As I was driving my vehicle it compltely shut down while in motion with no warning, causing steering & brakes to loose power, thankfully I was able to coast into turning with great effort. Vehicle would not restart required towing to shop. After inspection, I was told I needed a new engine and upon research found that due to the placement of the water pump, water was most likely going into my oil which goes into the engine causing it to cease up @ only 134,000 miles.

After researching, Ford has installed faulty water pumps in this car along with others that have the 3. 5 ecoboost engine. Water pump failed on me and since the water pump is inside the engine you dont really know when it is going to give out. Leaking of the coolant on the highway. My mechanic warned me that this failure could lead to coolant leaking into the engine which would result in the need of a new engine. Ford needs to recall this!.

While driving the car. It was noticed that the vehicle was putting out cool air only when the heat was engaged. It would eventually warm a bit but would return to blowing cool air only. When the vehicle was taken to a mechanic, it was explained that the problem was the water pump. We were told that the design of the vehicle requires the engine to be removed to get to the pump and the cost of the repair would be in excess of $2000. The vehicle cannot be driven in order to prevent further damage.

2015 Ford Taurus under 93,000 water pump failure. No warnings while driving on the highway. Started to over heat and coolant was poring out underneath. Had it towed to a Ford dealership and was told the water pump needs replaced. Over $2000 dollars for this fix. The water pump should last until 150,000. Ford knew it was an issue and needs to step up and fix it. Currently still in garage trying to figure out what I'm going to do.
I was driving 55 mph with a truck close behind, when it just died. I had no power steering, brakes, etc. I was scared to death thinking I was going to be hit by the truck behind me. I was in a curve, and thankfully there was a store. It took all my strength to turn the car in, and somehow I was able to come to a stop. I had no warning, no light came on and my son came to see what was wrong. He said it was overheating. We had it towed home and when he checked it the oil was creamy , whitish. He had never seen anything like it. We researched it, and found numerous complaints about the cyclone engine failure due to the water pump failing, which is inside the engine along with the timing chain!!! I was shocked! water pumps go bad, everyone knows that. Why would any company put a water pump inside the motor?!?! I never would have bought it if I had known because it is just wrong. Then I found out Ford had been using that engine for over 10 years, even with all the complaints and I wonder how many accidents and injuries and deaths have been caused by this. I could have been killed!!!! why is there no recall? I can't afford to have a new engine put in, I'm 63 and disabled. I don't know what I am going to do. With all the catastrophic engine failures due to this, I am shocked that Ford has not helped us out. They must have a lot of lawsuits. Please help if you can, I am sick about it.

Driving down the road and all of a sudden the car indicated it was overheating. So I pulled over and seen that the car was spewing coolant everywhere. From further trouble shooting I found out that the water pump was bad and that it was going to cost me over $2000. The water pump should not be going out like that when I only just hit over 80,000 miles. Ford needs to recall these water pumps they put on these Tauruss.

Vehicle in motion, temperature gauge begins rising rapidly, in less than a minute at top of scale. . . . Pulled to side of highway, restarted to move over further. . . . . All lights lit up and steam coming from inside engine. Water pump failed without warning and dumped coolant in engine which destroyed bearings. Catastrophic engine failure with no warning.
While traveling through a red light on a state route, I began to accelerate. All dash lights came on. Engine sounded choked. Vehicle then would not accelerate traveling up hill. Forcing me to pull over immediately. After being towed to a Ford dealership for repairs, was advised the engine needed replaced. Dealership service stated the water pump failed releasing coolant into the engine, damaging the engine permanently. Traveling this roadway is usually a semi route to a major highway and factories. Semis do not slow down or stop as quickly as a car and could have caused a fatal accident do to the abrupt pull over that was necessary due to the malfunction.

While driving through the city, the vehicle suddenly overheated, with little to no warning it gave me a over temperature warning, which prompted me to pull over and turn off the vehicle. After parking the vehicle I notices large amounts of coolant being spewed from the pressure relief. After replacing the thermostat on the vehicle, it continued to leak coolant, although it was difficult to identify where the leak was. After 3 weeks and some testing, the dealership was able to find a leak in the water pump. Had the leak not been found, there could have been serious overheating issues. Based on what I saw with how quickly the car overheated with and ambient outside air temperature of about f it's a wonder no Ford Taurus' has started on fire.
While driving the car we lost heat and the car overheated. We stopped the car to ensure it would not be damaged and let it cool off. We were close enough to home to bring the car there. We brought the car to local mechanic who showed me there was coolant in the oil. I asked how could this happen? is there are crack in the block or the heads? he informed me that this model of engine has water pump failures that leak coolant into the oil. Because of the damage that this causes it would require a new motor. I have asked that the mechanic take pictures of this for evidence of this issue which I will receive when the car is finished.
My Taurus just died on me, it overheated and I was stuck in the middle of traffic. I was only a few blocks from my home so I let the car cool as the manual says to do and then started it again. Got to my house shut it off and then find out that from driving the car it caused the antifreeze to mix with the oil and now I have a bad engine. This all because they put a water pump in an engine. Knowing this they tell you in the manual you can drive the car when it's cooled and put water in it if needed. This will ruin your engine!.
The water pump damaged the engine on my 2010 Taurus brought it to a Ford dealer now dealer told me I need a new engine with a cost of $5000. 00 plus labor ,water pump is inside the engine . When water pump goes it starts leaking into engine. Needing to engine to be replace I think this stupid ass design by Ford . I was driving when this happen in the middle of the road.
My car has 86,621 miles and the thermostat light came on. I took to my mechanic and they told me that there is leaking around the water pump and it has to be replaced. I had it diagnosed at a Ford dealership and they agreed. It is not under warranty because of miles and it is going to cost $1900 to replace. I take very good care of my car and have all of the service records. It is a defect in the water pump and that is why it failed.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the check engine waring indicator illuminated and the temperature gauge moved to hot. The contact pulled to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. The contact open the hood and noticed that it was leaking coolant at the water pump. The vehicle was towed the dealer where it was diagnosed that the water pump needed replacement. The vehicle was towed home and then to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000. The VIN was not available.
Vehicle has 48,000 miles and had freezer plug and water pump failure. Ford was backordered by over 300 units of water pump. Vehicle was in hawaii for first year and in seattle / tacoma area since. I feel that at this mileage, along with the amount of water pumps that were on order from Ford motor that their is a defect with the water pumps and a recall should be looked into.
Tl-the contact 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the coolant warning light illuminated, and coolant leaking from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the coolant was leaking from the freeze plug and water pump, and both needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 82,000. Mf.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Taurus. While driving 65 mph, the air conditioner became inoperable and the antifreeze leaked without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
2003 Ford Taurus with only 46,000 miles on it and the water pump has had to be replaced twice. Also, the brake pads on the vehicle have had to be replaced at least three times and the mechanic told us that the pads on the Taurus are cheap and will erode quicker than on other vehicles. Lastly, the vehicle does not get good gas mileage as expected. Next car will be a Honda.

No heat. Took our 1998 Ford Taurus 6cyl. ,3. 0l,182fi vehicle to dealer with complaint of no heat. I am told from the Ford service advisor that there is rust in the coolant system caused by a metal allergy reaction from the water pump impeller blade and the antifreeze coolant in the system which cause rust the inside of the engine, freeze plugs, heater core, thermostat and eventually cause the engine to overheat/breakdown due to lack of water/coolant circulation. Ford answer: replace water pump with upgraded water pump, flush system with anti-rust chemicals, replace freeze plugs, replace heater core, hoses, thermostat and refill with anti-freeze coolant at a cost of @ $1700. 00. This vehicle has had regular maintenance on it since I've own it 10/1999, ie. Oil changes @5000k mi. , coolant flush @1/yr. , brakes & tires check/service @5000k mi. I believe Ford knows of this problem or they wouldn't have upgraded the water pump to correct the problem. And I believe Ford should take care of the replacement of this defective part and related components.

To whom it may concern. I bought a Ford Taurus 1996 from venuns Ford in milwaukee wisconsin. I have only had this car for seven months and the gas pedal was sticking and taking off very fast and shifting its gears. The motor was rumbling and shaking. I had to repair the axles of the car. I had to take it back every month because of the engine. The water pump over heated and the gas pedal is still sticking and taking off very fast today. Also the dealer is trying to take away the warranty so they wouldn't have to pay for the repairs. I asked the dealer to take a federal investigation but they refused. I asked for an even exchange for a different car but they wanted me to pay for this car and the other if I got one. Urgently respond to my complaint.

Vehicle was manufactured with copper colored antifreeze, due to this the coolant rusted out the freeze plugs, water pump, and thermostat.
