2 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/28/2019

I recently purchased this car used. After driving it for a little while, the car started shaking every time I would try to accelerate, but would get smooth once I got up to speed. After a few stop and go, the car decided to go into limp mode. I managed to get the car home safely, but barely. Now it drives smooth for a few minutes and then the extreme shaking returns. It only happens when the car is in drive, and stops after I shift it out. After doing some research online, I found that the transmission in the 07 Nissan Murano is notorious for failing. Nissan actually extended the warranty to 10 years/ 120,000 miles. But if you cannot get it fixed within that time your stuck, because they are so bad no transmission shop would work on them. Every forum related to Muranos just rants about how bad the transmission is. Nissan should be responsible for putting faulty transmissions in so many vehicles, I am scared to imagine what would happen if it failed on the highway while at speed.

4 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2015 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

When accelerating from a stop or at low speed, transmission judders and causes the car to lunge and vibrate till it gets to a higher rpm. At a certain rpm, the car can simple lug repeatedly if the speed is held constant. The car stores an error code and the fix per the dealer is to rebuild the transmission. My vehicle has this issue at only 39,200 miles. While Nissan created a service bulletin for this issue, and was repaired under warranty, a repair this major should be a recall because of how expensive it would be to repair out of warranty. Based on the repair order I was provided, this would've cost over $1,600 for parts alone, and the dealer needed to keep the car for a full week. . Read more...

6 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/24/2018

We first started having issues with the ignition coils and spark plug going bad, causing our car to stop and shake. Had them replaced and a month later the car started making an ungodly rattle noise. Almost like a loud fan type noise. It gets louder the more you drive it. The several different shops that looked at it. All said the same thing, the lifters needed to be replaced and fast. And said unfortunately it was just a matter of time. Before my axle and navigation system went out mid drive. And I should contact you because this was Nissan issue to fix. And that we need to get rid of this death trap. Before it killed me and our family.

8 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2012 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/07/2017

Vehicle had less than 70000 when cvt transmission started to fail. While driving vehicle would shudder, and at time engine would rev at 4000 rpm. Vehicle is still driveable at this time, but is slow to accelerate, and shudders at times. We do not drive the vehicle on the highway any longer for fear the transmission would completely stop working. Was inspected at Nissan dealership and by independent mechanic and both confirm that transmission codes indicate cvt transmission is failing. This is the same issue that the Nissan Murano transmission had in the past which led to a recall which covered model years from 2003 to 2010.

Car hesitates when accelerating causing a danger when car does not go as expected when pulling into traffic. It has been a problem since I bought the car and have complained to the dealership numerous times.

13 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/14/2011

I felt a vibration coming from my 2007 Nissan Murano and I took it to the dealer and they said they didn't feel it. Took it back a second time and they said that they had overserviced the cvt(transmission) at a prior service interval. They said they reset the fluid level. Took the car and it still vibrated. . . A week later I was pondering how to file a comlaint. Today I was heading to the airport when the car completely lost all power to the cvt. I was entering the highway and I felt the engine just rev up and the car wasn't moving forward with my foot on the gas pedal. A car almost slammed me in the rear end and I pulled over to the side of the road and called a tow truck and towed the car to the dealer. The dealership failed to recognize that the cvt should have been replaced and that there is also a recall on the cvt. This put me and anyone who was in my car in a dangerous situation where it could have ended up tragically if someone had hit me on the driver side if I was making a left turn and my car lost power.

14 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/26/2006

I own a 2003 Nissan Murano, that is no longer operational due to a faulty transmission. On the 26th of November 2006, the transmission seized and stopped operating, as I was driving on the highway. Now I have a 3 year old, $35,000 dollar vehicle, which may as well be a paperweight. The vehicle is sitting in my driveway, awaiting repairs. I take care of this vehicle as if it were my own child. I ensure that the oil is replaced every 3,000 miles religiously, and I have spent hundreds of dollars for routine scheduled services. To sustain a Nissan Murano is not a cheap task. The last scheduled service was a 60,000 mile maintenance and it cost me well over $500 dollars. I ensure that the maintenance is being completed, because I understand the importance of routine services. When I purchased this Nissan Murano, I had no idea it would give me so many headaches. I have been to the Nissan dealers for unscheduled warranty repair at least 5 times a year, since I purchased it. Some of the issues I have had with the SUV are, the check engine light turning on, unexplained vehicle vibrations when driving, car seizing in the middle of road, bad brakes, alternator had to be exchanged, battery went bad, and my transmission would not fall into gear. I called the Nissan consumer toll free number and the Nissan corporation is asking me to consolidate the records of everything that has been repaired on the car, and fax it to them. It seems that conveniently enough, Nissan does not have records of any maintenance that was performed at authorized Nissan dealers. I was told that this information had to be faxed first, before a decision can be made. The transmission has had previous difficulties covered under the warranty and had continued to malfunction when the current incident occurred. The only decision I would like to receive, as soon as possible is, if the Nissan corporation is going to grant my request to fix my transmission at no cost.

15 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/19/2006

Overall the vehicle has been very good. At approximately 65,000 miles the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The day before it failed I heard a noise but could not determine where it was coming from. On the day it failed the noise seemed not to be present. I exited a highway after a 1 1/2 drive and the transmission made a bump sound that made the car shake for an instant. Then, the transmission seemed not to engage. The car appeared to go into limp mode. I traveled for a few miles to a small town. After being parked for a few minutes the transmission again engaged. I called the dealer, and he said to get vehicle to them , and they would take a look. A few times along the way the transmission slipped. I was informed the following day that the transmission needed to be replaced at a cost of over $5,000. Nissan refused to help in anyway. They were simply turning their back on me because the warranty expired at 60,000 miles. I requested any contribution for repairs and they refused. It was a very sad corporate policy.
