The vehicle is a 2003 Chrysler town and country. When will Chrysler do a recall on power steering lines, pumps, etc. My son is 16 and has only been driving for a few months. He almost lost control of our vehicle because the power steering froze and he couldn't turn! luckily he was Smart enough to just park it, and we had it towed. The power steering lines broke (again) !
the mechanic said there are 173 people on the waiting list for a power steering line. Doesn't this suggest this is a problem? I have had to add power steering fluid to my vehicle since the day I purchased it. I have replaced water pumps, bushings, links, and continue to have problems with the power steering. Will they wait until enough people have died from losing control of their vehicle?
I don't even feel safe having my son take this vehicle is it can happen without any advanced warning! what are they thinking? check out this website - 73 comments on the power steering issue: townhall-talk. Edmunds. Com/direct/view/. F172b27. By the looks of it this has been going on for a while. I am not the only one. . . But if something happens to my son - it will be too late!. The failure date was January 28, 2010.

The vehicle is a 2010 Dodge Challenger. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 2B3CJ7DW9A_. While doing an oil change on my car, I found that the power steering hose was leaking where the hose is crimped to the hard line. After some online searching I found recall 10v475000 related to this same issue with other Chrysler vehicles. According to the recall, Chrysler does not include the build date of my vehicle. I don't understand how my vehicle, which was built only a few months prior to the recall, would not be covered when the issue occurring with my vehicle is identical to the recall. Power steering lines on a 3 year old car should not fail this early. The failure date was Sun., Dec. 22, 2013.

The dealer told me that this is not a recall item. Since this leak could cause a loss of power steering causing an accident, possibly serious, I felt that I should report this problem. Cpsc: i144350a. 2011 Ford F-150. Consumer stated the electric power steering system lost power. The consumer stated while driving, a block of ice fell off a truck that was ahead of him, and evasive action was not possible due to the ice and traffic volume. The ice stuck the alternator which was positioned 10 inches off the ground on the lower left front of the vehicle. Then vehicle then began to lose electrical power . Eventually, the vehicle lost electrical power steering. He was able to pull hard on the steering wheel and was able to steer a slight curve. He then realized he had no brakes, so he shot across the highway, which was usually busy, and he stomped on the emergency brake and came to a stop. The consumer then discovered there was a fire underneath the engine, but quickly put it out with the snow. This electric power assist steering system issue occurred Friday, December 20, 2013.

The car was a 1997 GMC Yukon. Intermitten drop in steering to the right, mostly during corners. About a quarter turn of the steering wheel. Was told to me by a mechanic that gm has known about this and there is only one part from the dealer dealing with it. No aftermarket item. It was told to me that it is a speed sensor on the steering column that governs the speed sensor for the power steering. Durning a turn at almost any speed, the steering drops out a quarter of a turn. Quite a shock to someone doing 60 miles per hour on a busy freeway. This electric power assist steering system problem happened on 01/01/2004.

The car is a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The VIN of this vehicle was 5FNRL38446_. The power steering makes intermittent groaning and screeching noises when the wheel is turned. I've had 2 new power steering pumps installed under warranty with the problem recurring within several thousand miles after repair. I'm scheduled for yet another repair, and think I may have to trade this van for a Hyundai before the warranty expires. The reporting person owns a 2009 Honda Fit. When attempting to start the vehicle she noticed that the electronic power steering warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and the steering column was locked. The car involved was a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. VIN of the vehicle was 5XYZWDLA1D_. Vehicle delivered as new, immediately upon attempting to pump and fill gasoline tank, the pump clicked as full. However, gasoline gauge on dash only would and continues to show 3/4 full. There have been numerous attempts and replacement equipment to address and eradicate this situation and nothing has corrected the situation nor does Hyundai have any answers available to correct this situation. The vehicle has been in my favorite Hyundai service facility for many days and when finally returned the only answer I was given, was that the vehicle is an early production of the model and they have had some of same problem. In addition the electronic steering is a great disappointment as it is quite difficult to keep the vehicle on a true straight pathway no matter what the composition of the pavement. There was some sort of alert from the factory on an adjustment however and was addressed but is still terrible. Then there's an issue on the hitch whereby then trailer prep wiring was included on the invoice, installed by the selling dealer and the servicing dealer feels it not there duty/responsibility to repair it. I have been a Hyundai customer since 2001 as this is a very great disappointment and besides safety issues. These issues must be cleared up ASAP by both the Hyundai manufacturer and straightened out with their dealers. Please ! I would think the manufacturer admitting they know of the problem and cannot solve it they would replace my exact vehicle as I purchased it equipped and take back this one. They know of the problem so just simply replace my vehicle without any charges to me now!. This problem occurred on Monday, December 3, 2012.

2013 Hyundai Elantra. Consumer writes in regards to windshield wiper design failure the consumer stated the wiper blade on the passenger side was very short and the bottom end of the wiper blade left a semi-circular water streak right in front of the person sitting in the passenger seat on every wipe of the blade. Also, there was a spot at the bottom of the windshields where the passenger wiper blade left a short inverted "v" type spot that the driver's wiper blade did not clean which would freeze into in the winter. The consumer stated the steering was too sensitive. The consumer was informed the vehicle has electric steering which may be related to the condition. The steering was so sensitive, that he had to constantly move the wheel left and right just to stay out of the oncoming traffic lane and stay in his lane of traffic. Several times, while driving, in a slight crossing wind with various groups of trees, the level of steering sensitivity forced him to run off the edge of the road to avoid entering the oncoming traffic lane. Also, on a few occasions, the consumer had to hit the brakes harder than normal, but not hard enough to engage the abs. With the electric assisted steering, it was impossible to feel if the vehicle was centered in his lane prior to using the brakes. It was September 1, 2012 when this electric power assist steering system issue occurred.

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1J8GA59197_. I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4dr 4wd that has stalled twice while traveling at highway speeds. The vehicle has less than 6,000 miles and I've reported the problem to the dealer and they say they can't find anything wrong with it. The first occurrence occurred during the day while traveling at approximately 65mph for over an hour. The vehicle cut out, all the dash lights came on, I lost power steering, and within 3 seconds the vehicle "re-started" itself on its own. The second occurrence occurred several months later while traveling at 70mph for over an hour. The incident occurred at night and the same thing happened. All the sudden the engine cut out, I lost headlights, and within 3 seconds the vehicle came back on and everything was fine. Again, I reported to the dealer, at they couldn't find anything. This issue happened on Friday, April 20, 2007.

The VIN of the car is 1J8GA39177_. I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited x, automatic with 10,500 miles. I was traveling down an on ramp going about 40mph, light on the throttle and the Jeep hesitated, all of the gauges (speedometer, etc) shut off (showed 0), then all of the dash lights came on. During that 2 second period, I had no power steering, brakes or control over the throttle of the Jeep. This could have been much worse. I know there is a recall that covers this, but my Jeep falls out of the production date to get it taken care of. The "build" date is Feb. Of 2007. I am not the only one with the problem and the current recall is not taking care of this issue. This needs to be address before someone (like my family) gets seriously hurt. My 2003 Land Rover Range Rover hse had a failure of the front differential spilnes, axle shaft, differential unit and drive shaft which caused total loss of vehicle propulsion at 60 miles per hour on a busy highway during rush hour traffic. The vehicle had to be towed to Land Rover north scottsdale where it still sits because neither the extended warranty company nor the Land Rover dealership will claim responsibility for the repairs which are in excess of $4,000. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was SALNY222X2_. I purchased a new 2002 Land Rover Freelander from Land Rover new orleans (paretti) on August 19, 2002. Since that time, the vehicle has had continuous problems. The power steering, transmission, transfer case (2), ird unit (2), front drive shaft, manifold chamber and other items have been replaced and the brake pads (2) have had to be changed. The vehicle only has 35,498 miles. After reviewing edmunds. Com and other consumer resource sites, it appears that the problems that I encountered have also been encountered by others purchasing this vehicle. I have had 23 warranty claims on this vehicle and Land Rover north America, inc. , as of January 2005, has paid in excess of $11,994. 55 for repairs on a vehicle that had a purchase price of $30,603. 77. The aforementioned amount does not include the costs of replacing the transfer case, ird unit, front drive shaft and manifold chamber in April 2005 or the replacement of the sun roof assembly in June 2005. The car was a 2003 Lincoln Town Car. The VIN of this vehicle was 1LNHM84W53_. When vehicle engine is running and turn signals are actuated, the digital dash, turn signals, and air conditioner cuts off. Additionally, steering effort increases substantially, abs cycles off and back on when the power is restored. The duration may be momentary (less than 5 seconds) or last for a minute or longer. Frequency is 80+ percent of the time when the turn signals are engaged (left or right). I have had another Ford vehicle which gave problems with this multi-function switch also. Ford has a poorly designed turn signal-windshield wiper-washer switch compounded by the fact power is shunted through this switch all the time, causing overheating and premature failures. I am writing to report an electric power steering safety defect with my 2011 Toyota Corolla le. I purchased the car new and noticed, during my first trip on the interstate highway, it was difficult to maintain center lane because the vehicle would drift from side to side and the faster the vehicle speed the more pronounced the drift became. Road smoothness did not seem to make any difference. I assumed that since this is my first vehicle with electric power steering it must just take me some getting accustomed to driving it. Having driven it for 18 months, in varied weather and road conditions, I am now convinced it is a safety defect as it causes me much fatigue to drive it at highway speeds for more than approximately 45 minutes due to constant steering inputs required just to keep the vehicle in the lane. On 3 December 2012 I presented the vehicle to my Toyota dealer for warranty repair and was denied for the following reason "test drove vehicle. High winds and poor street conditions seem to have more affect on smaller vehicles than larger heavier ones. Checked alignment in spec and tire pressures are good as well. " the test drive was less than 10 miles in duration. This electric power assist steering system issue occurred Friday, August 19, 2011.

The vehicle is a 2004 BMW Z4. The steering wheel gets stuck while driving and car doesn't stay in lane infact needs constant significant adjustments to keep it from accidentally getting into another lane. The issue has occurred multiple times and was an inconvenience so I didn't pay a lot of attention but it's more like a safety issue now with controlling the car becoming more and more difficult on freeways. Nhtsa has identified this issue pe10020 as not significant and I sincerely hope they investigate it further and take some serious action before it causes irreparable loss. BMW needs to own up to a manufacturing defect as its not wear and tear and fix this. The failure date was Jun. 14, 2012.

The vehicle is a 2002 Cadillac Escalade ext. I am currently having a re-occuring problem with the stability track. I have had it serviced four times now to no avail. Each time I take it in they tell me it is a computer problem, and that it just need to be reset. I have yet to have an accident, but today I almost did. While going to the curb entering the freeway the steering went crazy and the service stability track notice appeared. After I entered the highway the vehicle still was jerking uncontrolable. I turned of the stability trac button in hopes of gaining control. The vehicle still noted the problem even after being turned off. I again have taken to the dealership in woodland who stated it had to be my 22" wheels. But, I find this highly unlikely since the dealership originally offered it to me upon buying and I had this problem three times before with the original 17' tires. I do maintain a record of all services and I have a copy of when I purchased the wheels, which was not until recently. This is the second Escalade from gm the first one was declared a lemon and this one appears to be turning out to be one also. It was Fri., Jul. 15, 2005 when this electric power assist steering system issue occurred.
