Heated steering wheel burned a whole through leather and caused a burn on my finger. Steering wheel heater no longer works since incident. Heated driver seat no longer works after smelling burning in car. Found melted/burned connector under passenger side seat where the heated seat module is located.

The front seat heaters failed. Prior to failure I noted a medium-strong burning smell, but couldn't identify the source. When I took the vehicle to the dealer they reported that the climate control seat module (ccsm) had melted due to too much current passing through it. They quoted me $1092. 00 to replace the part, which might or might not solve the problem.

Heated front seats not working. The problem with this, is that the connector that attaches to the climate control seat module (ccsm) (which is located under the front passenger seat), overheats to the point that the connector has melted. I believe that this is a fire hazard and Cadillac should look into fixing it. From all the posts on this subject in the Cadillac owner's forums there are alot of owners having the same problem and concerns.
The ground wire on the seat heater control box, (located under the passenger seat), becomes so hot that it melts the insulation on the wire and eventually burns loose from the plug connection. It is a known problem with this car but gm refuses to fix it unless the owner pays for it, (nearly $1,000). I have repaired this myself on 3 separate occasions but it is a design flaw and the problem keeps re-occurring.
The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Escalade. He stated that the passenger rear seat caught fire due to the seat warmer that was activated on its own. He smelled smoke and then noticed the flames. He was able to unplug the seat warmer from underneath the seat; however, there were damages to the seat, pillow and a blanket. The dealer was contacted and they stated that they would give him a call; however, he has not received any response. The dealer also stated that the repair for the failure is covered per the warranty. There have been no repairs. The failure mileage was 104000 and the current mileage was 107000.

We have a 2004 Cadillac Escalade. A few weeks ago the right rear seat warmer caught on fire. We took it to the closest dealership and they bagged it while it was still smoking and put oit back in car and sprayed frebreeze in the car and sent us on our way as if nothing happened at all. They did not even give us something stating we were there. My biggest concern is having it fixed and letting others know so this does not happen to anyone else. Our daughter was asleep on top of two pillows laying on the seat. Now everything is dragging such as all the windows. It is acting up bad. Thank you for your time.
: the contact stated while riding in the passenger seat, the seat heater electrically shocked the passenger resulting in second degree burns to the back. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection who replaced the heating system in the back support of the seat.
The passenger side back seat heater gets so hot you can see the coil imprint in the leather. This concerns me. Will this start a fire?.
While vehicle was running the seat heater overheated, burning a hole in the seat. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
The heat from the rear seat caused the fabric to burn. Taken to dealer for checkup and results showed that there was a shortage in the wiring, which caused the seat to over heat.

While driving my Cadillac Escalade (yr. 2000) to a business meeting the heated driver seat was on and burned through the leather and burned me as well. I had to do an emergency pull off on the shoulder of the road in order to avoid getting burned severely. I almost wrecked my vehicle into oncoming traffic because the heat was so intense that I had to lift by bottom off the seat while driving approximately 35-45 miles per hour. I took my vehicle directly to the dealership to have it looked at and they stated that they have never seen a heated seat get that hot before on any vehicle type. The service department explained that the cause was a short in the heater but a short is supposed to automatically turn of the heater. They estimated the heater got up to 140-150 degrees in order for it to burn the leather seat. I contacted Cadillac to see if there was a recall on the seat and they stated they had no recalls on 2000 Cadillac Escalades for the heated seats. I simply requested for them to cover the cost of replacing the seat but they stated that my warranty and contract did not cover that type of malfunction. Now I am afraid for any of all the other heated seats (passenger and back seats) to be turned on.

There exists a design defect in the 2003 Cadillac Escalade that results in repeated accidental activation of the driver's seat heating system, most critically in the summer, creating a constant burn hazard. The driver's window control button cannot be activated without frequent and repeated accidental activation of the seat heating system because the heating buttons physically block access to the window controls. To lower the window, one's hand must make physical contact with the seat heater activation buttons. For insulin dependent diabetics (such as myself) as well as others who may have a deminished ability to sense abnormal heating, this presents an extremely serious burn harzard.
I was driving with my children in my 2002 Cadillac Escalade and there was a real bad burning smell and smoke coming from my back seat. I looked in the back seat and there was smoke coming from the rear drivers side seat. The heated seats had gotten turned on by accident or turned on by themselves. We pulled over and got the two kids out of there carseats turned the heated seat switch off, waited for the seat to cool off. Thankfully we caught it in time as my children could have been injured. I put in a complaint to Cadillac to file arbitration as my heated seats have been reapired 3 times prior to them melting. Cadillac denied arbitration and told me the dealer will repair it yet again.
While sitting in the vehicle with the seat heater on, consumer noticed smoke coming from under the seat, consumer was able t o pull over and turn the seat heater off. Ts consumer stated the seat contained a burn hole.
