvo continually freezes, is delayed to start or blacks out. Since I have had the car for the last year there have been multiple times a week where reverse is selected and the rearview camera loads, then when I start backing the camera image freezes two to three times before jumping and resuming normal operation. I've also experienced where the camera image is displayed, then the screen temporarily blacks out for a second and then the image is displayed again. This happen most notably when the car is unlocked and then immediately shifted into reverse. I've brought this into show the repair shop but they state it is normal behavior or they can't replicate the issue (even though I've provided them a video of the issue happening). After a year it's getting very dangerous as backing into tight spaces, a delay or black out can cause me to hit something or someone thinking I'm further away then I really am. When the car is in a deep sleep (not driven for a few days), then the camera can take upwards of 15+ seconds to load after turning on the car and selecting reverse.
