car   Rear Window Defogger problem of Ford F-150

The car is a 2010 Ford F-150. While I was driving I turned my rear defroster on and about 5 min later I heard a load bang, looked around to see what it was and saw the passenger portion of the rear window was completely shattered. There was no impact on the window are clue to why it shattered. So I looked online and found this to be a common issue with the 2010 f150 trucks with power rear sliders. My daughter's car seat is directly under that window! Ford denied any knowledge of this issue and insisted they were not responsible and wouldn't cover repairs. I then learned that Ford has changed the wiring design for this window, a design that keeps electrical surges from over heating the defroster. My concern is that a shattering window poses a huge safety issue and Ford should be held accountable for their failure to keep their customers and more importantly the children of those customers safe!. This problem occurred on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013.

car   Rear Window Defogger problem of Mercury Sable

The vehicle having this issue was a 2002 Mercury Sable. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 1MEFM58U02_. Wire harness failure in rubber boots from body of car to rear lift gate on station wagon model. Insulation cracking and wire breaking completely in flexible rubber boot causes erratic behavior and ultimate failure of high brake light, back up lights, license plate lights, rear windshield wiper, rear window defroster, open lift gate and open rear window safety sensors and stereo speakers. Insulation and wiring within boot has become brittle and fatigued. Clean breaks in wires from opening and closing lift gate are evident. Wires where insulation has broken through are coming in contact with other circuits where that insulation has broken through and results in "confusing" operation of lights. Ie put car in reverse and high brake light comes on - put foot on brake and high brake light goes out. Backup lights don't come on at all. Ie turn on rear windshield wiper and license plate light comes on. Wiring does not appear to have sufficient number of multiple internal copper strands or supple enough insulation to provide needed flexibility during regular opening and closing of rear lift gate. Believe this to be a latent safety defect. Manufacturer should have known during design that wiring in boot to station wagon lift gate would be prone to catastrophic failure with regular use. This problem occurred on Wednesday, May. 2, 2012.

They further stated that it was due to a manufacturer defect. The vehicle is currently being repaired by a local repair shop at the cost of $500. The dealer has not been notified. The contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 17,800 and current mileage was 18,175. Updated 12/17/08. car   Rear Window Defogger problem of Suzuki Forenza

I bought a 2005 Suzuki Forenza in the winter of 2006. The car was sold to me with no rear defroster system so that winter I had to go through the snow with a completely blind rear view and was inconvenienced into returning it for repair. The beginning of 2008 is when the check engine light came on a week before my state inspection and I had to get an oxygen sensor replaced. Two weeks later, the tread came off my front tires (2 years old mind you) and I had to replace those. In may of 2008, the battery in the car died and that had to be replaced. In August of 2008, the headlights in the Suzuki died and had to be replaced. I have all the receipts and documents to back this up as well. On April 30, 2009, my car started to buck back and forth wildly threatening to stall. Two weeks later on may 13, they tell me that the car is covered under the power warranty and they will replace the head gasket. On Friday may 15, they say its not just the head gasket but an emission hose needs to be replaced. They do not have the part in stock and have ordered it for Monday, may 18 in which the car should be ready. I return my rental car ready to pick up my car when I get a call that Monday morning stating that when the car's engine was put back together, the check engine light still came on and they disassembled the engine again and discovered a hole in the cylinder head which had compromised the coolant system. Now, this is not under warranty and I would have to provide proof that I had changed the coolant in the system. Of course, I can not locate that receipt, but its amazing to me that its taken nearly a month to come up with this diagnosis and now I'm being asked to pay for this lemon with only 3 years on it and 35,000 miles. I took a 4 year finance loan deal on this and I still have to pay $5000 on a car that has needed work on multiple location. Whatever happened to standing by your work? thomas Suzuki of port jefferson NY is a disgrace. It was Thu., Apr. 30, 2009 when this rear window defogger issue occurred.

The car involved was a 2005 Volkswagen new Jetta. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 3VWSF71K65_. The fuse for the rear window defroster melted into the fuse box. I called vw and they informed me that when they manufactured the vehicle they placed a 25 amp fuse in the fuse box and it should be changed to a 30 amp. They informed me that I can do this myself since there was a technical service bulletin placed on this. I told them there was no way that I can get the fuse out since it is melted into the fuse box, and they informed me that I would have to pay to have the fuse box replaced. I do not understand how I am responsible for something that I never did. I cannot use my rear window defroster, heated seats and my heated windshield washers don't even work. I have went the rounds with Volkswagen and they stick to telling me that I am responsible for the costs in replacing the fuse box. Its like they are telling me that I built the car and I placed the wrong fuse. If I did build the car and place the wrong fuse in the car I would pay for the damages associated with this, but I did not build it vw built it and I feel they need to take responsibility for placing the wrong fuse in the fuse box. The failure date was Nov. 29, 2007.
