2 Seats problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

For some weeks, the driver’s heated seat began to heat to excessive temperatures without me turning on the seat warmer. The seat heating system intermittently reaches temperatures high enough to cause painful burn-type irritation to my back and buttocks. I have experienced repeated episodes where normal seat heating settings produced dangerously high heat. I returned the vehicle multiple times to townsend Honda for diagnosis and repair (repair orders are on file with the dealer and with Honda corporate). Despite multiple service visits, the dealership has been unable to permanently resolve the overheating condition. On 09162025 and 09222025 repairs or diagnostics were attempted but the defect persists. Honda corporate has since opened case #15869482 for further review but I have not heard from Honda corporate till now.

8 Seats problem of the 2020 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

I received a notice in March 2024 regarding a recall for my 20 crv involving a seat weight sensor circuit board. I contacted my local Honda dealer, serra ,Honda grand blanc, michigan to inquire about obtaining a time to service the recall. I was told at that time that they did not have the parts available and to call back in the fall to schedule. I spoke to the same dealership on September 27, 2024 and was told that they did not have the parts and had no idea when they would arrive. They continued to state Honda offers vague communication on when the parts will be available. This is unacceptable and is a definite safety issue.

9 Seats problem of the 2020 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/01/2024

Nhtsa recall number -24v-064 - in the event of an accident front passenger frontal and knee airbags deployment. Safety risk. I contacted Honda to resolve this issue yet I am unable to do so I was informed that to date no replacements parts are available to resolve this safety issue. They were unable to to provide a date for delivery of the replacement parts. I am following the safety precautions as I do not want an injury to occur in my vehicle. Is there a timeframe for the Honda to resolve this safety issue?.

10 Seats problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/23/2023

2017 Honda crv, mileage on 1 Dec 2023 (44498). The passenger air bag warning light fails to to 'off' when a 112 pound person sits on the front seat. Auto dealer inspected the device on Dec 1, 2023 and re-initialized the seat weight sensor to factory parameters and advised it now tests ok. During Jan - June 2024, the warning light began to operate improperly. Auto dealer inspected the system on August 24 and determined the passenger front seat weight sensor reading was inaccurate and advised the entire seat frame with weight sensors be replaced. Returned to the auto dealer on June 18 to have the entire seat and weight sensors replaced to correct the issue. Current mileage: 48692 on June 24, 2024. Cost to customer: parts & labor: $1558. 78 the vehicle is not covered by a factory warranty, however, it would seem that an issue with an air bag should be considered as a recall, since the only person using the car was the driver, since we had no confidence that the passenger air bag system would work if there was an incident that required it to be deployed. We have to use a second vehicle whenever we travel with more that one person in the car.

11 Seats problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/03/2023

I have 2017 Honda crv. I observed that my driver sear cushion is deformed. I took my vehicle to Honda dealer they inspected and said my cushion is deformed and airbag is loose. I called Honda and they said they will investigate the issue, they investigated the issue and came back with comments that seat frame is bent and due to vehicle is outside warranty they can’t repair it. I checked online and found that people reported same issue in 2017 and Honda fixed those issues. . Read more...

12 Seats problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/21/2023

The lever on my back right seat will not release seat down. Needed to put a large item in my car and ended up having to tie it to the roof instead and drive very slowly on the interstate since my seat would not go down. Did not feel safe and want to get this figured out ASAP since I am a furniture dealer. I popped the plastic "cap" off to see what is causing the issue. . . Part of the white plastic piece of the upper lever has snapped off and that is causing the lever to not catch and seat not go down. I have not taken it anywhere yet as I can see what the problem is and believe those plastic parts are not sold separately so I suspect I need a whole new lever. There were zero warning signs or messages, lever just did not release starting a couple days ago. Thanks.

17 Seats problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/03/2023

My friend reached under the driver seat and felt a bolt under it. Turns out, it was one of the 4 bolts that holds the seats frame to the car. This was the right front bolt and it completely fell out! I checked the other 3 bolts still in, but the left front was also significantly loose! I had to get an allen wrench and bolt them back in and tighten them! the passenger seat bolts were still in but also very loose! this is dangerous if I was in an accident my front seat bolts weren't tight and one was completely out, only holding the seat in 3 of 4 places!.

18 Seats problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/28/2022

The back two bolts in the driver seat were never installed at the factory, thus the back of the seat is not attached to the car. The dealership did not notice on the pdi. I drive it for a month before I noticed it.

23 Seats problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/30/2021

When I put my child’s car set in the middle, or anyone sitting in my back middle seat the person sitting on the left hand side can not buckle there seat belt because the way that the buckles are put in it has to cross over the buckle for the middle seat. I brought it to the dealership they said there is nothing they can do to fix it that’s how all the models are made. It’s not safe and not convenient. I only realized this recently when I had my most recent child and actually needed to use all 3 seats with car seats.

24 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/30/2021

This is an intermittent problem. The electric driver seat adjusts on its own--this vehicle does not have 1 or 2 position memory option. Several times when the car has been driven and parked (such as at a store, or overnight in the driveway) when returning to the vehicle the seat is in a different position, having moved itself completely forward. This has happened when the car is not running and is not in accessory mode. Yesterday while the car was running, but not yet moving, the seat adjusted itself completely forward, pinning my husband to the steering wheel. The pressure was so great that he could not breathe. It was extremely difficult for him to reach the seat adjustment button to free himself. This could have been a fatal incident if no one was nearby to assist. This is certainly a safety issue!! there were no warning lamps or messages displayed at any time indicating a problem of any kind. The vehicle has not yet been checked for this specific issue, however it had been through a routine service and dealer safety inspection one week prior to the incident. The dealer is unable to service the vehicle until 7/13/2021. I have an appointment scheduled for that day.

29 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda CR-V

After turning on the heated driver's seat switch, I began to smell burnt plastic. Didn't expect that turning on the heated seat might start a fire. This occurred while driving.

30 Seats problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

I was in a rear end collision. The driver seat did not stay upright. Upon impact it reclined. My car was in motion when it was hit, approx 20 mph. This probably caused my injuries to be worse than if the seat had maintained it's upright position.

31 Seats problem of the 2014 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

Noticed one day that passenger seat had burn marks. Have smelt on occasion what seemed to be burning smells in the past. Don’t use the seat heater there since that was noticed. This is a danger.

32 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/27/2019

Seats have severe vibration at idle. Most pronounced after warming up, or, highway drive. (that's why test drives don't show it!). Also, door armrests vibrate. Most intolerable; makes one nauseated. Also, gas mixed in with oil! gas fume smells noted in cabin while driving.

33 Seats problem of the 2002 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/28/2019

A state safety inspector advised that the driver's side seat is coming loose and could completely break loose in an accident. He said if it gets any looser it will not pass a safety inspection (virginia). I have owned cars for over forty years and have never heard of a car seat that wasn't secured to the body of the car for the life of the car. This specific defect, relating to Honda crv's is broadly reported on the internet. Should a car seat potentially breaking loose in an accident not be subject to a recall?.

34 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/30/2019

The 12 position electric drivers seat adjust by it self. This vehicle does not have driver 1 or 2 memory seats. After the driver seat is adjusted the car is driven and parked. Upon returning to the vehicle the back of the drivers seat will be in a different position than it was when I exited the vehicle. This is intermittent issue and happens maybe every 3 or 4th time in the past year. On two separate occasions after entering the vehicle and starting the vehicle, the back of the drivers seat will adjust forward pushing the driver forward towards the steering wheel. This is a concern especially if it were to happen while driving down the highway.

35 Seats problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/23/2019

My car was in park. The plastic trim piece that houses the controls for the seat, on the drivers side, has a trim piece that curves around to the front of the seat about 4-5". This trim piece caught my pant leg on my exit from the car and I fell out of the car onto the ground. The first time it happened was Dec. 21st 2018, my body was sore for 2 days. I called Honda and they had me go to my local Honda dealer and have the trim piece replaced. 2 times now this trim piece has caught my pant leg on my exit from the car and I have fallen out of the car on to the ground. The second time the trim piece caught my pant leg was on January 23rd. 2019 and I fell out of the car on to the ground, wrenching my left shoulder, left hip and skinning my left knee. I have called Honda both times and made a report. I do have a case #, but they are closed today so I will get the case # on Monday. . I am sending 4 pictures the first 3 are driver side trim piece that is sticking out and the last one is passenger side trim piece that is nice and tucked in. Big difference!!.
