This problem has occurred 3 times in less than a month. Vehicle is parked. One head light out, depending which time this has happened. Vehicle will not turn over but all electrical comes on and stays on. Dash board messages include: "service transmission continue in d. Do not shift or turn engine off", until you reach a desired location you may not be able to shift again until serviced, service stabilitrack or something along those lines, and "key fob not found" even though key fob is in car. Shifter continuously blinks and a constant dinging as if a key was left in an ignition. You cannot move shifter out of park. All electrical components stay on and will not shut off. Car has acted like it doesn't want to start but ends up turning over slowly, a few times before these problems started. This issue started at around 5250 miles (but restarted after 15 mins), then again two days later at 5300 miles (got it to restart after at least 30 mins) took into dealership and that's when Dodge replaced the shifter after having the car for a week. Again the issue has occurred at 5857 miles. Moved car out of garage, noticed one head light out, and I knew I had to try and restart it from previous issues. Sure enough, it would not turn over but all electrical came on and stayed on. Had to have the vehicle towed back to dealership with malfunctioning electrical still on. Battery had died by the time the dealership service team looked at it.

Vehicle is a 6 cyl. Used police package unit with 107,200 miles. On several occasions, vehicle has "shut off" while driving requiring putting vehicle in neutral and restarting engine while pulling to a safe location without power steering or power brakes. The key automatically turned to the "off" position each time, causing the engine to shut off. Also, key could not be removed and while in the off position, all accessories still worked. Finally was able to remove key and took vehicle to dealership. Service advisor could not remove key. Appointment made to check problem (1st one 4 days later), and when home, had to disconnect battery to shut off everything. Only other recall is for the takata airbag replacement where parts are still not available after almost a year. Very dangerous with vehicle shutting off while driving, particularily for a novice or insecure driver. Frustating and unsafe to have to leave key in vehicle and having high dollar battery go dead. . . Just replaced it last month for $215. 00. . .

I started having issues with my car starting for months. In March I took it to a mechanic he said my ignition switch was going bad and I needed to replace it. So I ordered the part and then found out about the recall. A few weeks later my car wouldn't start and after trying for a bit the battery died. I towed it to a Dodge dealership told them a mechanic said I needed a new ignition switch they ran a full diagnostic and said everything was fine it was just the battery. I paid for a battery & diagnostic and went on my way. A few days later car wouldn't start at the store. I took my car to a different Dodge dealership told them the issues I was having & that it might be the ignition switch they ran a diagnostic said they think it was a relay switch so they replaced that. They said if it still had problems starting it would be the ignition switch going bad. A couple weeks later I'm at the gas station car won't start. I called the Dodge dealership I took it to the last time they told me to bring the car back so they can run another diagnostic. I called the corporate # explained what was happening told them I need a new ignition switch but no parts are being manufactured so I cant get it fixed and they are trying to tell me it's not the ignition switch that is the problem. I have been stranding countless times all I want is a working part for my car and they are all giving me the run around. My car has problems starting every couple of days sometime a couple times a day. They have no solutions and I need a working car.

On my daily routine home, out of the blue, my esc light comes on. Immediately im concerned and notice some loss of power. No less than a minute later my abs light comes on as well! so I pull over and shut off the car and then then cut it back on, no luck. The car starts but the engine won't cut on and both lights are still on. So I cut it off again and wait a few then attempt to cut it on again and it gets worse! the car reads "no key detected" and then completely shuts off. So I immediately assume the battery is dead and call my brother for a jump. He comes and jumps me and no success. The driver info still reads "no key detected". So now im left wondering what's gone wrong. I had it towed to the dealership for service and and notice that this vehicle has already been serviced for an esc/abs light recall back in may of 2012. So this leads me to believe that this is a serious electrical issue. Like some other owners I too also have a burnt out passenger side headlights wiring and definitely expressed my concerns if that could be causing an uneven power distribution. Its so disappointing. This is the second time in 3 months my car has been brought in for major service. Frankly I no longer feel confident behind the wheel of my vehicle. Winter is fast approaching and don't want to get stuck on the side of the road with no power and no heat. Minor issues are one thing but major issues on a late model car is alarming. Im certainly not happy and really am at the tipping point of surrendering this vehicle. At this point what else am I to do?!.
Every 3 months since purchasing the car the battery will be dead. When I have battery checked will test good. Put battery back on and will last 3 more months and then dead again! ever since purchasing vehicle in June 2013. Battery saver mode comes on message screen regularly. Whenever battery saver mode is on message screen am not able to use radio or other items on 8. 4 inch radio/nav/phone screen. . . When accelerating at light, car hesitates when pushing gas pedal and then when is pushed a little further car lunges, not smooth acceleration. Always starts out slow and smooth then hesitates (seems like going to stall) then lunges.
I purchase my car 9 months ago never had a problem until I took it to a dealer to get the 2 recalls fix after a week my car wouldn't turn on call them the steering wheel light show up engine light and abs too said it was the battery that dead but they charge and it was fine week later my car steering wheel lock couldn't brake because got lock too call the dealer show same lights steering abs engine lights too now they saying my hd lights was the cause for the computer to mess up call the guy who install them explain to them couldn't been the lightshe install a rely which does has any contact the cable with the computer they told me will late me know the next day still waiting for them to call me also a friend had problem too with the computer dealer try to charge him he got a lawyer dealer end up paying for everything they want to charge me 2700 for something that is not my problem hd lights been on my car for 9 months got them same day I purchase my car never had a problem until dealer put hands on it I ask different locations that put hd lights for cars like mines they said if the hd lights were install wrong it takes 3 to a week for the computer to shot down lock everything on the car no way to drive it but my car doesn't do that it turn ons only problem the steering wheel locks and brakes too sometimes wont turn on but it takes an hour and it turns but same problem the car already had a electrical problem is just dealer doesn't want to paid and looks for any excuse to make customer paid but im right everything is on file plus got proof too people that has experience on light all said same to me.
I turned my ignition key to start the vehicle and heard an explosion in the rear of the vehicle. I opened my trunk with the key because the vehicle lost all electrical power. I discovered that the battery had exploded and sprayed battery acid in the trunk area. The trunk was filled with white smoke and smelled like chemicals. My property inside the passenger compartment also had a strong chemical odor to it. After looking at the battery, it appeared to have exploded from the rear and the main thing that kept it from sending acid soaked debris was the nylon strap that holds the battery in place. I am worried that the entire interior of my vehicle is now coated with acid fumes/powder from the explosion. I spoke with huntington beach Dodge and they said I was responsible for all costs of repairs because the battery only has a 12 month/12k mile warranty. I understand that a battery goes dead, but I do not understand a battery exploding! my 2 children were not in the back seat at the time of the explosion, but what could have been the injury to my kids if they were there? battery acid in the face and eyes, acid soaked debris striking them or hearing loss from the explosion? I don't feel comfortable with driving the vehicle or having my children in it. Mcpeek Dodge in anaheim replaced the battery and cleaned the trunk at a cost of $250. 00 (20% discount they said), but stated that they were unable to determine the reason for the incident.
