The ignition lock-out system has permanently failed on my 2001 Acura Cl so that the key may be removed when shifter is "drive" position. This creates a dangerous situation where the car can roll away after the driver has exited. This has happened to me on several occasions, including once when the car damaged my garage door. I understand this is also a problem on Honda badge vehicles. A recall is needed.
The contact owns a 1999 Acura 2. 3cl. The contact was able to remove the key from the ignition, even when the vehicle was not in park and the engine was still running. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 03v423000 (electrical system:ignition:switch). The current mileage was approximately 130,000 and failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
